Watch and learn how to apply a builder gel overlay on natural nails next!!! ⬇️

Excellent tutorial. Very helpful. Love your nails. I just started using others rubber base about 2 months ago. I like it
Thank you so much Carolyn!! It’s really a great product to use!!
What is that tool you’re resting your fingers on as you paint? It looks handy 😊
Love it! Your nails are beautiful! 😍
Aww thank you so much!!!!
I used rubber base for the first time a week ago. I used Aimeili. The application wasn't a problem, but it started lifting on several nail after only a couple days. Not sure what I did wrong 😔
I’m so sorry- that’s super frustrating!! I haven’t used their rubber base but I will say- their builder gel lifted on me no matter what I did! I used other brands of builder gel and didn’t have that problem. What primer or bond did you use?
@Nicole's Beauty Scene young nails primer. I'm thinking that I just need to try a different brand of rb
@@amandanoble6620 I would try another brand! Young nails has fabulous primer so I would guess it’s the quality of the rubber base unfortunately!
I use the Aimeili rubber base too! I’ve learned just need to make sure it’s FULLY cured and it does take longer than typical gel or builder gel. The first layer that’s on the natural nail really needs to be pressed or scrubbed into the nail for good adhesion. I’ve done rubber gel fills using this method and it lasts until I file it all off or use acetone!
Your nails are so pretty. This helped me. Few questions Can I use just the slip layer? I am a polish wearer who wants some more strength and d protection for my nails. They are naturally thin. I don’t want an apex. Are there any issues with me 1 or 2 things coats can I go right into applying my regular polish? Or do I need a top coat? Thanks so much for the content.
Thank you!! You can just do a thin layer absolutely! The apex is needed as your nails get longer or they break. You can do 1-2 thin layers of the rubber base, curing in between each. After the last layer of rubber base, wipe off the tacky dispersion layer with alcohol. Gently file it, then wipe again with alcohol. Apply nail polish base coat and then you can do nail polish and finish with nail polish top coat!
@@NicolesBeautyScene can’t wait to try this.
Great tutorial! Can you use regular nail polish over rubber base gel ?
Thank you so much!! I haven’t tried regular nail polish over it, but I don’t see why you couldn’t!! I’ve dipped over them and done gel!!
I tried on a plastic nail and no problem buuuut, ngl😅 I haven' t tried on my own ones. Anyways, the regular polish glided perfectly and dried even and shinny like in any other surface. Hope it helps🧛🏻♀️🖤
@@sebumpostmortem Thank you ❤

Can you mix gel with the rubber base if you want a different color?
I have tried mixing colors either builder gel and it works great! I haven’t tried with rubber base, but I would start with small amounts of the color on a nail art palette mixed with the rubber base!
I've done every step and my nails still peel at bottom. I even tried a different brand. I don't know what I'm doing wrong
Oh no I’m so sorry!! Are you using a liquid cuticle remover during nail prep? That often cause lifting!
Ok question cause I’m super new to this.
When done and applying a nail color like a dip powder or whatever does it have to be gel nail polish or could I just put on whatever nail polish I want?
Hi! Yes you can do dip or nail polish or gel over rubber base! You just need to gently file the top of the rubber base after fully curing and wiping off the tacky layer.
Then if you’re doing dip- do a thin layer of dip base, let it fully dry and dip like normal (you should only need 2 zips of color and 1 of clear since you build an apex with the rubber base).
Then if you’re doing gel colors- you can go right in with the gel colors bc the rubber base cures with tacky layer left on it for the gel to adhere to.
If you’re doing nail polish over it- wipe off the tacky layer with alcohol, file it gently and then wipe off again with alcohol. Then nail polish base coat, nail polish colors, etc.
@@NicolesBeautyScene thanks so much for the answer!
I want to grow out my nails but I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older they started to break more easily etc and nothing I’ve done has helped that.
There are a cpl different brands I want to try like Mooncat but don’t see the point of my nails are gonna break.
Then I got into the dashing diva circle and was using those but they can get pricey and really damaging at least to my nails.
@@rachelr8897 you’re welcome!! I would say either rubber base or builder gel then! If you’re in the Us or Canada- OG Dip Powder has fantastic hema free rubber base and builder gel!

What is your preferred way or what are the options on how to remove rubber base gel? Especially when it is lifting
And is it OK if you just peel off the rubber base gel from your nail if it’s lifting? Or is that bad for your nail? Sometimes both the rubber base gel and the peel base will come off if I file it off.
Also I don’t know if you have any tips for taking off the peel base and keeping the rubber base gel on the nail at the same time? Sorry for all the questions.
@@CharleneChan you can ask me as many questions as you want- happy to help!! So I only use an efile to do fills and remove lifting. Most rubber bases are soak off but I haven’t soaked off in acetone in over 3.5 years! I use a coarse safety carbide bit to remove some of the bulk and then switch to a sanding band when I’m close to my natural nails and to remove any lifting. With the right nail prep and good products along with proper lamp- your rubber base should stay on really well with minimal lifting around the edges. You definitely don’t want to peel it off as that will tear at the top layers of your nails!
Here’s how I prep my nails before applying rubber base or builder gel!
Cuticle prep natural nails with efile for builder gel overlay/ dip powder nails
th-cam.com/video/OrtNtQINBjo/w-d-xo.html
@@CharleneChan you might need more peel base if it’s pulling up your rubber base. Some people need a layer of gel top over their rubber base as well before peel base. Make sure the peel base it totally dry before applying any product over it. That will help!
Thank you so much!! I will give your tips a try!
@@CharleneChan you’re welcome!! Let me know how it goes!!
You’ve mentioned IBX nail treatment and rubber base. I have weak nails and gel always lifts at the free edge on me. Can you please provide specific product information? I’ve researched the IBX but there are multiple products. Do you use all of it or ? Is it the same as the rubber base you mention?
Hi! I’m not sure what IBX nail treatment is. Rubber base is a thick viscosity gel you can use as an overlay on your natural nails and it cures flexible. You can also use builder gel as an overlay in your natural nails- builder gel cures hard. To stop lifting that starts with a good prep, then you need to do Dehydrator and Primer, then you can do in with your rubber base or builder gel. I’ll link some other videos on prep!

when using rubber base gel should you wipe w acetone before doing designs with gel color or is it not an issue?
Nope you don’t need to wipe off the tacky layer! I like do gel base over it and cure. Then designs!
I planned to use this as a base coat to builder gel. Is that something I can do?? Someone suggested rubber base to me as a way to get gels and dips to adhere better and last longer 🤞🤞
Hi Allie!! Yep- You can use this under builder gel if builder gel doesn’t adhere as well for you! Some people get better adhesion with rubber base but want the hardness of builder gel. But you can just wear it without builder gel as well!
@@NicolesBeautyScene great! Thank you!!
is it possible to use the robber base (the clear) without any ruber base color?
Yes! There is a clear rubber base that I just used in an upcoming video! From the same company as this one- OG Dip Powder and it’s hema free!!
ogdippowder.com/products/i-can-see-clearly-now-rubber-base-gel
if i’m doing biab nails do i apply a rubber base first? will it help? iv tried biab gel to strengthen my nails bc they are paper thin and so brittle but when i do biab on its own it lifts and chips and doesnt last long😢
Hi! If your nails are thin and brittle- rubber base might be a better base layer under builder gel! What’s your nail prep before BIAB? That also affects adhesion.
If you do the gel base and top at the end after applying rubber base, and then decide to do the peel base and dip powder at another time, do you just file off the gel base and gel top beforehand?
Nope you do the peel base right over the gel top!! Make sure you push back your cuticles and wipe the gel top coat off really well with isopropyl alcohol.
thank you!
@@CharleneChan you’re welcome!! Happy to answer questions anytime!!
How much time need cure in the uv lamp?
Every gel product is different but typically to full cure is one minute.
Hi! Do you have a link to the thin art brush?
Hi! absolutely! Here it is!
ogdippowder.com/products/dual-sided-nail-liner-brush
Do you cap the free edge with rubber base gel application?
Yes I do a little bit! I do that with builder gel as well!
Thank you so much for your quick response!@@NicolesBeautyScene
Can you do a video using rubber base and dip?
Absolutely!!! Do you want me to do it directly over rubber base? I’ve done manis with peel base in between.
hi! i just started learning how to do my nails. i tried applying rubber base for the first time and it came out pretty lopsided 😅 the tips of my natural nails are even coming out a bit. to do them over, should i drill them down and fill, or remove them completely and try again?
Hi! If they’re coming off the tips of your nails, definitely remove any lifting and file them down before trying again. Make sure you prep your nails and apply dehydrator and primer before rubber base! Did you do that?
@@NicolesBeautyScene thank u so much for responding!
i did apply dehydrator and primer, i think i may need to buff my nails more during prep. would passing an isopropyl wipe before dehydrator+primer also work?
*also i think i applied way too much gel lol it’s already lifting
@@littleelephant367 you absolutely can use isopropyl alcohol before dehydrator and primer. Make sure your primer is for gels and leaves a sticky residue! Flooding your cuticles will cause lifting for sure. Plus getting gel on your skin can cause gel allergies over time. And you definitely don’t want that! You can use a tiny bit of acetone on an angled clean up brush to wipe off any gel that gets on your skin.
@@NicolesBeautyScene thank u so much ! i’m going to be trying again today :)
@@littleelephant367 good luck!!!
What can one do if the rubber base gel is really think coming out of the jar?
Hi Kimberly! Rubber base should be decently thick! Is it hard to move around or does it apply ok?
try warming it up a little. i usually put the bottle inside my bra while i'm prepping my nails, so that the heat of my body warms it up some.
Can I use this to build structure for my medium nail tips?
You absolutely can!! You can use it over it.
@@NicolesBeautyScene Thank you 🥰
@@Fur_ball you’re welcome!! Make sure you rough up the top of your full cover tip, wipe it off with alcohol before applying. This way the rubber base has something to adhere better to.
@@NicolesBeautyScene 👍🏻 Will do. Thank you again ❣
Can you use regular base gel instead of rubber base gel?
So rubber base gel is kind of like a combo of builder gel and regular gel. You don’t need gel base under most rubber bases from what I’ve seen. This one from OG doesn’t need gel base under it. You can’t dip with rubber base. It’s used like you would use builder gel.
@@NicolesBeautyScene why can't you dip powder with rubber base tho?
@@christianluz602 you can use it over rubber base, but I wouldn’t use it with rubber base. Rubber base is a thick viscosity gel. When you use gels to dip- you want them to be applied as thin as possible, so with a regular gel base. You could always get, but I’d be concerned they wouldn’t cure properly.
What brand are you using ?
OG Dip Powder- it’s hema free and fantastic to work with!
ogdippowder.com
Can I put rubber base over builder gel?
Yes you could! But typically people do the opposite- use one thin layer of rubber base as a base coat for under builder gel instead of gel base. This is because some people get better adhesion with rubber base as the base of BG.
When should you use a builder gel vs a rubber base ?
Hi Daniela! Rubber base is typically for people with thinner, more flexible nails. Whereas builder gel is for typically for people with harder nails and ones who don’t have a natural c curve to their nails. I personally use and love both! I prefer builder gel when my nails are longer but have had great success using both with short and longer nails! Have you tried either?
I’ve tried rubber gel and was having trouble with it which is how I landed on your video which was really helpful, my nails are pretty short so I definitely am on a journey to grow them out and didn’t really know the difference so I was considering investing in a builder gel but I didn’t want to bite the bullet because I’m still new to doing my nails and I barely have the hang on a rubber base. whenever I’ve used it, trying to make it even has been my biggest struggles have any tips or recommendations to which one is more likely to help nails grow ? Sorry for how long this paragraph is 😅
How do you remove rubber base?
I efile it off and do fills or redo it! You can also soak off the one I’m using. Let me know any other questions you have!
