Got 300 miles in my first pair of E4's, a great daily responsive ground feel trainer. Quite happy now that I have two more pairs sat in boxes waiting 🙂
Absolutely love the 4s. Recently retired a pair at a touch over 500 miles. Got another box fresh ready to go in the summer. Will almost certainly be trying the 5s.
I don't know, man! The last time I was interested in a Reebok sneaker is 1991, when Dee Brown won the Slam Dunk Contest. Before each dunk, he would pump his Reebok Pump Omni 2's. For someone who can't jump over a crack to save his mother's back, that was good enough for me. Who needs the Nike Zoom Air bags!
I love the design, retro upper, but very nice midsole design. The midsole not too thick like hoka shoes, novablast, and so many mid to long run running shoes, but still very useful for enthusias running. For me it's nicer looking than the previous generation. Very versatile design. I can bring this shoe goes to everywhere
Had every iteration of the energy series. 4 being the best in my opinion. Light and nimble was perfect for me. The extra "stuff" with this one kind of puts me off buying this version. 35% discount from work probably helps lessen that blow haha.
Think the Symmetros 2 is the better bet , much more versatile and you can pick up as cheap as this one if you look around. Great review Ed though did look back at your review of the V3 and you were much more complementary of that shoe than this one maybe ? Thanks 👍
Can you do a comparison analysis between these and the Puma Volocity Nitro 2? Last year, I bought Volocity 1 for $63. I'm about to hit the add to cart box for the Volocity 2 for $74. As a budget friendly " jack of all trades, master of none running sneaker as far as I'm concerned, this shoe is remarkable when it comes to quality and price. A workhorse of a shoe. I know for me, it puts the Nike Pegasus to shreds.
If it's not broke don't fix it. The uppers have always been good in floatride series. The midsole is the same. Great midsole. Awesome price. Picked up two pairs of 4s for 80 quid
i got almost 600km in v1 n still usable, and just bought v4 Orange. maybe the v1 midsole already flatten out over the year, because v4 felt so much cushier , even more cushier than my novablast v1. At the rate how lasting these rebooks are, i guess by the time i need to replace my energy 4, the 6 might already come out lol
@@EDDBUD yeah! It's literally the last pair of FE4 from an outlet store near me. And they were $30 a week before I bought them, with a couple of pairs not exceeding 10
Thanks Edd! US sizes here, I can report that the FRE4 in size 10 was really snug, even without socks (after removing a section of sharp stitching); however I'm swimming in the FRE5 10.5. With socks, and even with the laces tightened enough to cause that aching lack of blood supply feeling, they were still very baggy feeling in the forefoot. Probably good to try these on in person rather than ordering online.
I loved my Floatride 4's. I have 500 miles on them and the outsole is starting to go. I don't think I'll be picking these up soon. The midsole and outsole was the star of the Floatride 3 and 4 for me. Just a no-nonsense, flexible and fun shoe to run in. If your comments about the midsole feeling different are true then this shoe probably isn't going to be for me. And back to looking for no-nonsense, non-gimmicky shoes we go...
Just commented on your recent video about low stack, ground feeling shoes I could find now similar to the hyperion tempo, boston 9,. Well, I found this and I like it's firmness but is it just me or is it better than the Boston 9? Like it's midsole is actually a good firm ride. Excluding the upper though, I preferred the boston 9 race fit. This one doesn't stretch and is hot. I'm surprised what less than $40 (clearance sale) I could get nowadays.
Hi edd 👊 , I did like the floatride foam under foot but it went flat to quick for me unfortunately plus a little to narrow in the toe box ( adventure 4 )
Hi! Now I'm choosing between 3 pairs of shoes that got big discounts. Supernova 2, Supernova+ and Floatride 5. I'm just a beginner runner and I want to choose my first pair. After looking at the reviews, it seemed to me that Adidas is aimed at slower but more “plush” running, is that true? Should I, as a beginner, focus on models with stronger shock absorption? And in general, what do you think about my choice? The price of the models I have chosen is now less than 60 usd....
Yeah, softer is not the direction I would have liked this shoe to go. Oddly, version 4 still isn't available in the US, except for an "adventure" version with a trail-like outsole.
I have had multiple pairs of the the 2, 3 and 4s. The best ride was the 3s IMO, loved that shoe. Not sure about the 5s though, dont think i like the look of the torsion thingy.
Just bought the Floatrode E5 for $80 AUD. $40 cheaper than the next sale shoe I was looking at in the Hoka mach 4. At that price I thought they were worth a shot. Hopefully no regrets.
Sad that they ruined a great serie of shoes. Floatride Energy 3 was amazing, FE4 was very good. FE5 seems to be just decent. I need to find a new shoe...
I have used my FE3 for at least 1200 km. I have decided to retire them but they are actually still fine. Feels not as snappy as I remember from the beginning though. Amazing shoe!
A little disappointed. Not a fan of softer shoes. The 4 was just right for me, but i do like the padded tongue and more cushion around the ankle on the 5. Not sure if I will get this one.
@@EDDBUD I dont, just bought an extra fe4 out of spite, don't you dare try to invalidate my opinion, i will drop another 78CAD on another pair, don't test me.
I've been a fan of Floatride Energy ever since your 1st review of them. I plan on getting the 5, which will be my 3rd pair of Floatrides.

How they keep the price low and others can’t is the secret.

nice. i loved the 3, still wear it casually, skipped the 4, but might give this one a try once they drop a more interesting colourway.

The 35% always does the business. 🤣👍🏼
Thanks Edd. Always appreciate your opinion as a runner and dedicated shoe enthusiast.
Much appreciated John
Look forward to trying these out…
Thanks for the review, Edd.
Any time!
Thank you for the review! I'm a fan since the v1, I'll buy the energy 4. 5 is a bit heavier, the plastic piece looks useless.

Yes but more shoe but a better long run option.
Picked these up today, for £45!! Reebok have them up in this colourway on their website at the insane £45 price point.
Can’t loose. At that price. Cheaper than a slap up meal and more fun.

Odd. Maybe some production variance.
It all kicked off on Friday night in The Shamrock Club, their usual band The Dublin Bay Stormers had been replaced by A Bunch of Wallies.

I just need 2mm more of foam in the forefoot making it 6mm drop and would be perfect to me, symmetros with 10mm still😭
Love the Floatride for its lightness, especially the 4. With extra weight on 5, think i will skip the iteration and stays with the 4
It’s pretty much the same weight. Slightly less flexibility in the midsole

Hey Ed, great review mate. Any chance you can review the Mizuno Wave inspire 19? Cheers
Hi Edd - are we getting a running shoe bargains vid in March? Or are there no bargains anymore 😬 Keep up the great work!
May do one this week as I have spotted a few.

Nothing else around like the Boston 9 now. The 12 is vastly different
Hi edd 👊 , I did like the floatride foam under foot but it went flat to quick for me unfortunately plus a little to narrow in the toe box ( adventure 4 )
Maybe down to the runner. That’s were react and lightstrike seem to work
That color though 🔥
Yes it’s a lovely looking shoe
Got to over 1000km on jy energy 3s now and still love them, are the 5 similar to wear? Or the pegasus Thanks
A little more stable with more torsional support in the arch. Grab a v4 if you can. Closer to the 3
@@EDDBUD Thanks a lot. I love all the shoe videos :)
I loved the two and hated the three and skipped the four. I doubt that I'll be going back. I don't go through enough shoes to experiment.

It’s ok for shorter stuff. Better out there for longer distance long runs.
Great review Edd! If you had to pick one between Vomero 16 and Peg 39 for walking around everyday and occasional running, which would it be?
Vomero for walking. Far more cushioned

Good for comfort. They look massive on my feet!
Hi Ed, what distance do you think is the max you should run in these in one go? 21KM? or less than that? Just about to start training for a marathon
Should be ok for 10 miles or something. It’s down a little to weight, running style etc. the Symmetros might be a better bet for longer distance.
ended up buying them . they were reduced tO $50AUD (£25)!

Not sure. Heard little on that one
Yeah, softer is not the direction I would have liked this shoe to go. Oddly, version 4 still isn't available in the US, except for an "adventure" version with a trail-like outsole.
Softer yet firmer all the same.
Im curious, would you ever use these for racing? Or this is just for logging miles as a daily trainer
Daily running only. Bit heavy for racing

It’s certainly different
The energy 3 didn't give me enough protection on the balls of my feet, is the energy 5 any better?
It’s still pretty low stack for a 2023 shoe. Though some love that
Midfoot seems really narrow tho
Nice!🎉

Direct from reebok is your best bet.

It’s a bit more controlled now. Quite a few said the 3 was too soft. It’s about middle of the road on the durometer scale.
