  • New duo Gaelic Mist sing the Irish Folk song Carrickfergus.
This is an outdoor recording so please excuse the wind and the sheep!
"Carrickfergus" is a typical lament of an Irish expatriate who wishes he was back in his homeland. The origins of the song are unclear, but it has been traced to an Irish language song, "The Sick Young Lover".
Cairn Holy 1 + 2 are two remarkably complete Neolithic burial cairns, of a type characteristic of Galloway, situated on a hill with fine views over Wigtown Bay. Carrickfergus lies 60 miles to the west across the Irish Sea.

nice song at a nice place, maybe invest in a muffler if you are going to record in strong wind though!
