be careful jumping waves out by yourself. I swamped my 550 kawi standup once in Jupiter inlet Florida and it would not restart. I was lucky to make it to shore with the waves and currents. I'm in Fajardo, Puerto Rico now and have a 24 foot center console that we fish out of regularly. The water here is no joke. You will see swells running towards shore at 6+ feet with wind waves at 3+ feet running off-shore at the same time. Plus, the currents running between the outer islands make it worse... be safe my friend!!
I agree that this type of activity should not be done alone. I do have a lot of safety equipment, such as an offshore radio, GPS, EPIRB, and a SPOT personal beacon. I am also a licensed captain and a lifetime boater, so I take all risks seriously. Thank you for your comment.
