What a terrific comedy series this is. Fabulous script and bang on casting. Probably up there as the funniest comedy. No I quite like the ending. Love it when Geraldine plays down the potential wedding from Harry not letting her get taken in by the previous clown on the Christmas day episode with Effa .. lol.. I think David wouldn't have been enough for her to last. No humor and not to her taste. They ended at the right time. Whilst on a big huge high. God bless Alice .. so funny..
I hate to be a bummer about this, but she should have married David. They spent all that time building up mutual respect and friendship and he clearly truly admired her. Despite his various peccadilloes, he was also intelligent, sophisticated, pretty good-looking and certainly no pauper. The whole thing with Richard Armitage sweeping in out of the blue was so cliché that maybe it was part of the joke; yet it seems at odds with the show's tendency to go for a more sincere approach on the issues that really matter. And if love doesn't matter, what does?
They did build up mutual respect and friendship, but I think she did not feel any romantic feelings towards him, and that’s why she turned down his proposal. She thought they were better off as just good friends.
@@Lynwen10 people who aren't used to Christianity on the whole can easily be confused. I went to a church of England school, attended church with that school, and the only reason I know vicars can get married is because the vicar lived next door to my child minder and I saw his wife regularly. If I didn't have the knowledge that that one vicar was married, I would also assume vicars couldn't marry.
@@GitanAnimex Ministers aren't equivalent to priests anyway, but yeah. Anglican vs Catholic, its a difference most people should know. They both wear dog collars though, right?
Easy for outsiders to confuse the Catholic Church and the Church of England, based just on appearances and little personal knowledge & experience of the two. Priests and Vicars both wear similar-looking attire, such as the "dog collar," for services. The Church of England was formed as a separation from the Catholic Church by Henry the 8th so he could divorce his first wife, after the Catholic Church would not grant him a Papal Annulment of that marriage. All 'cause he just _had_ to have a son.

She married Thorin Oakensheild and got wed by lord Grantham
🤣😹💘
she fancied boromir and ended up with thorin oakenshield. funny that
With a dash of Dr. Who thrown in!
Nostalgia alert. Totally still one of my favorite shows.
Awww, Richard really suits her! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hard to believe she's 10 years older than him lol
Agreed!
They weren't a match at all. Richard can't act, and Dawn is obviously much older than him.

So sadd they only made 3 seasons, we needed about ten!
I still watch this. Netflix has all of them. I must have seen each episode about 20 times
O_O Now I know why Peter Capaldi looked so familiar when he played the doctor. I watched this a lot as a kid.
1:31 - That laughter is infectious. Lol! 😂
I've laughed like that twice, lol.

I think RA was the best!
Where is the puddle scene
I✨C✨O✨N✨I✨C
2:43 - penny finally drops
Come on, how did you leave out the part where she turns into a total puddle after she realizes he's proposing?
Just wish they would put more episodes on there....cmon britbox the vicar is the only reason i subscribed.
He looks like young Peter Capaldi!😮
I only know him as a powerful eyebrow Dr.

Yess wish they’d had more seasons to show the romance develop
Same here, I was rooting for David, especially when he proposed the second time and even joined the labour party for Geraldine. Most endearing.
I agree, it was too unrealistic and too fast. David was perfect for her, they ballanced each-other
David and Geraldine were true soulmates

Where's Sean Bean?
Tell me, please, what is the song that starts playing at 2:57, as Gerri and Richard kiss? Thank you, kind & friendly fellow _Vicar of Dibley_ fans. 💖
The towny &&&&&@& was a good looking guy !
Pog
She should have married David 😢
But she's married to Jesus Christ! WTF!!??? Or is that nuns? I understand not these sad, confused beings. May they be well.
She is an Anglican minister not a Catholic priest. Different rules!

Only in Dawn French's woke view of the world would a succession of handsome dudes be interested in a sumo wrestler.. 😂
