  • There's many reasons of why an Engine burns oil.
The most common is Probably the Head Gasket.
The Cheapest to Fix is probably the PCV Valve.
Hopefully, this video helps you in some way to diagnose why your car is Burning Oil.

Do a compression check on each cylinder an see if you got leak down an if so its ur rings or worn out bore or valve seals. Wishful thinking would b the PVC valve

Those 4.7 love to burn oil

      Do they really??
I have a 99 myself that is failing because of burning oil issue.
Anyone have any suggestions as I am just doing the best I know how to hold it together long enough to decide what to do??
I was thinking of just biting the bullet, yanking out the factory 4.7 and putting a Monster built 4.7 which has all upgraded internals inside. Monster can also custom build engines just like they do with their Transmissions.
      Any help or suggestions welcome.
I got a Monster Transmission in December to replace the terrible Factory designed one.
Night and day difference in power delivery and MPG.

I’ve always told myself when my motor goes I’m going to swap in the 4.7 from the wk era.
It has stock the hp and torque numbers of a moderately built wj 4.7.
Then if you wanted to build that motor you’d already be starting at the point of decently built wj 4.7 and depending on where you get the motor from and who does the work, having spent a lot less $$$$, if that sort of thing matters to you.
      It’s been done before.
I don’t remember exactly what the job entails, but I believe the most major/hardest part was swapping the tone rings off the crankshaft on the motors.
Probably would have to swap or flash the computer, maybe a few other small things.
I’m pretty sure the motor mounts and transmission will bolt right up.

      Just and idea.

Or it could even b a bad valve guide or valve seat as well

Question when you had the head gasket and the heads rebuilt they should had rebuilt the heads and put new valve stem seals.

The reason you have 2 o2 sensors is because is a federal emission system. A California emission system has 4.

I think you meant; you had the valve cover gaskets replaced, not head gaskets.

Thanks for taking time to do a video on this common issue, I'm gonna try replacing the PCV valve first and go from there. Do you have an update on this Jeep?

The only update i have, is that it was Worst Case Scenario. Bad Valve Seat. The head had to be taken off, Disassembled, and the Valve seat replaced.

why would u change headgaskets before pcv? leakdown is proper test for rings, not pulling manifolds

  • @flankerroad7414
    @flankerroad7414 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Do a dry and wet compression test, people, before you start digging into an engine. "Vehicular Education" makes me think of "Vehicular Homicide," for some reason LOL

Hate to b the bear of bad news but if the engine is leaking oil onto the headers or y pipe or e even on the pipe itself will not cause it to smoke out the end the exhaust it smoke where the oil is burning off it not out tail pipe

Why in the heck would you do the head gaskets? That is a pain in the ass messing with all those chains.

What would an o2 sensor have to do with burning oil?all you did was throw a stupid part at it that you didn't know anything about.. this is not a diagnosis at all.. lol head gaskets you should put another one on maybe that will fix it
