Same here. I used to listen to his podcast with Dr. Drew pretty religiously but then I went left for a while and stopped. But I’ve been redpilled this past year and I saw Adam on a recent episode of Triggernometry, and since then I’ve been back to watching him on the regular. Adam’s been like a beacon in this woke darkness that we Californians have had to deal with.

So Eddie then went back to the commission said he was building a racquetball court with double thick walls. When his house was finished he converted that racquetball court into his sound studio that he wanted all along.

I live in Washington State. On the East side of the Cascade Mountains our folks are very savvy about wild fires and fire prevention. If you don't want your structures to burn you have to use fireproof building materials... lots of concrete and steal.
Yeah, and proper underbrush/overgrowth clearance and mantaining fire breaks and other common sense stuff these retreads in charge of Cali neglect either due to incompetance or complicity or both. Usually both from the looks of they/them.

Concrete structures require deeper foundations in earthquake country - that may not be suitable for many hillside lots in LA. Wood is used because it doesn't need a deep foundation

My neighbor's house burned down in 2019 and he rebuilt all concrete. Type 1,rated fire resistant home. Less square footage than what he had but his house isn't going down next time. Really what got his home and other neighbors homes were the embers entering the attic. Once embers enter the attic and hits all that combustible materials....your home is hard to save after that.
Yep. That's why you build a house with no eaves or fully enclosed soffits with sealed eaves made of non-combustible materials. Also, add gable vents with ember-resistant covers or a positive pressure ventilation systems so you have no vents on the roof. The key is preventing embers from entering your attic.

Most all of our apartment buildings here in Finland are concrete pre-formed and placed on site with huge cranes. Very good sound insulation and also against our cold winters.

People were poor in the early 80s late 70s. 99 cent tube steaks and pans without handles were the norm for us too. We saved as much as we could to get by. Bimart, K mart, recycle, collect cans and bottle tops for money, garden, fish for food. This was in Northern California.
I just tried to order a propane heater for my garage from Amazon - they had a wide selection. The one I initially chose, put in the basket and went to pay and - yep - they can't send that one to California...
This has become my favorite show. I catch it on Apple podcast, but nothing beats the video experience. The show is always entertaining and funny, but I enjoy learning more about different topics. Especially from an American perspective. As a builder and property developer in the UK it's also super interesting to listen to the construction processes across the pond. Comparing it to a traditionally stick built house, it is more expensive, but then economy of scale comes to play. I’d say around 10,000sqft and up and the cost for both structures becomes more similar. Probably the best and most cost-efficient option would be to use cinderblocks for the exterior of the home then use fire resistant treated lumber(not pressure treated like for outdoor use). Add a metal roof and you’ve got yourself a much more wind and fire resistant structure. Those concrete slab and cinderblock built homes can be made to withstand earthquakes as well.
I think it was Thomas Edison who tried to start Concrete housing. Didnt work, or sell well. But theres a sub-division of "Edison Homes" somewhere in Virginia or NY..

Reference Concrete homes : Thomas Edison built concrete houses in Phillipsburg NJ. back in the day. There are still some standing but I've been told they are not comfortable to live in.
As a superintendent I can tell Adam has done the same, electrician leaving the clips from wire and the packaging. That usually lasts one day until I back charge his boss a $50 clean up fee.
I hope the biggest lesson is that people of LA and of California need to learn to protect themselves, because the people you put in power are not going to do anything for you.

They're called "snap ties", they hold the plywood together for the pour... After it's cured you use a wrench and snap the ends off to remove the plywood forms and reveal a fireproof concrete wall.... It's easy, expensive, and strong!!😎👍
I live in AZ ~ near where we have wildfires. We allll have stucco homes. We allllll mostly have much of our yards stone and gravel. Lots n lots of pools. We don’t have the forest beauty, but we have different beauty lol. Anyway ~ just stucco….

Try finding denatured alcohol in CA. Often used in woodworking and as fuel for lanterns and camp stoves, it's illegal for smog reasons. But, you can buy it by the gallon in any AZ or NV Home Depot or Lowes.

Went to rebuild a small 10x10 patio cover in soCAL on an hoa property. The city permit cost more than the labor and materials.

Tile, slate or a glass product for roofs in fire areas. It costs a bit more but doesn't burn.

We have been building ICF homes in Texas since 1992. Just finished our home. It is all concrete including the roof, overhangs and soffits.

I live in AZ ~ near where we have wildfires. We allll have stucco homes. We allllll mostly have much of our yards stone and gravel. Lots n lots of pools. We don’t have the forest beauty, but we have different beauty lol. Anyway ~ just stucco….
Get that high pressure water pump that Adam talked about that you can throw into the pool if there is a (house) fire... sounds like it would be something good to have 🇺🇸
@ that sounds golden tbh. Just about every house in my neighborhood has big pools lol. Then again, our fires get controlled pretty quickly and I’ve never had one jump lines. With that said our current leadership would break if we ever had this magnitude of an issue. Hobgoblin ~ Katie Hobbs would pull a Bass. 😂

Try finding denatured alcohol in CA. Often used in woodworking and as fuel for lanterns and camp stoves, it's illegal for smog reasons. But, you can buy it by the gallon in any AZ or NV Home Depot or Lowes.
Literally about the cleanest fuel imaginable... Cali is a day-care state run by abusive day-care workers.

@@Slowv8Fiero no one I know watches, or has watched, Jimmy in years. His bit for Super Bowl showed him blowing $1M because he got pissed at the producers. It was an awful bit, and was only bitter, and ugly. I was uncomfortable to watch at my friend’s house. I don’t think he had much work of any kind for a while after that Super Bowl. He also seemed to be drunk during it.
