Back in the 80s it was still possible to live hassle-free on the road in a vehicle, and freedom and personal liberty still meant a lot to many people. In 85 the Battle of the Beanfield and the fact that police pretty much got away with the most horrendous crimes, strongly suggested the beginning of the end of anything that wasn't compliant to state/corporate control. I've posted my views on this many times, including on your channel and I suspect that you know exactly why people get uptight about people thinking that they can park wherever they like and use the facilities that others who live in the area pay for via their council fees and whatever else. Here during the health thing travellers were banned from many places simply due to the fact that health services in the area couldn't handle the extra people if there was an outbreak, it wasn't about how you're trying to make it out to be. Ironically you walked past a sign that said that private fishing isn't allowed, I think, so do you think that everyone should be allowed to do it ? I suspect that social media has a lot to do with it as well. It's like the 4wd scene here I suspect. One big channel will post a video about a place, all the wannabes head there, cause chaos and the area gets shut down. Then the channel that contributed to the issue complain about the closures.
If the land belongs to someone then NO they shouldn't just go fish there. But a lot of the land here in the UK that I have issues with is land that is open access or public land. We have access but if you can't park or stop it's not really open access. A bit like saying you can go swim in the sea but don't walk on the sand. Unless you pay or in some places just don't walk on the sand. I've always considered Australia a place you can still have an adventure. Is that the case or are the restrictions limiting where you can go ? Could you just load up a landie and drive for miles ?
@@Roadshome Australia is pretty blessed in terms of where we can go from what I've seen. Having said that we're having increasing issues with the amount of people who are doing it as well. I spoke to my mechanic recently and he used to do 4wd trips years ago and often didn't see another person. Nowadays even very remote and hard to travel tracks are busy. People lining up for the Instagram pic. in the middle of nowhere is pretty common now. Popular tourist spots are usually extremely busy and often booked out. Plenty of options to camp and pay for the privilege and I can understand why people who spend a fortune on a beachfront property don't want a heap of vans parked in front of them. I probably wouldn't choose a Landie as my 4wd here as I like to get there and back but the older ones sure do look the business though.🤣🤣 If you like space to roam then you would love it here imo.
It started when the wealthy started buying second homes in cornwall wich pushed us to devon for a nice view devon soon followed suit and so the snowball rolled all over the uk
No I expect it happened when YT and other social media started to push and advertise this sort of lifestyle and people were all rushing to the picture postcard destinations to do the same thing imo. Fact is that most want all the benefits of living or staying in these areas but aren't paying for the privilege of doing so. We live in a very popular tourist area and pay rates and taxes accordingly which pay for the upkeep and provision of facilities etc and there are businesses who cater to those with vans, caravans and whatever else. Even people on narrowboats, or other boats, have to pay all sorts of fees for the use and maintenance of the systems they use but many seem to think that it shouldn't apply to those in vans who want to all park up at the seaside?
Did you know the l.e.d bulbs on cars and vans and homes and streetlights are vlc visusl light communication so everyones tracked and also bluetooth on stereos and all your decices are on a mesh system all linked too ...

Hi mate great vlog. I live near to Ribblehead and drive through Wray everyday into Lancaster and back and saw you today. Its a beautiful park up but please don't advertise its whereabout too much. If you know, you know..The traveller community know and stop longer than they should. The same is in Wennington where they stop over several days. I don't have any beef with these families as the site is left as clean as it was on their arrival. My only gripe is that vanlifers/campers etc, will be moved on by locals complaining and the police will be quite happy to do that. You will have passed a car park/cafe spot just after Caton on the right (great double cheeseburger, lovely couple). There is a Green Luton van that spends multiple nights there and could easily ruin van parking. Move on mate, spread it out!!!!!! Lets do each other a solid to keep things open and available. All the best for Christmas to the both of you. Just subscribed xx
@clegsta42 it's cool. We don't stay in any place longer than a few days. It's the best way to make yourself unwelcome. Once people realise they only have to see you a day or 2 and then your gone with no sign of being there. Most will tolerate you a little better. You have a good Christmas 🎄

@@battlebbot I think he was. He also organised a nude protest at Stonehenge in 1986. Me and my mate went all the way there from Essex, hoping to see some naked girls, and there was nothing.
@@battlebbot I'm sure Battle of the Beanfield was 1984. I'm getting old so not sure if it was '84 or '85.
@Jack_Warner 85
Not far from you ourselves 😊
In Wray now, it was to wild at the viaduct
@Roadshome yes saw you were in Wray, been a few a times nice river walk x
prob best not to touch your camera while driving on camera !
It's only illegal if hand held. Mine is mounted on a gorilla tripod and sits on the dash. In effect the same as touching a car radio.
I probably wouldn't choose a Landie as my 4wd here as I like to get there and back but the older ones sure do look the business though.🤣🤣
If you like space to roam then you would love it here imo.
It started when the wealthy started buying second homes in cornwall wich pushed us to devon for a nice view devon soon followed suit and so the snowball rolled all over the uk
I have mentioned this in the past, the rich buying up all the homes then moan about tourist?? bonkers
You work hard for your money and in return you get to spend it as you like, if that means a holiday home then good for them.
I`d have sat there untill he moved or the cops came and i would have made a cuppa.
I had already squeezed passed, but my van is a little narrower. This is exactly why I prefer Mark to be in front. 😊
I didn't think of that. Sioux had just sqeezed past, so I followed.
Did you know the l.e.d bulbs on cars and vans and homes and streetlights are vlc visusl light communication so everyones tracked and also bluetooth on stereos and all your decices are on a mesh system all linked too ...
No, I didn't know about this. What do I search to learn about it. You can't post links unfortunately. But if you give me an idea on what to search 🤔
@Jokayne they give off a signal but I don't think you can connect to them, I know some led lights give off 2.4 and jam sort wave Bluetooth signals, but like I just said short wave, like to know where you got this info from?
Oh behave yourself
Lol tinfoil hat brigade
Please, please, for the love of god, pronounce your H's !!!!! It's beyond odd, beyond regional accent... It's just weird and very frustrating, listening to you. I have to continue watching because you raise some good points... but your lazy speech is awful! Sorry 🤦🏻🤷🏻
Haha 😂 I have to listen to him all the time. 😊
Really sorry Trolley. Please forgive me for the next vlog. I say H appy a lot. But didn't see this before I made it. I will try harder.
@@Roadshome 🙂👍🏻
Moving on today, we usually only spend a couple of nights in one area. Unless one of us becomes ill or we have a problem with a van.
@@Roadshome sorry mate I didn't mean for you both to move, but the guy in the green Luton van. He's there for 3-4days plus. Stay well mate
@clegsta42 it's cool. We don't stay in any place longer than a few days. It's the best way to make yourself unwelcome. Once people realise they only have to see you a day or 2 and then your gone with no sign of being there. Most will tolerate you a little better. You have a good Christmas 🎄
@@Roadshome I've got plans for LWB Iveco daily in the new year after completing my house sale. I would love to stay in touch whilst converting it and eventually meet up with you and other experienced vanlifers and if possible and get valuable advice. Cheers mate
Yeah stay in touch , you should have stopped by and had a cup of tea. We are usually in the northwest, so if you need any advice just give us a shout.
