Saw your dad live five times in the 80’s and he never failed to bring me to my feet. Much like yourself I longed to be a musician while growing up, but eventually had to settle for being a drummer. At 65, I’m now retired. Your dad was the true King! Be well!

Exactly! His notes were right in the passaggio, very challenging for many singers. His voice was seemless.

Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys is also a musical genius. His genius reveals itself through the production and musical arrangements you hear when you listen to Pet Sounds the same goes for the song Good Vibrations which was supposed to be a track found on Pet Sounds follow up Smile. Everyone knows the story of Smile and Brians mental breakdowns that occurred in the years following. I bring all this up to establish a timeline for Brian Wilsons genius. Brian Wilson is quoted referring to the song Good Vibrations as a "Pocket Symphony". Any Beach Boys fan or Good Vibrations fan would agree with that description.
I have always been a huge Roy Orbison fan and love playing Roys lesser know songs that are as good as some of his hits.
I get overly passionate when Im talking to other huge Roy Orbison fans, especially when I reveal which songs are my favorite and why. Or just talking about his songs in general.
I will say this, if songs like Good Vibrations are "pocket symphonies" then it only fitting to call Roy Orbisons songs like " Running Scared", "Crying", "Wild Hearts Run Out of Time", "Pantomime" & "In Dreams" ROY ORBISONS "POCKET OPERAS"

What year was this interview from? I heard Alex state almost 20 years since the Traveling Wilburys, yet it states 'following the release of The Ultimate Collection in 2016' which would make it 28years since then.
Fabulous interview all the same and Alex sounds one of the most articulate musicians across the board who's very humble. If anything, he sounds just like Roy.
Is Alex Belfield actually interviewing Alex? The voice sounds different despite being on The Voice of Reason's channel.

How good was Roy Orbison technically? He was in a 20th Century Tenor Company of TWO! Music scholars suggest that Orbison has a three-or four-octave range and his powerful, impassioned voice earns him the sobriquet “the Caruso of Rock.” In fact, Roy Orbison and Enrico Caruso (Classical Tenor) were the only 20th century tenors capable of hitting E over high C. And, only Roy made it look easy!
