@@gomerpyle7721 the yankee's are outmatched and the dodger's aren't even hot yet and still up 2-0 in the series...they're gonna win playing avg baseball cause they're a lot better than the yankee's.
Ohtani's postseason OB% currently sits at .434. what the hell are we talking about here? Why do the coaches need to explain the concept of "just getting on base" to him, or somehow convincing him to just "accept his walks"? His 11 walks this postseason rank 3rd, behind Muncy and Alfonso (12). Stupid comment.
Yeah, but how many more runs does Ohtani represent if his OB% is .600-plus because he's taking two or more walks per game knowing that the only thing he is going to get in the zone is a mistake? He could have double or more his walk total, and he can steal bases....and he's batting leadoff.....and and those guys behind him are doing damage this postseason. I get what you're saying, you want a hitter swinging for damage, but I get what Maddon is saying too. But you notice Ohtani is doing damage when runners are on base and striking out with nobody on .... because pitchers have to take more risks in and around the zone when runners are on. Taking your walks tightens the screws on pitchers even more in those situations if they know you're not chasing. I'm a Texas Rangers fan and endured Josh Hamilton not taking his walks in the postseason, so....I'm agreeing with Joe. If the guys behind him aren't driving him in...different conversation, but they have been.
@@radamrussell Why doesn't Ohtani just hit .450? B/c its hard ... hitting a ball is the most difficult thing in sports... two walks per game is ridiculous too.
@@dsinsocal I'm talking postseason - a series. Regular season doesn't matter. Muncy's OBP was .630 against the Mets. He drove in 4 and scored 5 times...in 6 games. Meanwhile, your stats on Ohtani are off in that regard. His OBP was .548 - he scored 9 runs with 6 RBIs and just 3 more strikeouts than Muncy in the NLCS. Ohtani's struggle-bus was the NLDS, so....after seeing that, I don't know what Maddon is talking about...other than the concept of 'taking the walk' when it's clear pitchers are staying out of the zone and working every count to make you chase or walk you. The boys behind Ohtani were raking in that last series.
Joe Maddon likes to talk but he was the one that put Chapman to pitch like 7 consequitives time in the W.S the Cubs won, he was so lucky after, he really did a bad job managing despite wining the whole thing
Judge cannot have the same series he just had simple as that… yea pitching is tougher in the playoff, but Soto, Torres, Rizzo and even Volpe hit… Yankees can’t win without a better Judge
They manage to outclass the 2 hottest teams in the playoffs. Their starting pitchers just needs to be an average and their offense and bullpen will do the rest.
Judge, Ohtani, Stanton, Betts, Freeman, Soto, Hernandez x2, Yamamoto, Smith, Muncy Etc.
Lets Go!
Goliath vs Goliath. This should be an Epic world series.
The Dodgers offensive lineup depth and versatility will be the difference in this series.
The Yankees bats are too hot right now- I see this rest as a chance for their pitchers to really crank it up
It always comes down to pitching…
This is true. Defensive differences are less significant, but Dodgers will over-power offensively.

I was distracted by the Larry, Moe and Curly statutes/bobbleheads in background of maddons room lol

@@radamrussell Sure, because it's totally reasonable to expect a player to sustain a .600 OB%...

Great show as usual
I’d love to see Joe as the Cardinals manager.

shohei should perfect the knuckleball and put that in the mix
Walker Buehler will be the difference in this series.
I don't think Dave Roberts can talk like Joe does. What Dodgers needs is this kind of wisdom and depth of understandings.
Yankees are soooo glad the Astros took the early exit. Dodgers too.
The Astros developed a new undetectable way to cheat ?

Is joe gonna manage again??
i think the yankees pitching depth will be the difference in the series yanks in 6
yankees in 6. dodgers have no starting pitching
Dodgers made it to the World Series short on starting pitching. What they lack in SP they make up for in bullpen.
What are you talking about? Yamamoto is clearly better than Cole.

The Dodgers faced better pitchers in a best of 5 series against San Diego? Who do the Yankees have besides Cole? Dodgers in 6
yama is a re-habber, missed 3/4 of the season
