    When I was a kid , I worked as volunteer at a turtle sanctuary. It was so cool watching the whole process of nature taking course. Selingan Island is bucket list for us. Great work and thank you
    for sharing this wonderful video. Truly appreciated. Sending you much love from Richmond, Va. ❤❤ Jim, Harriet and Yuki

      Ahh that must have been amazing! I would love to do that. Where did you volunteer? Is this sanctuary still running? 😊

    That's so interesting that they can choose the sex of the turtle by the temperature of the soil that the eggs are in. The sound of the waves soothes my soul as well 😇 It's very impressive just how much they're doing to help turtles. What a torrential downpour! Really loved this video. I love how soothing your voiceovers are!

      Yeah especially because now more females are being hatched due to increasing temperatures! But yeah visiting this island was fascinating to see just how and what they are doing, such extensive research!

    There is also another turtle species, the Leatherback turtle, in Malay we call it "Penyu Belimbing", the biggest turtle between the 3 species

    I think due to security, some part of the island is protected by ESSCOM. As it is very close to the Philippines. Similar to sipadan island.

    Turtle Islands is actually comprised of 9 islands..3 belonging to Malaysia and 6 belonging to the Philippines...all of these islands are nesting sites for sea turtles .. mostly Green Sea Turtles..

    • @talesofodyssey
      @talesofodyssey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah very interesting! I didn't realise there were the other 6, thanks for the information! 😄

      @@talesofodyssey the closest you can get is in Bacungan Kecil island ( little Bacungan) a stone's throw away from Great Bacungan island ( Philippines side)...The most populated is Taganak Island where most Philippine government installations are located.. there's also a Sanctuary in the Philippines' part of the islands...Baguan island... the only uninhabited island of the 6...

    Due to transportation issues, many more islands in Sabah remain unexplored by travelers, particularly those that connect with sea and land.

      @@talesofodyssey Please be careful because in Sabah there are many illegal immigrants from the nearby Philippine islands. They are often scammers for tourists, so please get information from the Sabah tourism information.
