Slimy fish = bad fish. Any one had sashimi from a fish killed minutes prior? It ain't slimy, if left out in the air a few minutes it starts to go dry if anything.
I always feel sad when people hate fish just due to the fact the fish wasn't fresh, this had caused the idea that all fish stinks when in reality its the bacteria that stinks.

California rolls are usually considered baby's first sushi. Then you usually move up to tuna roll, then salmon roll, the nigiris and then sashimi.
im a child and i eat salmon (maki rolls and sashimi) salmon roe, salmon skin rolls, tuna (with wasabi and soy sauce) tamagoyaki sushi (i don't really know it's real name but it's very good) and eel.

I’m American and sushi is my favorite food EVER!
I'm 16 and I have eaten sushi my entire life, just seeing grown men and grown women eating sushi and acting like 2 year old's makes me wonder how adventurous they are when it comes to other things than just something as simple as eating food from other countries.
Thats what buzzfeed wants reactions, without reactions then they have no video. Most Americans probably would just say they didn't like it and carry on without making a huge fuss.

I've worked with kids as a survival instructor, you want a challenge? get 20-50 kids aged 7-18 straight off the schoolbus cooking their own Fish (trout no less!) over an open fire that they have to make.
They better well like it cos it's all they get!
In that situation kids come around very quickly to new tastes... thoughts and ideas follow and in a week i can achieve what teachers and parents haven't been able to do for YEARS!!! These people expand, they talk in new ways, confront things with new eyes and a whole new attitude, make friends and work far better as a team.

Why is it so hard for people to realize that we all have different tastes? It has nothing to do with being American or being a certain age. I don't think it's childish to not want to try certain foods or spit it out. I hate fish, unless it's mild like cod, catfish, etc. I will not touch tuna, salmon, sea bass, etc. I would never even touch sushi, but you say it's your favorite food. I love mushrooms and tomatoes, a lot of people don't. And that's okay, we don't all have to like the same foods.

I once went for sushi. We bought a plate of hot crab rolls of something if i remember right. Spare me it was hardest half portion i have ever eaten. Only good thing was fermented cinmamon thingy. And just because it's bitter enough to clean sushi's taste.

Why are all these people in the comments being so mean? Lots of Americans don't like sushi because they didn't grow up with it, there are lots of examples of this in other cases to like how most Australians like Vegemite but not a lot of people out of the country do, or how British people usually love tea and most Americans despising the drink. Your taste all depends on how you grow up. Japanese people seem to really like sushi but other countries probably hate it.

Chris Yu It’s a matter of opinion. Some people are accustomed to specific tastes and textures. Not everyone is going to like the same thing. I’m sure there are foods you hate that others find delicious. I love sushi for example but unlike my community, can not stand sweet or iced tea. I also hate wine but like Mike’s Hard Lemonade.
They should have tried Ebi sushi (Shrimp sushi) or California maki.
For Americans trying out sushi for the first time, those two would be great. They could go for the more exotic or traditional ones later when they get accustomed to the taste.

Never tried shrimp? Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.

You have to dip the sushi into the soy sauce/wasabi mix :P And I prefer maki over nigiri ^^

toms1884 nah man you can also dip the wasabi on the soy sauce and mix it and then dip only the raw fish part on the mixed up wasabi/soysauce for extra wasabi flavor. But whatever floats your boat it is fine because there are many different kinds of sushi out there and a different way to eat it.
***** Traditionally, you aren't supposed to mix the wasabi and soy sauce. It's actually considered rude or impolite if you do it. The correct, or tradtional, way to eat sushi is to dip the sushi into soy sauce fish side down without splashing it.
***** True, dipping the sauce on the rice is also rude and some people call it back luck etc. But you forgot that the real traditional way is to eat it with your hands, no chopsticks allowed.

You know that it is very untraditional to dunk it in soy sauce i mean traditionaly you're only supposed to dip the tip of the fish in it or the bottom of the roll but the people in the vid would have soaked it and ruined/masked the flavour of it which is probably why they didn't get any.
I'm with +John Smith on this one. Sushi and sashimi have such delicate flavours; it's a complete waste to smother them in soy sauce.
You just need to find your equilibrium between soy sauce and wasabi to make it taste the best for you
