- Welcome to the CL Pet Ads where we will evaluate care shown in these ads and discuss with you the good and bad pet husbandry. We will bring up valuable points, what works for the pet, mention what could be improved and discuss a species needs. The focus in these videos will be about educating to encourage the viewer on learning more about the pet and to showcase #ThinkAdoptionFirst. Not everyone will bring their small companion to a shelter or rescue. Many choose to list still on Craigslist. There are hardly any rescues or foster homes for small pets like hamsters, so maybe you'd like to help out your small pet community after seeing this video? Who knows, maybe you'll make a different in the lives of pets and people.

As someone who's from Indianapolis, I can say people are the most neglectful to their smaller and 'powerless' animals. I rescued two Guinea pigs and a kitten who had a broken tail and paw, and it just makes me angry/upset that there's so many bad owners here.
That last Guinea pig one..broke my heart. I have Guinea pigs. That poor baby can't even move in that cage. I'm seriously trying to not cry right now.
Ya I understand accidentally getting a cage that is too small and not knowing but if the animal can hardy move how can you still say it’s ok.
@@Feezee223 exactly. When my guineas were babies we had them in a much smaller cage but we always let them run around the house. But as they got older it became clear they needed more space. Now my piggies have a huge c&c cage I made them that was a hell of a lot cheaper than the ones you buy in pet storea

I keep seeing peiple putting 2 syrians together and I'm just like how do people not know that. Most petstore pamphlets literally tell you they are solitary!! (Petstores are wrong about pretty much everything else though) so sad😭😭😭
Go and steal one of the hams from all of them and set up your own rescue
All the stores around me are putting that right on the cage.

I was curious if there was bad craigslist adds in my area for rodents and I'm just horrified. I found one of a male guinea pig in a tiny hamster crittertrail. It looks like he can barely even turn around.
I changed my cages because of you he is in a quite a big cage but he bar bites so instead i am making a bin cage its massive and its going be half paper and half sand its going to have so much stuff in his cage i wish i could show u when its done 😊

Here in central WI I see "hamaster", "hamstr", "hamst", "hamater" and my favorite one: "hamastor"... that's just the hamster ads. Sometimes I wonder if people let their kids write the title of the ads.
"no food in the dish but they eat insects anyway" hedgehogs do eat bugs but its not their main diet their main diet is either a high quality cat kibbles or hedgehog precision food...and their diet should be just bugs as no one(who i know of) knows how to make a balanced diet of it
Hey Munchie! I just adopted 3 hamsters from local classifieds. The ads were so bad and some of the people.. Ugh! But there was also a person with two sugar gliders asking 370.00 each and one a-hole with a baby rat for free FOR PET OR FOOD! How could anyone give away a baby animal for snake food? I hate people! Love your videos!

Love the video! Tho on the Guinea pig one my girls LOVE cat balls with the bells in it. They push it around and throw themselves at them when they popcorn! 💕🥰
I'd just worry about them chewing on plastic. But it's interesting to know people use them for guinea pigs.
@@MunchiesPlace yeah they aren't longterm toys I'll say that. You have to watch and make sure no chewing or they don't break it apart

I’ve also watched your tiny tales videos and my sister wanted to get a hamster and I told her that making a bin cage is going to be so much better for her hamster and I told her so much that I have learned from you and other great hamster you tubers and the little guy is living so well now! My first Guinea pigs I had a salt lick as I was so overwhelmed in the pet store and I came home and one of the Guinea pig TH-cam videos I watched said no salt licks and I got up and threw it in the bin😅😂😂
I would like to say that there is a chance that the hedgehog didn't need a heat lamp. A heat lamp is only needed if the temperature of where you are keeping them is below 75.
I have a robo in a 200 qt bin cage and I was showing my aunt and uncle her enclosure they loved it but my aunt told me she used to have a hamster many many years ago and she had a little critter trail cage idk what type of hamster she had but it’s to small for any so I was just informing her of the proper care and she thought that was nice
I doubt she’ll get another hamster but still it’s good to inform people so that they know and can inform other people if they see bad care

I'm so glad I found your channel last year yes we knew that regularly marketed cages were far too small (but mostly quit buying them because of price) we still used improper cages. we would use tanks (though I think our last one was actually closer or in a good size, just we didn't provide enough stuff ;-;)

The petsmarts near me charge $15 to $23 for a Syrian, these people want $40/hamster. Robo, Campbell, winter white and Chinese are about $15.
I rehomed one of my dwarf hamsters for $30, but she came with a large bin cage (with a niteangel wheel, sand bath, hideout, food dish, water bottle and some chew toys)

Asking for so much money when you're supplying nothing the hamster needs is ridiculous.

Yes! Same :) that’s a amazing idea! I wish more adults would do something like this, with proper care. For example maybe selling pre-made bin cages with the lids and stuff done, and proper everything else

“No food in the dish but they eat insects anyway” still they need fruits and roots,not only “insects”,they may die if you feed them only insects (also hamsters and gerbils can die if only feed them insects,or only feed them seeds and grains)

Have you any guidance related to keeping both pet hamsters and cats? I currently have a hamster but I am getting two kittens and want to ensure my boy is super safe and remains happy ☺️
Am I the only one that loves to spend money on my rats, just to get them the best toys, hammock and food. I actually don’t get pet store food, I get my food from the breeder who mixes biological foods, I don’t like pet store foods for rats.
But anyway does anyone like to get the best things instead of the cheapest.
I spend a lot on my pets too. It’s so fun to get them new stuff and getting to see them use it.

@@soogymoogi I had to take my hamster to a vet an hour away from my house and all my friends were shocked I took him at all. I told them I adopted him and I’ll take just as good care of him as I do my dog so why wouldn’t I take him to the vet if he wasn’t well. Some People just don’t think small pets are as important as cats and dogs and that’s sad. Every pet deserves good care.

ferret nation cage is hands down the best prefab cage you can buy, just shy of having a bed room dedicated to them. It's SUPER easy to clean, escape proof, and you can separate the top and bottom if you need to for temporary reasons(such as a ferret that may need to be separated due to an injury, ect.)

Guinea pig one isnt too bad. Its pelleted paper litter which is fine for most critters as long as theres no baking soda or zeolite added for odor absorbency.
The puppy pads are scary for sure! Ugh salt licks! Can those just disappear from stores forever?

Imagine how much better the world would be if all hamster items being sold were safe and appropriate for them? Brands would be competing still, but they would have large cages, nice wheels, healthy seedmixes.... I hope the world of hamsters can be like that someday. In confuses me that in my country we have call Phodopus sungorus "talvikko" (Talvi = winter)
But talvikko is also called russian dwarf hamsters.
And every translator tells that talvikko is russian dwarf hamster/winter white in english.
But if I understand right, campbell (Phodopus campbelli) is "russain dwarf hamster" in USA? And roborovski is just roborovski.

Here in the uk cat litter is the most recommended thing for rabbits and Guinea pigs. The wood pellet non clumping kind.
My Syrian hamster is skinny (well it’s small it’s like 14 centimeters and skinny,but it’s healthy) and he can perfectly fit in the tubes

Ugh, that guinea pig. No hay, no hide, no nothing. That amount of what looks like iceburg or romaine will give poor girl diarrhea, most likely. I'm wondering if she "had" a different cage and they're putting her in that tiny ass one just to rehome her in? Still NOT ok but trying to believe there isn't a person out there cruel enough to keep her in there full time.
why is it that the people who want one pet get animals like ferrets or guinea pigs but the people who want two pets get hamsters? Is it just me who gets confused by this?
I'd just like to put out there incase anyone sees this, ferrets need at least 6-8+ hours outside their cage. Google says 4 but that's really not enough.

When my cousin got her dwarf hampster the pet store told her that she needed to give it a dust bath and I was just wondering what you think
you never want to bathe hamsters in water because it can kill them, using dust baths is a safer option but you don't have to do it.
Hamsters use a SAND bath and many even enjoy it, a dust bath gives them breathing problems.

I would just like to say no matter what the pictures look like the situation could be way worse I got two Degu’s And the pictures show that they were in a nice clean cage when I got them there was legit a centimetre of poop diarrhoea and pee on the second floor there is so much betting that they did not need and so much poop and pee it looks like instead of changing the bedding they just piled more on top it was disgusting

To fix a wire cage door that hasn't have a lock or latch well go to the Dollar Tree office Department get the black medium to large clips place the clip on the top of the door in the top wire pushing it all the way in so it does not put pressure on wire this will not allow the door to open. And then secure this clip to the door with natural string or something that in case they animal wants to eat it.
You know what's kinda funny? ErinsAnimals, Victoria Raechel, Munchie, and myself all own hamsters but still love and own cats! Comment if you love cats but also own a hamster :)

I took a look at your cage video and is it the wobbly doors you need to put some large to medium sized zip ties I can't tell if they need to go on the bottom or sides as spacers put them on the door not the cage.
This should take the wobble completely out of the door if you do it right.
The first headchoges cage is too small in my opinion but I don't know because I don't know anything about them but it might be too small

Hello I have a query? I can't find where my hamster is weeing I found two little poos .Her bedding is not wet or smelly ,not in her sand ? Or echo soil , not in her house or her food hoarding place or any substrate I've gone through it .....I'm stumped!!? Any ideas !!?
