    wow I want to thank you for bringing up Aphantasia. i had no idea i had it until about a year ago. as an former professional dancer and instructor for over 30 years and not previously knowing about this, i guess i relied on my other senses to capture the imagination, feeling and emotion of the art. I looked into aphantasia further i've discovered so many other artist have it. When i do my rituals i try to get my mind to feel it because i can't see it, and i've discovered the result is the same and just as powerful. thank you again for bring it up!!!

    I'm so glad he includes people with aphantasia. I've felt like it's my biggest road block is the fact that I do not visualize

    I added this to my wishlist just a couple days ago. I haven't read Psychic Witch, I'm kind of on the fence about it simply because a lot of the stuff he seems to cover I have access to in several other books (Condensed Chaos, Hands On Chaos Magick, the Golden Dawn self initiation course by the Ciceros etc.) This one got me excited reading the table of contents and the fact there are spells that need no visualization just brought it up to the top of my wish list

      Psychic witch is worth a read, although you might know most of it from ither books.
      As the important thing is often how the things are discribed and not what.
      I tead loads of esotetic stuff. This one turned to be one of my favourites to recomnend anybody.

    i genuinely thought I had aphantasia for a long time and it turns out I do not. I think practice with intent is a factor in visualization

    oh as SOON as i heard that aphantasia bit i was SOLD! it's not i don't have a "mind's eye", but i feel my ability to visualize and hold that visualization is diminished, making spellwork difficult at points. i can't wait to see his workarounds!

    Hi, dear Fish! I haven't had the opportunity to read Matt Auryn's books yet, but I'm even more curious now, after your review of his second book. The inclusiveness aspect also catches my attention, especially about everything you said about people who have aphantasia. For all I know, it is almost inevitable to resort to at least some degree of visualization (even a low one), so I suppose Auryn seems to have achieved quite a deed there! PAX!

    • @FoolishFishBooks

      Yes! quite unusual and definitely impressive!

    I'd personally be a little reluctant with this book. I don't really care for magick with new agey influence, which some of the items in the table of contents sounded very, very new agey. Like, to me you don't need a "spell to open the third eye." But that's just my approach to magick. I did see a section dedicated to the Hermetic principles so I'm hoping it still has some traditional influence.

    • @FoolishFishBooks
      @FoolishFishBooks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that if you are already happily established in a tradition this is really going to be a "pick out a few nice tips" kind of thing, not a wholesale embrace :)

  • @francineh.7825

    Thanks for including the content pages. I would like to order this book but have to ask a question first. I had ordered another magic book in the past and it had a section on sacrifices, as an animal lover and a green witch I was absolutely horrified to read this and immediately returned the book. Please tell me there is nothing like that in this book?!

    I like his work but its so hard to take it seriously when the forward has been written by someone who has taken it upon themselves to rename themselves 'Silver Ravenwolf'. For goodness sake. Its never beige Otter, off white froglet, transluscent worm or spotted ameoba is it? Its always some godawful throttling of new age tropes people use to lend themselves a mystic that no one is really fooled by. You see this a lot in the new agey community and, sorry, but I think its laughable and here dimishes an otherwise excellent edition. I can just cant take that forward seriously.

      Or, for another example, a Foolish Fish?
      For many Millennials, including myself, Silver Ravenwolf was the gateway into witchcraft and paganism in the modern world.
