As a newer Tool fan (about 3 years) 3rd eye was definitely the song that took the longest to warm up to. I basically just skipped it for 2 years, then eventually thought "it's been a loooong time, let me remind myself what 3rd eye sounds like". The rest is history, it just grew on me and now I love it 🤘🌀 By the way, your gonna freaking love Lateralus. Make sure you listen to some of the tracks back to back or uninterrupted for the best experience 👍
Now you understand. lol. Imagine being 18, on a hallucinagen and hearing this being played live flawlessly when Maynard was still in his physical prime. Yup. It changed me, lol. Not promoting mind altering stuff. But that’s what helped me to grasp things that I previously couldn’t. Now I’m done with those. Good reaction to still my favorite band after 26 years. And I’m here for it ✌️
I usually skip ions. But it is 4:30 in the morning so I have headphones on to not wake the house...those zaps go right thru your brain! Their sound/mixing guys do not get enough praise, truly.
there doing whatever it takes to pry open are 3rd eyes lol. love this song, this is my all time fav tool album, 2nd time i ever took shrooms had this album on repeat talk about a crazy night. salival is technically the next tool album. the intro is a must listen to. 100% the way everyone should look at life in this world.
It was released in 2000 ahead of their next album, most of the recordings were from their tour in 1999 and end of 1998. So yes Salival was prior to Lateralus in 2001.
Just wait till your 20th or so listen, then you'll start to grasp the magnitude of the composition that is Third Eye. The song will reveal it's context better once you complete the Lateralus album.
Appreciate you! The Grudge was one of the ones I did in the beginning so no waiting needed! th-cam.com/video/2tS5KiN8vJc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=onVV9mqLdnBs7AtQ
Lateralus, huh? Dude, prepare yourself for the best album they've made. The Holy Trinity of Disposition, Reflection and Triad are the best 3 songs I have ever heard consecutively on any album, period!🌀
I don't have a favorite Tool song as that's impossible in my opinion. But I always say if I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life, it would be Reflection .
I listen to the salival version the live version. It sounds just as great except for he only says prying open my third eye, three times at the end instead of 12
+1 for "Eulogy". After that one it was clear this wasn't "another" metal band. It was like listening to Yes or Genesis without all that annoying flute, hobbit middle-earth shit 😆.
I love Tool and they have been - by far - my favorite band for decades - but "songs" like Ions are not really songs ;)) Friday I am hoping to buy tix to their show in Hannover on 5/25 (peeps in Europe - Friday 10 AM - on sale!!). It will be my 6th show .....
Didn't see it mentioned in the comments yet (and not really a big deal).. "(-) Ions" is pronounced "negative ions" Just looking out for you, since the Tool Army can sometimes come after you with pitchforks for the smallest of details 😂
This is one of the few songs by Tool I actually think are better experienced without reading lyrics on the first listen. The lyrics are so trippy it is distracting!
As a great man once said: "If tool was a video game, Third Eye is the final boss."
Rosetta Stoned is up there.
Absolutely 'expert' level listener Tool!
That’s way better than mine, lol, but I have always said. Art is not a competition, but if it was……Tool wins ✌️
@@aaronwolf3587in the words of the late great Gene Wilder as Dr Frankenstein on Young Frankenstein, "well that would go without say" 😂 🌀 🤘
It's one of the most King Crimson of Tool's songs, especially the noodling Adam does around the middle.
The salival version of this song is unreal! You can’t skip out on it! Amazing reaction as always 🌀🤘
YES !!
Needs to check out the hidden track on Salival as well. 😂
This is my favorite Tool track. It’s unbelievable that 4 ppl came up with this. Creativity off the charts.
I usually skipped it until I saw it live. It pried open my third eye eye…

Salival live version is a must my dude just the raw emotion and the performance is mind blowing
Salival version just hits so hard man it's not even fair...LOL...Absolutely LOVE that version!
@chriswebb7822 if I could go back and experience them again for the first time 😆
Third Eye isn't for everyone, but I'm glad I'm on the side that loves it!
BRUH!!!! Is it just me or have you been becoming more and more of a nerd with every Tool song , lmao 😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂 😂
Yes, Eon and Patient go together
Ions sounds like how we'd F around with sheet metal in Shop class.

Tool is mind-altering stuff
Io ho fatto lo stesso😂😂😂😂
the song that every song aspires to be

Welcome to Tool

You have ascended now. Welcome.
🤘🏻🌀
We call these pallette cleansers...no commentary expected on ions. Just close your eyes and be ready. To open your 3rd eye
Always look forward to Toolday! Love Third Eye and Ænima in general!! Thanks again for sharing your Tool journey, I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far!
Thank you for being here to share it with me!!
@@EmpReacts also, just so you know, the Salival album was released prior to Lateralus. No matter what order you choose, I'm here for it!
You gonna do Salival? The live TOOL album? It’s technically next in chronological order. Definitely was released before Lateralus
It was released in 2000 ahead of their next album, most of the recordings were from their tour in 1999 and end of 1998. So yes Salival was prior to Lateralus in 2001.
The song combos you mentioned for Lateralus are correct, Intermission/intro in to the next track. Absolutely cannot wait for Lateralus, LET'S GO !!
Looking forward to the next album!
What a trip! Amazing song!

Can you say one time "learn to swim" and ticks and leeches 😆
18:36 that was a fitting video glitch, lmao
Time to Pry open your third eye buddy 😂
Breaking Benjamin was a tribute band to Tool, they are all fans check them out doing a cover of Prison Sex.
You know the music's good when you lose track of time 😆
They are all great albums! ✌
This song is literally a trip
Still haven’t fully recovered from it lol
yeah, that song is shocking
Great reaction brother! Looking forward to the Grudge next week!
Appreciate you! The Grudge was one of the ones I did in the beginning so no waiting needed! th-cam.com/video/2tS5KiN8vJc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=onVV9mqLdnBs7AtQ
Sub'ed for Tool ❤️ and im going to add another comment for Salival version
What an epic closing for an epic album! Freaking love this song! Hope you enjoyed the journey Emp. Can't wait for Lateralus!
Third Eye took awhile to sink in for me.
Such a great song! You need to watch it live!
Don’t try to make sense of any of Tool’s instrumentals/ synth songs. Just close your eyes and enjoy them. 💨🥦😎✌️🌀
Exactly my reaction in 1997
3:45 - What did sheet metal ever do to Tool. 😂
Lateralus, huh? Dude, prepare yourself for the best album they've made. The Holy Trinity of Disposition, Reflection and Triad are the best 3 songs I have ever heard consecutively on any album, period!🌀
Masterclass start to finish, it's simple as that!
I don't have a favorite Tool song as that's impossible in my opinion. But I always say if I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life, it would be Reflection .

Next album please. You will level up now
Do the Salival Live video version of 3rd Eye 👁 Probably the best performance video on the internet. 🤘🌀🔧
