- Oshi No Ko Dropped the Ball.
I know I haven't talked about Oshi No Ko for months, so I thought I'd make an update on it :)
No, no, this isn't about the "incest." I don't really care too much about that. It's rather about the manga's overall inconsistency, be it the characters' behaviour, which is all over the place, or the mystery aspect, which has been pushed out of the window entirely.
With each chapter, more and more ideas and concepts that were introduced earlier in the story are just...forgotten. It feels like the manga makes less and less sense each time I read a chapter.

I feel you. I think Aka tends to lay the ground work for a lot of things but they never happen.
It happened in Kaguya sama towards the end, and now with Onk. Maybe he got bored and wants to work on his new manga.
I think what Oshi no ko needs character and plot development but also they needed to tie up some lose ends before the final arc things like who was Ai and the crow girl really. Finally, I think it would be good if the manga told the perspectives more characters such as Tiki and Hikaru
I agree that the story isnt moving or paying off.
My conspiracy theory is they want 4 anime seasons. Being the last one a movie length sequel to the first episode.
They could "add filler" show how each one is dealling with fans and boundaries. Is thematic relevant, that wasnt explored deep enought to the point of murder.
fans having actual characterization being more then just hater / lovers as Akane arc showed. Specialy for idols that use to have direct contact like fan meetings or online meetings.
It's possible they want to expand on the story in the anime adaptation, but I feel like they could do that regardless of the manga's length.

@@neerajoshi5473 but the endgame is heavily rushed, I expected at least 10 more chapters just for the endgame and how they planned it and everything, and yet we only got a chase scene. Not dissing, I love that show but endgame doesn't live up to the rest of story
@@P_I_G_G_A what do you mean the ending was rushed it was not rushed. It had one of the best endings so many people loved the ending so many characters got closer. They did say before the series ends it would end in 14 chapters so I don’t know what you’re complaining about I’m sorry, but I do not agree with you. I was very satisfied with the ending.

Reaaaaaaally??? I'd give that ark solid 7/10 but compared to the whole series Wich is 15/10. I gotta say it's kind of underwhelming

It does feel like that. I still want to see how it ends though, so I'll leave it on hold until the end is close xD

Aqua was asking kindaichi about lalali but kindaichi shuts him down and later taiki tried to get him drunk to get him to open up. But eventually kindaichi gets drunk and aqua couldn't get the information.
Well, Aqua asked Kindaichi about himself, which led to the workshop flop that Kindaichi didn't want to talk about. It was a brief conversation that Aqua didn't pursue.
My question is, why didn't Aqua ask Kindaichi about Ai specifically? He knew from Kaburagi that she was part of that workshop, as Aqua posed as her fan. He already DNA-tested Kindaichi, so it wouldn't be a weird question.
Like, hey, I know my favourite Idol Ai was part of your workshop. Can you tell me more about her? Simple as that.
I don't understand why Aqua didn't pursue Kindaichi and Lalalai further since he knew 100% that Ai and his father met at the workshop.
@@SylvanesW Aqua was trying to lead up to asking about Ai but Kindaichi completely shut the conversation down before aqua could get into the meat of the topic he wanted to. Aqua insisted kindaichi to continue to tell his story but again he shuts it down. This is a very simple no means no situation. Kindaichi is a important relationship that aqua needs to maintain, if he presses and presses then he runs the risk of damaging that relationship.
Just to add, the only reason why Aqua had a chance to talk about Ai with kuburagi was because kuburagi was the one to initiate that topic. Kuburagi was even reluctantly to talk about Ai on his own accord, the only reason he did it was because he felt like it.
So basically aqua has to go on the whim of the people that has the information he needs, he is in no position to gain access to sensitive information even if he is a big fan of Ai.
i dropped oshi no ko earlier when I saw how the revenge plot was being backseated by uh, idk, goofy, dramatic, edgy themes?? glad I dropped it lol. my girl ai deserves better grrr
Revenge plot is by itself dramatic and edgy, though, lol
Because the revenge plot isn't the series main theme, the main theme is the drama of the industry, idols, actors, etc.
One of the best critical contents i've seen regarding OnK, based on love for the series but many instances of frustration and disappointment
and all that was because of some plot points that Aka thinks is funny or interesting?
Aka is really out there testing our patience and love for the story he presented with such good writing at first
Although I still enjoy the dark side of the industry and it's secrets and details and for me that was the point of the whole series and what Aka wanted to present in a somewhat good plot
And I still believe Aka'll deliver in the end of the series and the pay off will be worth it
I just hope that Aka tone down on this weird plot points that doesn't really feel related to the revange plot which seems to be ending closer than ever
You say "related to revenge" as if that's the main plot of the story and not a plot device for Aqua's character arc (and to a certain extent Ruby)

Ai's character will never be full until we know exactly why Hikaru caused her death
Aka did Akane dirty, she was shaping up to potentially be a useful member of the plot before ch98 but instead she becomes useless for the rest of the series

I agree with everything that was said. I love your videos since gotoubun and everything about Oshi no Ko has become so...disappointing as a day one reader. the criticism about the industry seems like something any 12 year old would write because of how superficial and obvious it is, the characters never leave where they are, the characterization is introduced out of nowhere and we are forced to just accept that it was always there and was just never shown, the mystery just doesn't make sense because we have no information to work with... and the incest plot is, as you said, tedious. It was made to keep people engaged and farm clout, but for what, really? I would understand if incest was treated as a serious topic, but it's only used for bait and comedy. Akasaka needs money so much that he decided to sell his dignity as a writer? disappointing in every way

But yeah it seems like Akasaka is repeating the same mistakes he did in the last third of Kaguya
There's this big gap between the middle point and the last arc where nothing really happens and the plot just stalls over and over
I quite like the weekly drama since I like the caracters but I'll have to binge it once it's over to get a real opinion
And yeah I agree that Kamiki having Aqua's face is a big flaw
Maybe it will be used in a good way to emphacise some similarities between them but there has to be a good reason for it

I was dying to see your reaction and as usual worth the wait. I think I'm just gonna put the series on hold, maybe even wait till it's over. i wanna see where it goes, but I'm kinda fed up with how it's going. It's just spinning its wheels, not really going much of anywhere except the incest route, which is just eww to me sad its happening with this series it feels like a shell of its former self also i love your videos please upload more I'd be down to watch anything you make most of the manga and anime I've seen are thx to your videos.
Yeah. That’s a problem. The story needs another pass. That’s why there are so many holding patterns and loose threads.
Instead of Ruby doing basically nothing in the plot (towards revenge), have the climactic movie arc be Ruby and Aqua team up for revenge, with Aqua being the one with the edgy persona but good morals, and Ruby being the wholesome one with no morals.
Our first major arcs slowly build up to Ruby’s corruption. (Which does happen, but Aka didn’t follow through properly)
After TB, Have Aqua make inquiries into Ai through Kindaichi, and Kindaichi say that it’s a secret and dangerous to go into that. Neatly shutting him down and showing that Hikaru is being protected.
Have the secret be that Ai and Hikaru were accomplices in killing Airi and Seijuro. Then reveal that Ai and Hikaru set up these contingencies together.
Should have had the guts to “defile” Kana, and make it Aqua and Ruby’s fault (even indirectly). Then kill Akane when she dives too deep into Hikaru’s business.
Basically the revenge plot is taking a backseat to Aka showing off his research on the entertainment industry.
There is a chance a lot of the dead plots and inconsistencies get fixed in the anime… but there is not much hope
Don't just blame Aka, I'm sure Mengo played a major part in influencing her weirdness into him

Kindaichi was never going to help Aqua. Neither does Kaburagi as it most likely came from Kamiki himself. Aqua wouldn't know who to Google if he doesn't know his name. Akane is from Lalalai so her viewing the tapes and finding out about him then Googling his name made sense.
What doesn't make sense is Aqua suddenly knowing his father's name just from tailing Akane.

I thought i was the only one who hated the drama / romance in the series bruh all of my friends like that kind of stuff.
Like come on the premise was so good about a guy being reincarnated and want to get revenge for her mother, i don't wanna see some romance / drama type of shit. I mean it's fine if you wanna add it one or two for the change of pace once in a while, but that's not the MAIN reason why I'm interested in the anime in THE FIRST PLACE

I don't even think that's Akasaka's goal, it's clear Aqua doesn't really want it. So it'd be weird if they ended together (esp. considering their age gap)

ruby is a bit differrent, she put everything into gorou
this make her more consistence overtime and only change twice on state of gorou
first from hope, she's finding gorou, in to despair when she found corpse

The reason why he never actively did it was because his motivation changed. After talking to Kaburagi about Ai being Lalalie.
He remembered that Akane is also in Lalalie. Hence why he put the GPS Tag on her. To find his father by tracking Akane's movements and researching the members in lalalie.
He still used Akane.
He wasn't being Irrational for anything. He just never intended Akane to kill Hikaru.
The only time Aqua was "Irrational" was during the moment he thought his revenge is done.
His extreme way of "Protecting" Kana. Is what made him Irrational.

The guy never loved Akane. He dated her cuz he felt bad and he suspected her reaction at the bridge to be strange.
He was basically "Gorou" Throughout their entire relationship." Living for the Happiness of others"
He spent majority of the time living for Akane's happiness.
Hence why he was "Good Boyfriend" to her.

Yea the movie arc is honestly getting boring, I want to know what other characters think about the goings on, ex; I wanna know if something will happen to Akane via kamiki but it’s just not happening. I think it’s finally going to move on next chapter tho, they’ve strengthened the relationship between gorou/sarina, so I’m hopeful…
Personally dont think twincest will happen but they need to wrap this up quick instead of dragging on unnecessary plotlines. Same thing happened with kaguya where the last arc was just random as fuck most of the time and I've completely forgotten it.

Revenge is important but its not main aspect of the story. The main aspect is the reincarnation.
Who was Gorou Amimiyaand why was he Reincarnated?
That's biggest mystery in onk. Because alot of it has to do with Gorou's guilt complex.
The thing with Characters is that they are all trapped in their traumas.
Aqua loves Acting but because everytime he starts acting it gets fun for and he gets a panic attack
Gotanda said this.
"There's a moment where you start to feel like you're having fun. That's the point you have your panic attacks" -Gotanda Chapter 64.
When Aqua is having fun and enjoyinh himself that's when the panic attacks strikes. So he needs to do it for revenge.
Aqua/Gorou does things out of obligations.
He dated Akane out of obligation
He distanced himself from Kana out of obligation.
And is on this revenge because he needs to take responsibility for Ai's death.
As for Kana, she is also trapped in her trauma.
Holding on to her childhood fame which is an hinderence on her Acting.
Kana believes her mother does love her so he can't shine she also misinterpreted Gotanda's words. He wanted her to be nicer to people. Not sacrifice her talent so others can shine.
She genuinely likes Aqua but is a little dependent on him for her star power. She shines cuz Aqua puts the spotlight on her. She wants to impress him so she does her best and give it her all.
In order for Kana to heal and get out of this cycle is by her reuniting her mother.
And other for Aqua to be saved is by knowing that his dead mother in his old life. Did in fact love him.
So he can let go of the revenge and start his life as Aqua Hoshino.

Aqua's purpose is not just to revenge Ai. If that was case why would the gods bother reincarnating with his memories just for him to end himself and take revenge?
Ruby got reincarnated to live her dream as an idol. Gorou didn't even allow himself to dream because of guilt.
And his guilt complex.
I think tend to misunderstand the characters and what Aka trying to do.
All the characters are trapped in their traumas. Ruby and Aqua were reincarnated so they can have a chance to make peace with their past self.
(Along with the fact they help Crow girl)😊

You make great points but I think you're looking at it wrong. Or I at least think the perspective that the story is trying to show is not really about them. On a character level, yeah they're discrepant and very inconsistent and definitely flawed. But to me, I think Aka is more focusing on the Japanese showbiz industry than the story. With the direction it's going, It feels like Aka's priority is first showing one side of the Japanese entertainment industry then incorporate the story into it. That's what I've observed at least.
