To be honest, the symptoms are fairly similar for a bad diverter. Low flow or no flow even intermittent flow can mean a bad diverter. Better to start simple and assume it’s the sprayer and if not move on to the diverter.
I was excited to find this video, I have already discovered from watching other videos that it is the diverter but you have the same sink as mine and thought you would show how to fix it, thanks for nothing
Great video! My problem is that the spray will not turn off. It works sporadically. Sometimes I have to tap the handle to get it to turn off. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you.
How is the plunger under the spray nozzle button? It might need to be replaced if it won’t shut off. If it’s not that, it could be the diverter is getting stuck open
What do you do if the diverter is stuck on open?? Mine won't shut off, it's been an on and off problem for a while. But we try not to use the sprayer because it leaks a little down below when we use it.
You could try taking the sprayer apart. There might be some gunk built up under the button causing it to get stuck. I've also had it where if I tighten the aerator too tight onto the sprayer, the button won't work well. Maybe try loosening a little but not too much that it leaks?
Definitely looking to do one soon. In the meantime, you can check out other videos to get a general idea of the process and even google your faucet's manual to see if you can see a diagram. Usually its as simple as: turn off water, remove the faucet handle, remove the nut that holds on the cartridge, replace, and put it all back together.
It means the valve is stuck open. I’ve had the issue if the aerator was too tight thus keeping the handle depressed. Try loosening it a bit or check the handle assembly for something stuck open or broken.
If neither works, you could remove the water lines from the faucet to ensure both lines are clog free and have them empty into a bucket. If the lines are good, the internals are clogged on the faucet. You can rebuild it or replace it.
Going to try this when I get home, but my sprayer is plastic and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna accidentally Hulk-Smash the sprayer, the sink and probably a couple of windows. Will report back with the chaos and/or success.
Whats sick a big plumbing co. Was called to my neighbors house because of this and the plumber they sent told him he needed a new faucet. He told me this as I arrived home. whats weird was a plumber was following me to my place for something he needed for his property. I told him we went over, and checked his faucet. But the big plumbing co. Charger him $900 Which he had to pay half down. And couldnt back out. Every time i see that plumbing co. Advertise i wonder how many elders the take advantage of.. he was in his ninetys .
That stuff makes me sick. I know people need to make money but some people take advantage, especially of folks who already don't have the money to spend. I hope my videos can help as many people can save themselves from potential scams and expensive bills. Cheers!
Thanks for your comment. I’d beg to differ as it can be the aerator, especially if you live in area with hard water. Always start with the easiest thing which is the aerator. I will be doing another video on the a diverter replacement but many times cleaning the aerator is the first thing to do.
@@learnsavediy how many apartments do you manage one can see by just looking at the front of the sprayer 6 times out of ten it's the diverter These type videos are very valuable to new homeowner but most are a waste of time I'm amazed at the bad advice of some..not yours and I will say for the most part your one the best and thanks
Thanks for this video. It saved me some money
Glad it worked for you 😊
I was hoping you'd show how to diagnose problems with the diverter too

Same- why name two issues if you can only fix one? This is the worst video
@@nitenerdOne out of 2 is not bad. It's the simpler possibility. 😊

I was impressed that you put the aerator back on with one hand! Certified plumber territory, lol!
Haha thanks! Lots of practice with this issue before as you can tell. Cheers
Im stuck with sprayer on. I'll try this thanks!
Likely the plunger under the handle is stuck (or the diverter is bad). If the plunger works and is lubricated, you may want to change the diverter
@@learnsavediy thanks! It was the plunger we wd40'ed it and all good thanks!
Occasionally my sprayer would stick in the on position. I took it apart and cleaned it up with white vinegar. Works like new now !
Good job.😊
Unfortunately I needed the other fix. 😮
Maybe this other video I did might help you?

You are very welcome! Thanks for watching 😀

Hi, i have the same sprayer as yours , it works fine however the part where u hold to spray water , gets stuck every time, any tip for that?

I need a vid on how to fix diverter because nothing is coming out

My aerator doesn't screw off like that.... Rip! I'll try dunking the whole front in vinegar
Should help clear it up!
you may not see this but it looks like mine is all one piece and not sure how to get it off?
Is it a Moen brand?
Terrific! Thanks
Glad it was helpful. Cheers
Instead of using the metal teeth of the wrench, use the tips of the handles (no scratches at all)! 😉
Great tip. Thanks for sharing, Logan. Cheers
Nice! Good tip
Thank you!!!😊
You’re welcome!
What if your hose can't twist off and it is flush to the edge.
You can dunk the whole hose in vinegar.
My sprayer doesn't have a removable aerator.
If you can't remove the aerator, you can just pull up on the hose and dunk the nozzle in vinegar
What about if it’s stuck on spray???
It means the valve is stuck open. I’ve had the issue if the aerator was too tight thus keeping the handle depressed. Try loosening it a bit or check the handle assembly for something stuck open or broken.
Sprayer gradually quit its function. Now neither the faucet nor the sprayer is working...si, what to do?
If neither works, you could remove the water lines from the faucet to ensure both lines are clog free and have them empty into a bucket. If the lines are good, the internals are clogged on the faucet. You can rebuild it or replace it.

Let us know! You can also dunk the sprayer in vinegar if you don’t want to take it apart. That might work.
