Going to small claims court on your own can be very confusing and intimidating. This video is intended to help you better understand the steps and procedures involved in going to small claims court on your own. In addition, this video will familiarize you with the clerk's office, the court room and the different roles of the people you will encounter while representing yourself in small claims court. I think it was a great video and very helpful. I'm from Idaho and was wondering if it's the same in every state? I was also wondering if it matters whether it's two business individuals involved can one business individual file a claim against another business individual or is the small claims just for personal loses?

Good video. But here in Massachusetts it's much simpler... the court notifies the defendant through mail, and you only have to fill out one single form. I feel bad for people out there- it's so much more complicated!

Excellent information, now I, am suing someone in New Jersey, and I saw that they were served by email, which is much easier than the old way of doing it. Now, my court date is Feb 9, I am using a dealership for a few issues, including the fact that they sold me a car with flood damage, there is a New Jersey law that regulates that, without telling me, and I have a question about the exhibits, I understand that I as the plaintiff have to use numbers, the defense uses letters?, and the question is how to number the exhibits, should I just have one very long exhibit, for instance the selling contract is 33 pages long, and with all the photos, and number everything, it would go up to 70 pages, yes there is a lot (they even sold me tire insurance on bad tires), or should I label each issue, within the same transaction, of buying this car, and then go like 1C,1C,1C, and for the second exhibit, 2C,2C,2C, etc, thanks
