@@JBVXR Agreed, yes, hard to follow a race when we barely know what lap we're even on, same reason why I don't think 5min race highlights are any good. Overtakes are cool, but I think knowing and seeing what happens before and after is just as important to us - nerds, I guess. for me it's a lot about actually seeing how the cars handle alone, with some knowledge on motorsport you can usually tell more than any weird infographic could

The fact road legal editions of the TS020 exist is crazy
Fun fact, the Nissan r390 and Toyota ts020 are based off the exact same chassis, they were made by the same chassis company.
One - just one road legal TS020 exists, iirc, and sits to this day in the TMG racing collection in Cologne, Germany
They *had* to exist because of the homologation requirements of GT1 at the time. That’s also the same reason why the Dodge Charger Daytona road car exists.
It still puzzles me how replicas of insane machinery only seem to exist in the niche.

Now that Reiza has *finally* seemed to figure everything out and mostly fixed the Madness Engine, I’d love to seen them add the GT-One and R390 to the rest of the GT1 grid so we can do a proper championship with all the accurate weather changes, points rules, and whatnot.
Then again, there are tons of other things I’d love to see as well because I’m a spoiled simracer.

Man, the Ferrari 333 brings back memories of Max Papis ragging it around Daytona.
I think that was Martin Brundle who had the blowout coming into the first chicane at night. Katayama also had a blowout but did one of the most awesome saves I have ever seen to keep that thing on the road!
And if I remember correctly he still recovered and was chasing down the leader until the gearbox started giving away

correct. The number 2 McNish Boutsen Kelleners car got punted by a private Porsche 911 (993?) at Dunlop at night. BMW then just walked it to the overall win after the Panoz' werent quick enough and the remaining CLR was parked.
@@mrwhiteshorts if I remember rightly that crash basically ended boutsen’s career as well, really nasty shunt.
@@kchix Aye, Boutsen was of the same era as Brundle so... an 80s racer in 1999! He was 42 at the time. Yes, finished his career, not sure if it was his back or something similar.

This is a great car pack and very reasonably priced, my favourite has to be the totally not a Ferrari 333 SP "Ferruccio 33" just for the V12 engine noise.

Excellent video Jimmy- I agree with all the other comments here saying we wouldn’t mind this type of video becoming more commonplace on the channel: just taking a car around, showing a good race, and providing good commentary. I was fixed on this video through til the end!

You’ve got to try the VRC prototype pack as well. They are very similar in terms of lap times to RSS pack and there are cars like not Bentley Speed 8, not Audi R10, not Panoz prototype, not Cadillac prototype and a definitely not BMW V12.
Also jimmy the TS020 came second in 1999 and was leading the race until a late tyre puncture due to debris on one of the chicanes on the mulsane straight

Fell in love with the TS020 and the toyota minolta (I think its actually called the 88C-V) while playing GT5. The 80s and 90s were so crazy for endurance racing.

Le Mans in the 90s was glorious. The GT ONE is one of my favorite cars of all time unfortunately it isn’t in GT7
This brings me back to the Gran Turismo 4 days. Me and my buddy had this rivalry, I drove Supras and the GT one and he drove Skylines and the Nissan 390. Good times.

Thank you for showing us less technical numpties how to experience this wonderful mod.. i will check out race sim studios.. i design and make custom sim stuff (physical control and environment systems) So i'm cool with hardware but i am amazed at how deep reaching and proper fanatical (in a good way) the community is..!!

Only one small criticism, that clip at 5:21 is not the CLR crash, it's a GT-R that crashed at the Nordschleife and killed a spectator. Maybe showing a non-fatal wreck might be a better choice for a joke clip (original CLR, 911 at Petit Le Mans or something)
I absolutely agree. Whoever the editor is, they clearly did not pay attention to the story behind that GT-R crash clip. Edit: If I remember correctly, the CLR was an mod by URD (UnitedRacingDesign), but it has vanished from their store page a while ago.

Speaking of tire blowouts, around 2004 Bridgestone had serious trouble with its motorcycle tires failing. At the Mugello MotoGP round, Shinya Nakano suffered a rear tire blowout on the front straight. The headlines claim he was riding at over 200 miles an hour, and anyone who knows Mugello also knows it's doable for the MotoGP bikes. Incredibly Nakano suffered no serious injuries.

hi jimmer i just found out that you can rally in AC, there are many many mods! I as a dedicated AC fan for some years now didnt know about it and i think not many people know about this. theres even a codriver mod :D. maybe you could cover that stuff too, id love to see it:)
I remember back in the good old days of GT3 and 4 loving the sound of this car in game. Sounded like a synthed V12. And then how massively disappointing it was to find the car on TH-cam years later and being underwhelmed by the sound of a flat-plane v8. Ah, but still the nostalgia draws me back.
May I suggest you try again the Abulzz Targa Florio? The track progressed immensly and it's now the best Targa available in every sim

Have you tried the Rollovers Vantage GTE from 2017? It’s the best Aston I’ve ever driven in sim and they have the sound nailed and reckon you’d love it!

As a dirty Yank, my preferred Toyota beast will always the Eagle MkIII GTP since I grew up with the golden age of IMSA GTP and 24 Hours of Daytona instead of Le Mans. But the GT-One is definitely a beauty as well.

You saying about assetto being the most realistic, it is by far. The giveaway is that you can learn a track, go do a track day in a similar car and apply the exact same lines, braking points, etc.
