I plan to go back and try the other restaurants in the hotel and found the staff really helpful during the afternoon tea. Just relaxing with a newspaper while having the afternoon tea and not feeling rushed at all.
Thank you for the video. The wood panelling looked beautiful in the background. Made it look cosy. The desserts were small but so pretty. I still say the Ritz London is the best ❤.
I did really like the building and the history. When I’m next there I plan to check out The Spy Bar and a The Guard’s Bar & Lounge in the hotel. The French restaurant in the hotel called Café Lapérouse looks really nice too. I do prefer the relaxed atmosphere in The Raffles Hotel than the busy high volume cover atmosphere in the Ritz London. I never felt rushed or like cattle in The Raffles Hotel but I did at the Ritz. Both the food and atmosphere around me are so important especially when I go alone to afternoon teas. However the Ritz Paris had a very chic and lovely relaxed vibe and I would go back again. I’ve got quite a few afternoon teas yet to upload so it’s going to be a busy 2024 for afternoon teas 😋
Thank you for this video, Jos! Adding this tea to my list for when I visit in a few months. They do an excellent job with the filling to bread ratio on the sandwiches!
Thanks. I really liked the different bread types they provided for each sandwich as quite often afternoon teas are just white or brown bread only. I was very well looked after and such a calm elegant atmosphere. Eating scones while reading the daily newspapers in the drawing room was very cosy. I really could of bought a box of those toffee macarons though 🤔
What a gorgeous retreat your video was. I felt like your editing just keeps improving! I loved the menu and selection of dainty sweet and savoury items. It was a shame about the missing sweet treat and restrictions on the supplementary cake slices. I hope you had a great time . 😊✨👏
I had a lovely time and it had such a relaxed vibe. I will be checking out the other restaurants in the hotel later this year. Some of the bars look really nice too. 🤗
Hello Jos! Thank you for this new excursion. Talking about "eyes & bellies", I could not resist the spectacle of those wonderful sandwiches, I put the video on hold and made a beautiful, moist egg mayonnaise sandwich with fresh shallots, garlic and tomatoes😋😋. I have to say that for the first (and perhaps last) time I did not envy you! 😁😁Greetings from a very hot Buenos Aires city (36 degrees! 🥵)
Hi and hope it's cooled down a bit in Buenos Aires. I like the idea of egg mayo with shallots - I might try that 🤔 I do love truffle with egg though as it tastes great. I purchased some truffle mayo from Fortnum & Mason in my F&M unboxing video when I was at Goldsborough Hall and it's delicious. What are your favourite sandwich fillings when you have an afternoon tea?
@@josatkin Hello Jos! Thank you four good wishes regarding the weather, in theory, today should be the last day of this horrible heatwave that lasted a whole week with an average maximum of 36 degrees 🥵 About my favourite fillings for sandwiches, they would be either egg mayonnaise or tomatoes with blue cheese cream. I have to say I never have sandwiches with my tea or coffee (I prefer the latter) because I have a very sweet tooth and luckily, here in Argentina we have a great variety of pastries and cakes, mainly of Italian and French origin. Thank you very much for your kind words. Wishing you all the best, Claudio.
Hi Jos. Wondering if vintage tea room or any tea rooms like Hathaway is your thing. Just subscribed and would love to see allllllll the afternoon tea places (both cheap and high end ones). Thank you so much!
Yes vintage tea rooms are also on my list and have booked a few for this year. I like to try both the high end and also the more affordable options. Thanks for the support. Have a lovely week!
Have to say all these people complaining about how the size of the sweets don’t seem to appreciate that afternoon tea is not a meal in itself, more like an elaborate snack between meals. It’s the quality not quantity and it would appear that was the case here. Considering the locality in such an amazing hotel I don’t think the price was too much. Since afternoon has become high on the tourist agenda prices have risen substantially which is unfortunate but a reality.
Thanks for watching! The quality of the food I thought was great and the level of service I received was excellent. I liked the relaxed vibe too as there was no sense of rushing that can sometimes be the case in other luxury venues. I plan to go back again and try the other restaurants in the hotel such as Cafe Laperouse.and check out their other food options. The bars in the hotel looked lovely too but I didn't have time to get a chance to check out all the areas when I was there.
Wondering how the hotel is supporting 9 bars/ restaurants. It doesn't seem that big. Most hotels struggle to get their restaurants to break even. It's not even in a location where you would have a lot of evening/ night time foot traffic.
Yes the items were very small but well put together. I thought the service from all the staff was excellent too. Very relaxed and the only place I've been given a paper and told to relax into an afternoon tea. I was made to feel very welcome which isn't always the case with going to afternoon teas.
I will be going to Café Lapérouse for lunch but that will be in a few months. I'm keen to try the different restaurants at OWO and I like the look of the lunch menu options at Café Lapérouse. I'd also like to check out the Spy bar as I didn't have enough time when I was last at OWO. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel! Have a lovely week! 🤗
Yes the desserts were tiny but really delicious and I didn’t receive one of them which is a shame. I will definitely go back for dinner or lunch in a few months as they have 9 restaurants and 3 bars so lots of options. The attentiveness of the staff was spot on and relaxing reading the newspapers over an afternoon tea was lovely. As soon as I walked in the door to when I left the staff were excellent. Especially in a recently opened hotel you never know how smooth it will go. If they sold boxes of the toffee macarons I would have bought some too ☺️ Thanks for watching! 🤗
I do agree with Sinead, I found the desserts ridiculously small which is almost insulting considering the price you are paying. Compared with other afternoon teas you have shown us and others I have seen this one is very inferior. 👎
@@arslongavitabrevis5136 The desserts did look very lonely on the large plates 😊 I would say I wouldn't go back for afternoon tea for the value compared to to other afternoon teas I've had, but I would go back for lunch or dinner as the food was really nice and with excellent service who were very attentive.
Web: 'In the United Kingdom, a tombola is a form of raffle in which prizes are pre-assigned to winning tickets. Typically numbered raffle tickets are used, with prizes allocated to all those ending in a particular digit.' They had those ar fairs when I was a kid, usually you stuck a hand into a hole in a hollow revolving drum with prizes in & kept what you landed on. Reminded me of that... always fun.

Thanks for sharing Jos an amazing afternoon tea. A beautiful setting. Take care.

Hi Jos, looks lovely! Thank you for sharing your videos, it really helps for planning trips and making the most out of our time in the UK. Cheers! 😊
Thanks, it's nice to know my videos can help with ideas and planning for trips. 😃

seems like for the price they would have let one try all 3 cake slices
Very true, I would of liked to try all 3 but they didn't allow me which is a shame. The chocolate cake was lovely, light and moist.

Such pretty desserts!
Very pretty desserts! I'm looking forward to going back in a few months and trying out the lunch and dinner menus. 🤗
Pretty desserts!... but they are bite sizes.... kind of ...small.....I may say. What do you say?
The desserts were really tiny but delicious. It would’ve been nice if they were bigger especially for the price.

Thanks for this but won’t bother going now as the sweet desserts seems like a big let down . Only 4 sweet treats 😮
lol you can never have too many sweet treats 😋
I was a bit shocked at how empty your plate came out with the cakes all looked nice though

They are there to feed you, not fatten you.
Is there a Tombola menu..
Hi, thanks for watching! I’m not sure what you mean in terms of a Tombola menu? 🤔
