I live in the Matobo Hills, next to the national park (which is also a World Heritage site too) and it's pretty cool seeing folks explore Zimbabwe. That said, I do smirk at concerns of "danger" particularly when driving from South Africa where violent crime is much higher. I also strongly recommend going off the typical "safari" route (Falls, Hwange, Mana) and consider spots us locals frequent to avoid the higher cost of those popular three.The Matobo Hills, off course in my backyard, are just incredibly scenic and soulful. The Eastern Highlands (and nearby ancient forests) have the most beautiful wild trails, flora and fauna you won't see anywhere else as well as waterfalls to go chasing. Looking forward to seeing your next episode at Matusadona which in my (and typical local's) opinion is best explored by houseboat on the lake.
Many thanks for your insider info´s and your tips! If we travel to this region again, we will include it in our planing ! In October we will go to Gonarezhou NP!
@@the_wildlife_travelers You will love this park. National parks in Southern Africa are typically either Big Game or Scenic. Gonarezhou is both. Be careful of the justifiably angry elephants (literally living up to the park's namesake). Enjoy!!

Hallo, ja, wir haben alle Campsites, für die gesamte Reise, vorab, bereits Wochen vor Antritt der Reise, gebucht. Beim Nyamepi Camp wäre dies vielelicht nicht zwingend nötig gewesen, bei den exklusive Camps auf jeden Fall. Im Nyamepi gibt es einige Camsites, die nicht so attraktiv sind und nicht direkt am Zambesi liegen.
@@the_wildlife_travelers Danke für die Info. Wir machen das auch überwiegend. Es macht das Reisen leider weniger spontan und flexibel. Aber es gibt eben doch nur begrenzte Campmöglichkeiten v.a. wenn es die schönen Campsites sein sollen.
