Texas New Mexico Power got the power back on in my area around 6:15pm Monday night. Tons of Centerpoint customers down here are still without power though.

Go solar with a battery will solve your problems as a homeowner. Went solar w a battery system in 2019. I generate 15,000kWh annually, and my battery system has kept my family comfortable during the freeze, and every outage from then to now!!!!

By the time my son is done w middle school what you think that’s 30 years to pay only took 10 lol. What you think happens after paying centerpoint for 10 years ? ERCOT only applies "patches" to the network instead of investing in underground cabling, protected generators + transformers, etc If Texas can't supply energy in a reliable way, get rid of ERCOT and open the State for interstate supply!

I believe that to have the best chance in being successful in any situation where planning is critical, one should plan for the worse case scenario and hope for the best. This covers the good and bad that can happen and allows for the best possibilty to quickly adjust plans for any eventuality. That does not appear to have happened here. Tornadoes and hurricanes are not new to Texas; however, it appears that, yes, there was a plan, but it took too much for granted, like it was only a Cat 1 hurricane. But to say the forecasted landfall was uncertain until the end is a cop out. Houston had a high probability of getting hit with the dirty side of the hurricane that had a large footprint.
