This video is the last one for now about pocket watches. Stay tuned for some new content coming next week! If you want to see more about pocket watches, check out this video I made previously: th-cam.com/video/CA5mz-_KZTg/w-d-xo.html
A very reasonable perspective. I would categorize the American railroad watch as something different than a scientific instrument. While technically, it is of similar quality and capability and very expensive when new (subsidized by the railroads), it was a work watch. It was functionally similar to a ship's deck watch as opposed to a marine chronometer. (the wristwatch equivalent would be pilots and divers watches) These watches were optimized for timekeeping AND durability/reliability. I would argue that most of the 'instrument' watches were optimized on precision timekeeping above all else. Maybe an extra category for 'work watches'; just a thought.

Very interesting, thank you for this video!
I am just wondering how much the scale score converts in real money?
I have just been left a pocket watch, it looks like the name is Broutin or Eroutin Frangere or Prangere, have you heard of the name?
HI, unfortunately I have never heard of that name. Can you estimate the time it was made?
@@SillyVintageWatches Sorry i have no idea, is there any medium i can upload a photo of it so you can see it?
