@@Axillity there are some quick pre-defined commands in the game, that you can trigger by using its number, 11 its basically a "LOL"
The hour went by so quickly, holy moly. My head is spinning with the constant repositioning, flanks, rebuilding of bases, and constant fighting and alarm bells - I cannot fathom how anyone could play this for so long without their brains exploding.
Hats off to both players, thank you T90 for casting this *insane* game. Definitely enjoyed it, there was not a dull moment in here.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to lay down and process all of this, 'twas too much. :D

Honestly LB10's mistake was going for those towers later on instead of putting down a castle or two. That one castle from Metal dealt with a fair few towers before the trebs and basically kept LB10 from pushing, the second one on Metals home island did exactly the same. They gave metal the breathing space against pushes all game long because even if LB10 built the stuff to kill them he would have had a lot of trouble protecting that stuff whilst attacking the castle without taking a horribly lopsided fight vs Metals army with castle fire support.
Towers are great for spammable light defence or early game arrow support, but once they become available castles completely outclass them as arrow fire machines. Not to mention the crenulations potential. Thats basically one of the issues Korean's have, their towers don't get really beastly till castle age, but soon after Castles become available which outclass even imp age korean towers.
honestly, there were a lot of routes that he could've gone that would've ended better from my understanding. Going for atleast 1 castle is for sure one of them, or just cooling it for a second with the towers and transitioning earlier. For a while it was a good idea, but i feel like he kept it going wayyyyyyy longer than made sense to. Once metal was locked into a corner on his island with basically no protection, definitely could've just transported a couple of his knights and caused far more disturbance than his towers ever could have. (and thus saved the stone, enabling him to create said castle even easier). I think leaving the extra islands in the center unprotected (considering he plopped down 20-25 towers, and a lot of them were redundant anyways, I think its more worth it to have 2 towers on each of those islands just in case). He could've pushed for a faster imperial the moment he saw metal's tower, and, supposing he did build a castle, use trebs to reclaim his entire island (instead of the other way around) etc.
I am by no means a high level player, and we're seeing this from spectator position, but considering the amount of map control, i think he had all the information available to come to the same conclusions, and i think he did make a lot of poor decisions.
I'll get back to you once I've finished if LB10 dont win I wont be happy
I agree - I would have castled his wood line earlier - mind you I would have lost far eailer since the only thing I know how to do is Persian TC rush but still
I love how you rerecorded from the beginning instead of just continuing from where you left off, it would be completely fine to do that but you wanted to do it as perfect as possible, you're one of the best entertainers i watch/listen to, your content is really appreciated Tristan
Depending on your setup the file can get corrupt if the drive has no space left and you lose the file. Wouldn't make sense to start mid game tbh.

If I was tilted, I would keep playing just to spite my opponent. I typically play team games though, and when I do so, others may quit early, I never do. I'll try to fight 1v4 and I'll no joke play for literally 4 hours if it means I win or get better in the end.

So at 26:35 LB10 says "we won tournament mocking metal when he was in some 2v2 arena tournament against secret in the last game he says in team chat "omg we just won tournament" or something like that then they threw the game and lost the tournament. So he is probably making fun of metal in some capacity.

Man, that three archer build on neutral island was insane! Almost won him the match.
These islands were good, but best? I don't know about that. Personally I'm of the opinion that isle of man is the best island, beautiful, strategically located and all that, but naha island in Okinawa is a really good island too.

One thing you forgot to mention (or at least before 20:32) Teuton pointy bois (and infantry in general) can shoot arrows from towers.
towers care for the attack not if the guys are ranged or not.
@@mauer1 Nope. Tower DO care for attack, but only of ranged units and villagers garrisoned. Non-Teuton infantry adds nothing to the building attack.
I'm not sure what Throwing Axeman and Gbeto do, I'd assume them not to add any arrows.

@@mauer1 I'm not sure if it's a conscient design choice (it would make sense due to TC fire protecting players' starting location in the super-early game) or if it's because they actually use a piercing ranged attack (when hunting).

Really triggered me that blue didn't put a castle on the woodline on the Northern island to zone that farming TC, kill the tower etc then build a treb... or you know knock the gate down with 10 knights. Whole game was kinda sloppy but fun I mean Metal didn't even get wheelbarrow until the 76th minute of gameplay lol (45:40) for those interested and horse collar was 80th minute.

Didn't think it was a huge surprise that Metal won. Ever after the first tower rush, he ruled the map.
It's almost a shame LB10 resigned when he did. With 1k gold in the bank and control over water and the middle island you think he could've started pushing back on his island. gg anyway!
I'm still in the middle of the video but lb should've transported more of his own villagers to metal's island and do what metal was doing, he has all the resources secured by his towers.
it seems that lb is forced to do this later on, after depleting resources on his main island, but he really should've done it voluntarily much earlier, then he might get to castle age faster and prevent metal from regaining his control of the island

Did they fix the bug that prevented the recording of a continuation? I wish somebody would have done that way back when. I still want to see the end of that epic match between Maimin Matty and ATSQ. Granted, everything devolved into TC wars back then (and Teutons weren't allowed because their TCs outranged everyone else's), but it was still an epic game.

At 1:00:00 game time (35:50 video time) Metal finishes researching Halderdier and immediately invades LB10's eco, that was where the game was won. LB10 had no defense and no answer for Japanese Halbs. He drops from from 90 to 45 pop within minutes. Couldn't truly recover from there.
this is actually so crazy. i never watched any aoe2 multiplayer games before. this is way different from playing against the ai. i'm not a construction worker but the 6 break thing is so real

i'm actually a construction worker and u were spot on XD that's actually how it is... sometimes it's hard to get work done because everyone wants to always take breaks constantly. we also have to work in hot buildings with no AC but even when it's not that bad, they are still pretty lazy sometimes

LB10 overbuilt fast fires when he needed to build a couple bombards instead. The siege workshop was right there, and he had done chemistry earlier for the hand cannons.
