      Question:
Can you do a video about singers over 70 years old. Like Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Sting and others. Why they can't reach their past high notes. I think at the moment that Sammy Haygar is the only one.

Started as a session guitarist too (must have been on most of the records done in LA at some point of the 80's), but I really like his singing too, solo or TOTO or whatever. But yeah, there are a lot of those guys out there (and new ones coming in all the time), so I guess it's understandable to miss some.

I saw him live and the guy behind me laughed bcoz when I heard a squeal I pointed my camera in Adrian Smith’s guitar (his side project band Smith/Kotzen) not knowing it was Richie Kotzen’s voice that made the high note. lol I would say Richie Kotzen is one of the most underrated, most gifted musician to walk our planet.

And what about the bands Cosmic Dust, Citizen Swing and The Mayfield Four that he played guitar and sung for before currently for Alter Bridge. He also put out a solo album The Year of the Tiger in 2018. And then he also sings and occasionally plays guitar for Slash's band Slash ft. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.

I'm one of those people who started just playing guitar and then learned to sing.
I consider myself to have zero natural singing talent, I was the kid who learned to just mouth the words when we had to sing in school, because I would get pained looks if I actually made a sound. I tried various self-teaching courses through the years (was too embarrassed to actually go to a singing teacher) and none of them worked for me.
But these days I not only sing at jams and open mics, but I regularly get complimented on it.
That massive change is pretty much down to just two things - Your singing course and a lot of practice. It was probably a couple of years of doing the exercises pretty much every day before I felt confident enough to try singing in front of an audience (and that audience was at my regular jam where I knew they would be tolerant and supportive), but eventually, I got there and haven't stopped since.
Now I enjoy singing and I enjoy people's reactions to my singing, they are two of the great pleasures in my life, and I really doubt I would ever have had them without your teaching, so thank you very much.
And if anyone who reads this is in the same "I wish I could sing" boat I used to be in, I say give it a go, it takes time and repetition, but it is totally worth it.
Vibrato still pretty much eludes me though, but I think I may finally be getting hints of a proper natural vibrato, but how to develop it?
I see from your website the course has been updated, I may need to upgrade.

I am 100% shocked that Myles Kennedy wasn't in this mix. He and I hung out quite a bit during his teen years, and he played guitar, as a shredding lead player in the late 80s and early 90s era. He was even briefly in my band of 35+ years Amethyst, as our lead guitarist. The guy was very humble, but a great player. He even won an award at a guitar contest at a local Spokane music store around 91/92 era. But look at him now. He didn't even sing background vox for my band or any of his other Spokane younger year bands, until he joined Mayfield Four as their vocalist/guitarist... Then Mark Tremonti picked him up, and the rest is rock and roll history!

Cool list Ken and you've definitely opened a can off worms with this one and I totally agree on your number one. A few omissions would be Dave Gilmour, Rik Emmett, Steve Lukather , Tom Keifer and Miles Kennedy. Just a few of my favourites. Keep up the good work, love the channel.

Though maybe not in the top 10...we just lost Myles Goodwyn (April Wine) R.I.P. In Canada Myles was a rock giant, I mean... right up there with Canadians like Geddy Lee, Rik Emmitt, Kim Mitchell. He was great on guitar and vocals and an amazing song writer, he filled the house everywhere he went in Canada for decades.

Very glad to see you include Clapton and Frampton on the honorable mentions. Both are very underrated singers. They might not be among the greatest by any means, but both are very good in their own right. Rik Emmett of Triumph, Ty Tabor of King's X, John Sykes, and George Harrison would all make my list as well.

Man, I love Richie Kotzen. Had he been born 10 years earlier he’d be perhaps one of the most famous rock musicians. Soulful in everything he does and performs great live. Had to a chance to see him in Montclair, California in August 2022
