True that those things are not real. BUT I am excitedly suspicious that there is some truth behind those “not real details” Suo tells others. For example, Suo doesn’t literally have an evil ancient Chinese spirit sealed in his right eye. But he does have very cold side that he “seals away” within himself. And he had a meaningful change-of-life moment at the time of his eye injury that spurred him to make the decision to “seal away” the “evil spirit” he had within himself. The way the writing is done in the Windbreaker manga lends itself for Suo to have a backstory like that. That writing I’m talking about is how the story builds itself upon details previously given, not one thing wasted, and can come back later on in another moment where both the story and a character/characters advance in their development.

They kept us waiting for a month for more fights. These two were fun warm-ups. We've got one of the Four Kings, Hiragi, in a personal grudge match, the sixteen year old MC against the Shishitoren second-in-command, and Umemiya vs Choji all coming up. It's about to get intense.
hiragi vs sato is next but that one will be insane too . just recently checked those chapters of the manga ... i was speechless, i hope they animated it well

Their subtitles they’re watching may be similar to scanlation/unofficial translations of the manga? I watch the show on Crunchyroll, and the English subtitle translations there are pretty close to the official English manga publication. For further differentiation, what they’re watching is a translation as Americanized as it can get. It does not leave room to retain things like -kun and -san that Crunchyroll subs use. They are small things that anime and manga otaku often learned because of how they help distinguish how things are being said in the Japanese context that don’t fully translate into English because of the culture.
