Shadowbringers is easily the best RPG story experience i've ever had! And i played pretty much all other FF's and several other RPG's. And now with 6.0 coming this year, our long journey in the saga of Hydaelin and Zodiak is coming to an end. 10 years of story is coming to its epic conclusion! I just can't imagine how hype this will be. Just knowing that this whole story that lasted 10 long years was pretty much all planned from the beginning, i can't help but say that Naoki Yoshida is easily the best writter in gaming history! Also, can't wait to see your reaction for 5.3, which marks the end of Shadowbringers!
@@RicktatorRick 2nd fav? It has become my nr1. And FF8 was my nr1 for very special reasons. And for xiv to pass that, is something I never would believe. I have now played FFXIV since July 7th 2011 ;). Playtime in FF8 about 800 hours, in FFXIV 921 days 11 hours and 48min when writing this hehe
@@ChandaniAranka that's huge! Wow. Yea FF7 is my #1 overall fav and fav game of all time. Mostly because of how special it is to me and during that time in my life. Tactics was my #2 but XIV has skyrocketed since.
I've not played many FF's, but a handful of RPG's and this one tops them all. I'm amazed cause there's always been that excuse (which I've said a lot myself) that MMO's can't top singleplayer RPG's cause the story and writing isn't the priority and there's so much else in terms of gameplay and content that takes priority. FF14's has proven not only can an MMO have top tier storytelling, but also top tier content and gameplay. This throws my whole experience in WoW out the window and partly GW2 that had great potential for story but was just shy off the mark. It all goes to show that it's not the MMO genre that's the problem, but the management, priority and writers themselves. It's likely way more complex to do it, but FF14 should be set as an example, THE example for a successful MMO henceforth. I can't wait for 6.0 and forward, my expectations are lowered but even if we don't get Shadowbringers tier, given the same writer is there it can still come close. Heck I didn't expect stuff could get better after 5.0 but oh boy could it, so who knows!

I love re-living the end of shadowbringers through emotional streamer reactions! on a side note, I'm stillw aiting for the first one to catch that emet selch is quoting the little gremlin from the shadowbringers trailer! "Who are you? noone, nothing! Weary wanderer, no fight to fight, no life to live" And you, Sir, said it perfectly in the end: "you could do nothing but tear up!"
I don't know, was always partial to "My world will have no need of heroes." I think it says more about Emet's perception and desires more than pretty much any line in the story. The world of old didn't need heroes because it was perfection. The world the WOL would make would by it's design require them. That is what makes it inferior to Emet while also having it do double duty as a threat to the WOL.
@@chrisbaldwin8570 I love how he goes ham villain after we Rejoin with Ardbert ‘The victor shall write the tale, and the vanquished become its villain’
And Ardbert gets the final blow, in a sense. And the writers for this expansion were on another level making Emet...a villain that you know needs to go, but you are sorry to see him defeated. As for why Emet saw what he did....*cackles in 5.3 lore drops*. There is a reason the final part of Shadowbringers has the lore lovers in an uproar (in a good way)! 😉
I do find it funny that the writers basically created a racial supremacist as a sympathetic villain. Emet truly sees other creatures as inferior, broken, or malformed. Yet many people describe his struggle as sympathetic, that they understand his pain (Which in this case is being surrounded by inferior creatures that he feels he must sacrifice in an attempt to bring back the superior race), and that if Emet wasn't targeting the WOL's world many of them I suspect would stand by due to how Emet delivers his beliefs. Emet is, and always was, a truly horrific racist that makes Richard Spencer's desires seem small.
@@chrisbaldwin8570 definitely was a fantastic antagonist.
