Cartmans biggest issue is that his goals are shortsighted and often immature, but the way he achieves them, shows the highly intelligent, manipulative sociopath that he is. There is no way he would ever become homeless, hes way too resourceful. Nice reaction Dash :)
I know, they put him in the most impossible situations, and somehow he always overcomes. Scott Tenorman must Die was one. But he also gets beat. Like when Wendy beat the snot out of him for making fun of breast cancer.
I agree about his intelligence and resourcefulness, but I think the incredible motivation behind a lot of things he does is out of sheer spite against Stan and Kyle. That's a major dynamic of their relationship. Once he lost that motivation, and his mother presumably passed, there was very little to hold him together.
The second Civil War, and he managed to win, was best.
@@hush-615 Really, it's just Kyle that Cartman likes to spite. He hardly ever does anything to Stan or Kenny directly, except the Console Wars and a few other times. But even in the Console Wars and most of the other times Stan has been involved, Kyle was too. Stan is usually just collateral damage when he's impacted by something Cartman did to spite Kyle.

This is a great episode. I recommend the episodes "kenny dies, ladder to heaven, and the biggest douche in the universe" in that order specifically, they're great episodes and it'll give important context to certain scenes in episodes you've reacted to already

Just gonna back up this comment - most South Park episodes stand pretty much solo, but yeah, these help understand some changes to the status quo.
Ike is a genius. It was revealed in the fourth season, and is visible in many later episodes. He reads John Steinbeck and composes sheet music.
I always find it hilarious when Cartman is right about something. Especially when it’s something ridiculous.
Like that time he robbed Kyle for his gold, not only getting it right that he had a bag of gold around his neck but also that he had a fake bag to protect the real bag!
Speaking of Kyle, Cartman keeps being right about him too! Kyle was very proud about setting up Cartman and a bunch of other kids to die, he encouraged Cartman to get hurt jumping off the roof, Kyle immediately dropped his morals and helped with the cr@k baby fights once he found out how much money they made, etc.!
What’s even funnier is that the "After Covid" special made Cartman a happy, wholesome, jewish family man after growing up without his friend's influence.
Cartman is the embodiment of "throw me to the wolves and I will return leading a pack"
Dude, I remember I had just got home from deployment when this episode aired, just a couple of weeks before.
I was actually deployed to Somalia doing counter piracy, so this episode holds a special place in my heart.

Have since found out you've reacted to some of those mentioned, so you could replace them with Lice Capades, The Snuke, Pandemic 1&2 and The Ungroundable (another good Butters episode!)
I watched the three amigos dozens of times as a kid! And idk, the pirates singing in the bar definitely could have been inspired by the bar scene in that movie-Matt and Trey love to sneak in obscure references so it’s definitely possible.
I attribute that movie to teaching me the meaning of the word “plethora” 😂
These episodes bring so much nostalgia every Wednesday when a new episode would drop we would meet at a cousin house to catch the episode it was cool if someone had directTV because then you could catch it 3 hours early due to east coast time.

We don't. It's up there, but it averages out well below tolerable.
Eric Cartman said jews can't be pirates but here's a fun fact, there was actually a famous Jewish pirate during the pirate era of the Caribbean called Moses Cohen Henriques.
I think this one was around the time they started using Trey's daughter for Ike's voice, but I could be wrong. I never quite figured out why Cartman said no Jews but was ok with Ike. Always loved that slap Ike gave Clyde though :-) And I never clocked that he was dressed like captain Jack Sparrow!
And yes, of course, in classic South Park style, they tried to show the balance of the reality to Cartman's fantasy... before going completely non-PC with "Don't hit the white ones"... reminded me of operation "Human Shield" from the South Park movie Bigger, Longer and Uncut :-)

To me, Cartman's pirate song sounds more similar to "The Merry Old Land of Oz": "With a 'Ha ha ha' and a 'Ho ho ho' and a couple of 'Tra la la's', that's how we do our day away in the merry old land of Oz."
Thank goodness! I was just thinking of you 20 min ago and was wishing you had uploaded something because I needed something funny to help pass the time. And I had to settle for someone else’s South Park reaction video and he talked through almost the whole thing! And the audio wasn’t as good on the SP episode. It was set with a low volume so you could hear the guy talk over the show.

What if there was an episode where Eric Cartman saw an article online about Anton Bakov going to Kiribati to reestablish the Russian Empire and he became a drag queen as he decided to dress up as the animated character Anastasia, have his friends dress up as characters from Anastasia, including Dimitri, Vladimir, Pooka, Bartok and members Anastasia's family and uses his mother's credit card to book a trip to Kiribati via Expedia, flying from Denver to Honolulu, then Honolulu to Tarawa, with everyone dressed up as characters from the animated Anastasia film, and they end up meeting Anton Bakov?
Clyde cried after Cartman sung his song about the 3rd grade in the episode "4th Grade", I think that was the first time
I honestly mean it when I say these aren't south park reactions, these are more like a south park companion book, or a in depth documentary. The amount of work that you go through to show all the references and sources elevate the show so much. Some of us are big fans and we didn't know some of this. For example, I always thought the Japanese was just faked, and I should've known better! To go find the original clip, show them in between. I feel like the creators would be so happy watching this because you put on display the intense amount of research they did for each episode!

It’s such a nitpick but I feel like Kyle isn’t dumb enough to go “no you should totally do that” and think cartman will buy it 😂 I think I could’ve lived with that if he didn’t say “I’ll even help pay for your plane ticket” like cmon Kyle lmao he’s known him too well for too long to think Cartman is just gonna go “wow cool thanks” and that’s the end of it 💀 Wow I’ve seen this episode a million times but never that deleted scene, neat stuff. Honestly since you asked which one I liked better, I MUCH preferred that one. I guess maybe it wasn’t gonna REPLACE the scene it was an extra scene after it since cartman was suspicious and still needed convincing, but imo they should’ve either cut the lunch scene down and kept that one in the library, or just taken the dialogue from the deleted scene and used it at the lunch table. Either way I feel like that slick reverse psychology fits his character more then the scene they actually used, but I assume they used the first one bc it has cartman initially telling them the plan, so they couldn’t cut out that part and they’d have to set up them going to the library and shit, I assume it was just cut for time

The speech at the end is so interesting with Cartmans help they would have been millionaires. He was changing their lives for the better well until they got shot. Cartman could have had his own pirate tv show. Never know how it could have turned out. Cartman is on point with his business sense and opportunity awareness.
