  • Turtle Islands Park of Sandakan (Sabah) is one of the best turtle hatchery sites of Malaysia. Tourists can observe mother and baby turtles up-close to see one of the most magnificent marine wildlife in ocean. The turtles there are totally wild. What the turtle conservation project does is to move the freshly collected turtle eggs to a protected hatchery for better survival rate. Once the baby turtles are hatched, they will be released to the sea. Turtle Islands Park has been conserving turtle since 1977 and successfully saved thousands of turtles.
The peak nesting months of sea turtles are from April to August, but turtle landing occurs almost every day. Most turtles land on Selingan Island are Green Turtle and Hawsbill Turtle.
You will have a good idea of the turtle island tour after watching the following content in this walk-through video:
    1. The departure jetty to turtle island (Selingan)
    2. The beautiful beach and natural surrounding of Selingan Island
    3. Accommodation and room (Turtle Island Resort)
    4. Parks Exhibition Hall on turtle conservation
    5. Night program: see turtle nesting and releasing of baby turtles
Turtle Islands Park consists of three islands, namely, Selingan Island, Bakungan Kecil Island, and Gulisan Island. Only Selingan Island is open for tourists. To book a 2-day-1-night tour to Turtle Islands Park, you can contact Crystal Quest at turtleisland.com.my/

I stayed only 1 night. We paid RM400 per person (Included: Room, meals (Lunch, dinner and breakfast the next morning) and return boat transfer), the promotion rate in 2022.

@@mysabahTV Thank you for your prompt reply. Was it worth the time and effort? Where else did you go / recommend in Sandakan? I am going in a week.

@@CambodianGeographic It's definitely worth it. If you are into nature, Kinabatangan, Rainforest Discovery Centre, Orangutan and Sunbear Centres are great places to explore, or you can tour around Sandakan City enjoying some seafood and local delicacies.
