You nailed it with the third song ("Grey Blow")- it is nostalgic for us. It's from the 90's, probably the last decade of decent rock bands in Israel, and it was the theme of a TV show called "Florentine", named after a district in southern Tel Aviv. The lyrics talk about a young couple wanting to live like adults so the girl says we'll move to south Tel Aviv, work a little bit, you'll make your music, it's gonna be ok and all... and it ends up with everything crumbling and feels like a "grey blow" decends upon the city. I mean, this is my take on it, could be wrong. But anyway, you got it exactly right with the nostalgic feeling and the typical audience for this song. Nice video man.
To me "Maka Afora" reminds me of the Rabin assassination, don't know if there was an intentional connection, just the time frame it came out, feeling of optimism and then depression. Bam bam ba'sabim = bam bam from the subwoofers; Mesiba, bassim = party, bass (sounds); Bis me'wasabi = a bite of wasabi; Bassa, Sababa = bummer, great It's basically to show how life can sometimes be a great party and sometimes like a bite out of something unpleasant.
“Bassa” is Israeli slang meaning “bummer” or something not great, and “Sababa” is slang for when something is cool or alright. Basically two opposites. Edit: also I wish you would have reacted to an original song by Asaf Avidan, he’s an amazing artist. :)

Hey, as an Israeli it is Funny, your picks are very different styles and years between the songs Monika Sex - 90 Rock band Netta - is new artist that got big when she won the Eurovision 2018 Sarit hadas is the oriantal music that popular in Israel Assaf avidan is Already international prefomer, and well known one
Im really curious as to how you came up to those specific songs. Most of them are considered old school by industry standards here. Plus you got 2 English songs, which are not super rare but aren't that common (we're a small country, so many musicians try appealing to an international audience) It's very popular to mix styles, genres and languages - so if you like that, I made a few recommendations at the bottom SUBLIMINAL Basically you got our "family friendly rapper" a little like will smith is as a musician. NETTA she started her career competing in the Euro-vision, It's also why she sings solely in English. honestly, she's not much of singer live - but she gives amazing performance. Israeli pop is very energetic, and is mostly about being happy against the odds (quite a generalization, but this is already too long). so we have a lot of "bubble gum and rainbows" songs, although she is the more extreme expression of this. MONICA SEX The song you played is from 1995, there wasn't really much of show in music videos back then. Israeli rock has a much broader range than the two you brought here - give it a shot SARIT HADDAD a good example of the israely oriental old school pop. most of the genre is about romance, and tends to be a sad and even depressing. But it has shifted over the last decade and there are a lot more musicians of this style making fun songs to dance to. basically it became the party/wedding genre. so if you like her vocals, but dislike the music - check out some of the others ASAF AVIDAN He went Internationale and I'm pretty sure he doesn't live here. his older songs pack quite a punch (vocally) ************************* obviously there are many more great musicians you should check out, but there is a limit. I tried giving a mixed list, but at the buttom line I know the songs I like. ENJOY Ninet Tyb - you said you love rock - check her out. not only she's an amazing singer ,she gives a hell of a performance. A lot in english as well. this song is a cover she made as part of a tv show about "Red band" a puppet rock band (check them out as well) th-cam.com/video/rE2EWYdXQFI/w-d-xo.html Jain Bordo - amazing vocals, soft music - song title: how is it possible not to (sounds a bit rough in English, but it works in hebrew) th-cam.com/video/-BR3ziVDazM/w-d-xo.html Static and Ben El - Israeli pop - combines multiple styles in every song th-cam.com/video/Y_OLslE3bX8/w-d-xo.html Stephan Legar - a multilingual singer, combines franch, hebrew and english. 8:48 Bassa Sababa actually has a meaning: Bassa means bummer, and Sababa means cool, together meaning that even if something bums you out, you can still be cool about it. Like when this song came out many people in israel posted bad things that happened to them, and tried to be cool about them, hashtaging #באסהסבבה

Sarit Hadad- this song is portrait of longing. 5. Assaf Avidan- you don't need an explanation.

I'm glad you chose music from different eras and genres - Israel is a melting pot of cultures and I love how it affects our music. Also, you have such a cheerful and fun personality! Watching you was a pleasure and I can't wait to see more of your content :)
Bam bam ba'sabim = bam bam from the subwoofers;
Mesiba, bassim = party, bass (sounds);
Bis me'wasabi = a bite of wasabi;
Bassa, Sababa = bummer, great
It's basically to show how life can sometimes be a great party and sometimes like a bite out of something unpleasant.
When he called Sarit Hadad young lady 😂 she was born is 1978.
Sarit Hadad seems to age backwards, as she gets older she looks younger!
The words Bassa and Sababa is actually a israeli slang
Bassa is when something shitty is happen and Sababa is like okay cool
זה לא סלנג זה מילים בערבית
כן זה לא סלאנג
אם לא מילים מערבית?
Bassa is like when you say shit when something happnes we say bassa
Bassa is when something bad happens so basically bassa=that sucks
“Bassa” is Israeli slang meaning “bummer” or something not great, and “Sababa” is slang for when something is cool or alright. Basically two opposites. Edit: also I wish you would have reacted to an original song by Asaf Avidan, he’s an amazing artist. :)

Monica Sex Maka Afora (Grey Punch) was a huge hit in Israel back in the 90's...
This was a song about a young couple trying to live the life in the big city (Tel Aviv), and was also the opening theme for a very famous Israeli TV series back then called Florentin, about guys and girls living in the big city.
"She told me- hey look
Life is pretty wonderful
Lets rent a room in S.Tel Aviv
And live like grown ups
Lets live from a minute to another
Find a temporary non serious job
Maybe you shall find
Something to write about
Not something deep, something sweet
A love story...
With lots of metaphores
The main charecter will be drunk
Like you...
There is a lovely pain
Which goes by so fast
And I dont want to recall
How I was standing there
How Ive told her
You are beutiful
Thats what you need
Thats what I want
And thats how it gonna be...
It took place at the autum of last year
It falls like a grey punch on the city

Hey, as an Israeli it is Funny, your picks are very different styles and years between the songs
Monika Sex - 90 Rock band
Netta - is new artist that got big when she won the Eurovision 2018
Sarit hadas is the oriantal music that popular in Israel
Assaf avidan is Already international prefomer, and well known one
Im really curious as to how you came up to those specific songs. Most of them are considered old school by industry standards here. Plus you got 2 English songs, which are not super rare but aren't that common (we're a small country, so many musicians try appealing to an international audience)
It's very popular to mix styles, genres and languages - so if you like that, I made a few recommendations at the bottom
SUBLIMINAL
Basically you got our "family friendly rapper" a little like will smith is as a musician.
NETTA
she started her career competing in the Euro-vision, It's also why she sings solely in English. honestly, she's not much of singer live - but she gives amazing performance. Israeli pop is very energetic, and is mostly about being happy against the odds (quite a generalization, but this is already too long). so we have a lot of "bubble gum and rainbows" songs, although she is the more extreme expression of this.
MONICA SEX
The song you played is from 1995, there wasn't really much of show in music videos back then.
Israeli rock has a much broader range than the two you brought here - give it a shot
SARIT HADDAD
a good example of the israely oriental old school pop. most of the genre is about romance, and tends to be a sad and even depressing. But it has shifted over the last decade and there are a lot more musicians of this style making fun songs to dance to. basically it became the party/wedding genre. so if you like her vocals, but dislike the music - check out some of the others
ASAF AVIDAN
He went Internationale and I'm pretty sure he doesn't live here. his older songs pack quite a punch (vocally)
*************************
obviously there are many more great musicians you should check out, but there is a limit. I tried giving a mixed list, but at the buttom line I know the songs I like. ENJOY
Ninet Tyb - you said you love rock - check her out. not only she's an amazing singer ,she gives a hell of a performance. A lot in english as well. this song is a cover she made as part of a tv show about "Red band" a puppet rock band (check them out as well)
th-cam.com/video/rE2EWYdXQFI/w-d-xo.html
Jain Bordo - amazing vocals, soft music - song title: how is it possible not to (sounds a bit rough in English, but it works in hebrew)
th-cam.com/video/-BR3ziVDazM/w-d-xo.html
Static and Ben El - Israeli pop - combines multiple styles in every song
th-cam.com/video/Y_OLslE3bX8/w-d-xo.html
Stephan Legar - a multilingual singer, combines franch, hebrew and english. If I recall correctly, he currently serves in the IDF as a musician (it's quite common for young talents)
th-cam.com/video/PuDfh4F0aKc/w-d-xo.html
a combonation of artists and even our current president at the end (not the same role as american president) on a special project - the song is titled "a tribe of brothers and sisters" about the israeli mentality of one big family
th-cam.com/video/xWx3R7WaAQY/w-d-xo.html
Guy Mazig - Fun rock - just enjoy some funky tunes
th-cam.com/video/7Whi2fmeQZs/w-d-xo.html
Eden Ben Zaken - another Israeli pop, but she has a more genre spefic style and her vocal skills are amazing
th-cam.com/video/vTDjXjZO_hk/w-d-xo.html
Habilluim - for punk lovers - the band is mostly about complicated lyrics. this specific songs sounds like gibberish to hebrew speakers as well - just enjoy the sound
th-cam.com/video/NXlmh2IAyow/w-d-xo.html
Tuna - rapper, a slower more tepid rapper than Subliminal - If you like this, check out Natchi Natchi (they perform together quite often)
th-cam.com/video/3PJmE-ucx_o/w-d-xo.html
Moshe Artzi - one of the most popular Israeli musicians, and considered by many to be "classical Israeli music" - the song was inspired from 'Imagine' by john Lenon
th-cam.com/video/Y0KxZz5k-RE/w-d-xo.html
Omer Adam - honestly not my style - but if you liked Sarit hadad, you should check him out
th-cam.com/video/WLMmX17D2uw/w-d-xo.html
Shmemel - a crazy awsome mixture - I guess you can call it a successful version of Israeli indie
th-cam.com/video/NIQjUZk_Hiw/w-d-xo.html
Hatikva 6 - Israeli pop county (kinda) - this song is a mash of Israeli symbolism (popular snacks, the bummer of losing international sports competitions etc)
th-cam.com/video/3mNFg-EyBkU/w-d-xo.html
Jimbo J - great fun - this song is a summery of the typical Israeli main life events - the title mean "done that" which is a common expression in Hebrew for all the events portrait in the song
th-cam.com/video/x6ezbFpkGlw/w-d-xo.html
Kaveret - old school super popular music. most of their lyrics is nonesens and puns, the music is just plain fun - this song is a ballad about a guy who is very attached to his boots
th-cam.com/video/qoGM7G7cZJk/w-d-xo.html
Ivri Lider - soft and a little poetic. quite popular here
th-cam.com/video/3kJiCtRlVTo/w-d-xo.html
Hadag Nahash - hiphop, extremely popular band - this song was written using only stickers from cars, signs etc
th-cam.com/video/GIbjpev6U5s/w-d-xo.html
Aerutz Hkibud (channel of snacks/sharing/respecting - they love puns) - honestly, they're closer to singing comedians than full on musicians. so it's mostly about the lyrics, but the beat is a really good example for israelly hip hop and dance music.
they are very popular and personally I love singing comedians more than any other kind of performers.
