- In Merida every year comes a local festival. Two beautiful Venezuelan girls invited me to go check out the local feria known as "la feria del sol". The locals basically get drunk every day and events occur around the city such as parades, parties and other fun activities. The Venezuelan girls get dressed up pretty and the men tend to wear traditional clothes from the Andes. I suited up for the party...

I lived in Merida in 2004-2005 and I remember how crazy was La Feria del Sol. A whole week of drunk people, even tourists from Germany or Argentina drunk at the streets hahahaha.
Sadly that mountain water screwed up my stomach, I went out twice to las plazas at night but pfffft forget about I ended up with a parasite for 15 days from drinking mountain water.

Haha the Polar is starting to have it's effect ;) BTW I love Venezuela. but was there pre-covid times!!! Never felt unsafe and everybody was super friendly, even the soldiers.... Lived like a king one month on 400 $

Volpe, I was born in the United States, but my parents are from Venezuela. Before they split up, as a kid we would go around Christmas every year, and sometimes I even get a little emotional watching your videos, it feels like reconnecting with a part of me that has been mostly long forgotten.. It is crazy how distinct the Venezuelan accent and way is, I see shades of all the characteristics in my parents, and man, I've REALLY enjoyed your videos on Venezuela, I honestly can't thank you enough, been showing my parents too and they love it. Would love to buy you a beer one day and go to a Heat game or something. Cheers bro!

I started to choke up a little when that gentleman was describing how the Venezuelan people makes jokes and bond even while enduring 12-24hr lines for basics like Propane gas refills. So sad yet hopeful that these lovely human beings get relief from the tyranny they are living under.
Same feelings here. These people are the best examples of an optimistic human race.
I don't think you have a profound understanding of what is at the heart of the situation facing Venezuela..where is the tyranny you speak of? Sounds like a borrowed talking point of the handbook of oversimplification.
