I've been all over the state of California and there is at least 1 classic car in a garage on every block no matter what city you go to. Hello from the high desert of MOJAVE in Phelan California. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍 and hit the like button 👍 to help the program 👍 😀 Lenny
Couldn't have said it better. I have found many California original barn finds. Rust free over rust bucket anyday. I too am a Mojave Desert resident. Howdy neighbor.
The problem with California is you pay California Prices and Salt rust from the Salt Water immediately west of California and is in the air, where as you can drive a couple hour east to Arizona and pay 25%less for a better car and no Salt Rust, I live here in Northwest Arizona and not only is there a classic car in a garage on every block there several plus alot of them daily drive a classic car, I have a neighbor that has a 68 Impala, only car he's ever owned since he started driving in 1972, his wife has a 75 Datsun B210 that she bought brand new while she was in college at UNLV and it's the only car she's driven since and that's a pretty common thing here, our desert cars don't rust away and with proper maintanence they last forever.
The AMC certainly does take the cake. What a horribly, beautiful, look back in time. So immaculate and yet so um-appealing. Easily one of your best shares. I love these rides!
The hornet was the best car on this video, they were great cars when they were new, I knew someone that had one when I was a teenager and they were solid.
Hey Solon, I love your videos but I have to admit that in all my 64 years of living I've never heard a Mustang MACH 1 called a MAC 1. The word MACH has to do with the speed of sound. You know the Fighter Jet has a top speed of MACH 2.5. Keep up the good work. Tom
LOL! Thanks Tom! I got scolded a few videos back for pronouncing it as a "Mark 1" ( that's how we good 'ol country boys pronounced it all these years in my small town) so I took to the internet to see how it was electronically pronounced and the electronic voice pronounced it as "Mac 1" so I went with that at the last minute, but the actual pronunciation is " MOC 1 " I goofed again! I appreciate you viewing! Thanks brother!
The 63 Mercury Meteor & 65 Fairlane are pretty close cousins, same platform..Love the Maverick too! My classic came out of one of the Carolinas ,in good condition ,,ok by me..
You found some nice ones! Good job! Just for fun , mispronouncing some names of states or cities, would be a hoot ! From the lovely town of Boston , Mastertwoshitts, we have baked beans and a ‘68 Mercury Cougar! I drove a truck since’80, and you can find out quickly if someone has a sense of humor. Learning how to read people very quickly, it’s the key to getting unloaded, reloaded, and back on the slab ! Thanks for videos, Hoss! You’re doing great.
Thanks, Staylo! I appreciate those nice comments! I mispronounce so many already! You can the boy out of the South, but you can't take the South out of the Boy! LOL! Thanks brother! Some good ideas there!
@lenny9926 You did not understand what I said, it would be a great first driver, for a young kid to have for their first car, they don't need a V-8, it's a new car and great 6 cylinder engine 👍
@kennnethrohm4448 it's too nice to give to a kid . and we are watching 👀 a hotrod show . PS.I was just surprised to see how small it was under the hood.
@@lenny9926 Nah, it's a perfect daily driver, Daily drivers don't have to have a V8 in it, yes it's a hot rod channel but the TRUE definition of a Hot Rod has nothing to do with a V8, most of the TRUE Hot Rods that started the whole rod rod movement were either 4 bangers and Strait/Slant Six's, in the mid and late 40's and early 50's the V8 were RARE and they were building 30's and very early 40's cars and V8's in them were even rarer. V8's in "Hot Rods" is a relatively new thing, it REALY didn't catch on until the late 70's-Early 80's when all the muscle/large cars of the 60's started getting some age to Uncle Leroy pulled the 350 Rocket out of a 68 Delta 88 and slapped it Grandpa's 38 Ford Coupe that Grandpa chopped the top on and hopped up Strait Six in 1946 when he first came back from the war and then slapped a coat of Barn Red paint with a paint brush..... I'd clean that Hornet up and drive the piss out of it then when it started getting miles on I'd Restomod it.
Well, if I didn't have my 1977 T-bird with a modest 351 V-8 , and restored, I would jumped on it myself, with 17,000 documented miles on that wonderful look classic, I'm 71, it would last me the rest of my lifetime
Gotta say that Hornet was my pick! Beautiful car! The pair of Darts looked like the best deal, though. I'm thinking New Mexico is a good place to look for rust free projects.
The AMC Hornet, while not much of a chick magnet, is my favorite car of the night. I like the plaid interior accents. The best State to find quality old cars is California, bar none. The worst is New York State. The rust bucket capitol of the USA. I appreciate all the work you put into this. Thanks Solon.
I agree with the plaid, my buddy and I are getting ready to to build a budget build hot rod 63 Chevy truck sitting on a 84 Olds delta 88 frames and were going with plaid inserts for the seats, headliner and door panels. BUT I disagree with California being the best state, Arizona is the best state to find cars and it's not even close Nevada is 2nd.....the problem with California cars is your paying California prices plus everything that has spent any good amount of time near the coast has salt rot, they aren't much different than most of the Notheast and Midwest, where as you can drive 3 hours over to Arizona and get the same car for 25% cheaper plus it's not full of salt rust.
I'd have to say The Show Me State. Missouri. Then Kansas. And of course my beloved home state of Kern Beans and Bacon. Iowa. But we've been picked over pretty good. Their still out there but you really have to hunt. Missouri though. Those rural folks dont discard anything. Some of my best finds have came from the Show me. Great show! Keep em comin! 👍👍
Yeah but Arizona has the highest percentage of classic/vintage cars still on the road being daily driven according to the American Insurance Commission. it's somewhere in the 27%-28% range, that's almost 1 in every 3. I live in Northwest Arizona and in my area it's even higher than that, I would safely say it's 35%-40%.
Well I live in Arizona, that's the best state to car hunt period but outside of Arizona the best state is Nevada. First off there's a TON of cars just sitting around and second like Arizona Nevada gets very little rain so the cars don't rust as fast as fast of the rest of the U.S.
Just because it’s for sale in the rust belt doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a bad deal, easily could have been bought in the south. Also a lot of cars were taken south with a lot of guys who just wanted to keep their cars and they are coming back to the market, the history of some of these older cars is suspect. So do your research and have it checked out before buying
I love seeing the cars; there's a big diversity in the years, models and condition. But man, do you torture the names of some of the cars and many of the locations. So much so that I was surprised when you got Patchogue right. The butchering of Massachusetts is a Southern thing I've heard before. And I wasn't sure if Ohio was considered to be in the Northeast, but South Carolina? I keep watching, though. Like I said, you find some neat cars.
Overall, California remains the best state for old cars, but Florida is good too. Wow! That clean Maverick was a steal, should sell for $20K+. The Mustang is also undervalued at $10K even though needs work; classic and popular body style.

The AMC hornet is vitally a new cat for $10,500 what a great deal for a new driver in the family 👪 😊
But there's not much room under the hood for a V8. It needs a good cleaning and a spot in a car museum .

California has alot of old cars man there everywhere
You can find a lot of rust free or low rust ones out that way as well!
Elderbrock once again. Where would I go to buy an elderbrock intake?
From the “elderbrock” dealer! Lol!
Any documentation for the mileage on that AMC hornet

Thanks Scott!
I've read and heard the state of Texas has the greatest number of old cars in junk yards in the country.
Great info! I did not know that, but I’m not too far from Texas wouldn’t be too far to go to look for those!

Good answer!
Street Rod Nationals in Louisville this week Thurs-Sunday
I’ve been to that one before it’s a good one! How are you?
That is a good one!
Great, I live in the Ville. Really enjoy American Rod.
Arizona
To whom do I get in touch with if I want to buy one of these cars?
Tow truck bait sure went up in price back east.
Number 10 the Mack one ,
That looks like a Tree Smasher
Lol!
Two cars you showed that I never seen and thought they were unique is the Delta 88 two doors and AMC Hornet.
Thanks William those were nice ones!

Yeah, it seems to be so, I’ve seen numerous pictures of old cars just sitting out in the desert abandoned!
I prefer any state that doesn't use salt on the roads. That excludes MY state.
Lol!

Good assessment Will, I think your point on!
TENNESSEE. I'm a over the road trucker I see more daily driver rides in Tennessee than any other state.
A lot in those barns in the hills as well!
Never been to Arizona huh?
I really liked the elcomino I've owned 2 70s a 71 and a 72 a 66 and 68 the 66 was the fastest my 70s were the best looking
Those were nice rides!
Those were nice rides!
.....did you notice the 454 badging on the front fender ?? Some one removed the original engine and dropped in a 350......
Would anyone want to explain the difference between a torque converter and a dual torque converter? Thanks!
LOL! We thought you might know!
@@Americanrodshop I did some research but came up with nuthin. Sorry team!
TN!
Texas or Las Vegas
California has the most classics, I would bet
Its the best state since most cars have minor rust but its also the most expensive. The southwest or midwest is the next best thing and cheaper option

Thanks Carl!
good grief these prices are nuts. Maybe 2 decent cars in the bunch
I thought they were all good ,,but can't afford em all 😃
I just learned that Ohio was in the northeast.
LOL! It's that 500 mile search parameter thing going on!
They are pretending to be Pennsylvania 😎
Finish unfolding your map...
It's more Northeast than it is Midwest like people THINK it is. Columbus is 150 miles closer to Buffalo New York than it is St. Louis Missouri.
Texas is 1 and california are best for low rust vintage auto's.
Good state choices!

I didn’t think about Montana but yeah you’re probably right!

Ohio is the best place to find old care

What's a Mack 1 ???
LOL! It's one less than a Mack 2!
My only comment is that people are serious about selling they ought to spend a little time with engine compartment and other cleaning issues.
Yeah, that definitely speed a sell up!

Oklahoma
Good state for sure for cars!
