I remember this time, we had severe thunderstorms on May 12th and in the wee hours of May 13th. I live in Rochester NY. I remember during that night I couldn't sleep because of it. I used to be afraid of lightning and thunder so I'd sleep on my parents bedroom floor, lol.
Have you ever had two severe thunderstorms in a row and one sort of calm and the second strong? I've had last year on June 17.(before my last day of school lol). The first storm wasn't that bad. only some heavy rain and lightning. The second one had loud thunder, cloud to ground lightning, gusty winds and even a small tornado touched down. And the rare thing about these storms is that this happened in Adams NY.(where I live). and we hardly never get storms like that. nor tornadoes. I was really scared.
+BTRCarlosPena14 BTR Adams, NY. Yeah I was near you back in January. I was documenting the lake effect snows there. Something you definitely experience on a regular basis in the winter. And you're right, you usually don't get super intense thunderstorms there, but, they do happen on occasion. And yep, back to back thunderstorms do happen where the second one can be even stronger. So many factors are at play with severe weather set up's. It's amazing to watch it all unfold, and it can be pretty exciting when something unexpected happens. All though, not when it comes to tornadoes!
Scott McPartland Yep! Especially when they rarely happen here! I believe the tornado was rated an EF-2. Last year I think 17 tornadoes altogether touched down in some places of New York. The news said 17. I'm not sure of the total amount. And we do get lots of snow. The past couple of years its been nasty in winter.
Hi Eduardo! This storm did have some pea size hail with it, some other parts of the area did get nickel size hail from what I recall. Thanks for watching!
Heya Scott...I was going over some older videos and I found this one you did about 15 years ago... on 5/10/2000...((I bet you know who turned 40 that same day..I do..)) Anyways........5/10/2000 was a day of big Tstorms everywhere...even here in southern RI..and in western MA((Williamsburg MA was walloped...as there was audiotaping of a huge Tstorm there for me too))..and Scott....2000 was quite a banner year of big Tstorms..even in ''TSTDSBs-endemic southern RI''...Again..take care...TstormJamsoan
James Moulton Hi James! WOW, so you turned 40 on that same day. Yes, those were good storms that came through my area. As you said, several good storms day during 2000, hoping that this year is good as well. We did have two thunderstorms so far over the past week, hopefully that's just the beginning. I will be away for the majority of May, but our season here usually doesn't ramp up until June, so I should be back by then. Wasn't able to film the two storms we did have as one happened literally in the middle of the night, and the other was while I was working.
So good to hear, Scott...well..I was already in my 40s on 5/10/2000...my birthday was on 2/15th...but even though I dislike him all because of that song I hate from 8/8/87's #1 ...I was referring to 5/10/60-born Bono of U2...that was his own 40th on 5/10/2000....Anyways...lotsa lotsa big Tstorms on 5/10/2000...NYC...most of MA..upstate NY..including Endicott NY..and even here in southern RI we had some loud claps...despite daytime temps only near 50... and Scott...5/14/2000...while I was in Plainfield MA...((nothing there)) my dad audiotaped for me aloud 1245am Tstorm here in southern RI~~!! I do hope you capture many of those big tornadic Tstorm during your annual ''tornado-chasing in Tornado Alley'' and add to TH-cam, heeheee..where you'll always garner up 100s of 1000s viewers, lightning-fast, heeeheee... Anywyas..so good to hear....and happy videoing when the Tstorm season does ramp up some.
Good to hear, Alisa..... nice to be in this video loop.... KUTEW means ''Keep up the excellent work'' and Scott is the one that garners up so many 1000s of views on his own awesomed videos..while I barely muster up 100 views even if I ever had another monster 7/28/89-Tstorm video, heeeheee...Scott says he has tons and tons of subscribers which does help him ramp up so many tonheavy viewers.....
Very good memories indeed! Having a lot of fun going through some of my old tapes.
Thanks for taking the time to watch Andrzej!
