You have to turning on again once you are loaded into the map, and then turning off everytime a loading screen is coming, dumb as fuck, but it's the only thing that worked for me and I tried everything, while waiting for a patch.
yeah was about to say w/o multi I only get 23 fps instead of 140+ but I guess most ppl just forget to mention you turn it off before you change map and turn it back on once the game loaded the new map
The crashing is what people think is from a windows update and seems to be effecting AMD cpu's. Basically whats happening is is when you load the game or a map/level your CPU is using all cores to load things in the game. When it does this there is a chance your cpu has no processing power left for your windows because the game loading is being prioritized over windows. This means you load something in the game and your windows crashes because the game is using all of your CPU power loading the level. This has been effecting more games than just Path of exile 2. This is why when you turn of multicore it fixes the problem because your CPU has spare cores to keep your windows running. Another fix is to go into task manager and open path of exile in details and disable the game from using some of the cores. This allows the game to use half and windows to use the other half. Basically windows messed something up and it should not allow games and apps to take priority of your CPU over your operating system. Its supposed to let your operating system have full priority of the CPU and crash the game before it crashes your entire system.
I've stopped updating my windows for 2 patches. I have the load screen freeze but as well. I started playing last night. The first time I've played worked well, logged out after then got the freeze when logging in to my character. I created a new account and played for like 5 hours no issues but froze up again after logging in today. Idk what this means
I’m just gonna stop playing until they issue an official patch for it. As frustrating as that is. There is plenty of other games to play over the holidays.
when i turn off multithreading, my game become completely unplayable but yes, i dont have crashes. if i turn lower the affinity, at least the game let me hard-stop from task manager, if crashes. when i change my gateway, i can play. not always, but i can. lol
Hi, I tried everything in your video and nothing. I've been unable to play for 4 days, every loading screen freezes and it's not a PC problem since I have a 4080. I've tried EVERYTHING, even contacting them by email and nothing. Can you think of any other solution or a discord where I can ask someone? Thanks.

I’m having an issue (on pc through steam) where my game will just crash/backout to desktop every time I try to move between locations BUT ONLY IF I’m using my controller as input. The game never crashes if I’m using M&K. I only this is a slightly different problem but please let me know if someone finds a fix, I can’t find anyone talking about this same issue.
Bottom line. GGG game engine is not optimized. It's complete garbage. Got me killed during bosses many times when the game completely locks up and end up dead on next frame. It's lame.
This is an issue with a windows update effecting what seems to be AMD cpu's. Even shroud is having this issue. Basically what happens is when the game is loading the CPU is working at its hardest using all cores to load the game. When the CPU uses all its cores for the game it runs out of any CPU to run windows functions so your windows crashes. This is the fault of a windows update because no game or app is supposed to be allowed to take priority of your CPU over core windows functions.
WHat helped me big time is just updating my motherboard's chipset driver. Before that it would crash at every single loading screen. Deactivating some cores only made the game not load anything anymore at all. I then checked my chipset driver and realized it's got a pretty old version (had msi center install it and assumed it'd get the newest one but nope) and after the update the game only ever crashes if I tab out of it during loading screen. As long as I stay in the game while in loading screens I haven't had a single crash in 3 days.

cant blame people for doing so since it is GGG's problem to fix, not ours.

It’s 100% based around windows update/version 24H2
@@XiLock_Alotx it's not in 100% of the cases tho. some ppl reported it also happens to them on win10
Not exclusive to AMD. I have i7-13620H, and it is happening to me.

Tried the first few options, but the game is crashing on the initial loading screen. So, I cannot get to the multi threading option

This is true because 4080's turn Windows operating systems into Linux so they never crash again.
SOLUTION IS : go to your graphic drivers app and set shade size to unlimited, then it works
shader size*
Doesn't work still crashes. Game is just bugged in some configs.
