Your embouchure videos had a huge impact on my sound. I changed to "goldfish embouchure" and I'm getting a lot closer to my sound ideal. Also the lower lip does no longer hurt.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm 76 yr. old coming from the clarinet side. Always biting, teeth marks through the mouthpiece patch. Now I'm using this easy to understand technique and it is helping me in so many good ways. Thanks again!
I've been looking for a channel like yours for a long time! Today I started following your advice and I can see improvement immediately 🤩 no more lower lip pain 😫
I can highly recommend the Inner Circle. Whilst I can't say I've been a hugely active member due to time constraints , there is a wealth of content to access and some great folks too. One day I'll finally record an entry for the monthly challenge!
I have seen the Video you are speaking of and have done the exercises. Question is, how to incorporate the same idea with the Neck is connected to the Sax ?
Nice! I do still need to be persuaded that the sound change here is caused by anything other than reed pressure. so like, how does this compare to a clarinet-like embouchure with a lowered jaw to remove reed pressure/bite?
Never heard about that but funny video 😂. What about the tune? Is it only valuable with a double lip embouchure or you really don't use any cushion with any lip?
So quick question. When I play with a loose or no embochure my high end notes sound like garbage and my intonation is terrible! I'm always tinkering with my embochure and feel like I need more resistance to get a pure, centered tone that I just can't seem to get from this. Is this a universal approach or geared more towards developing players?
Is your bottom lip in contact at all with your teeth? After learning a classical embouchure and then transitioning to a more lip out embouchure, I still have a slight, minimal amount of lip in between my bottomw teeth and the mouthpiece. With this method is that correct or should there be no bottom lip/teeth contact?
I'm in the same position. Less so on tenor middle to bottom notes, but for alto at the top, I notice part of my lower lip creep in between my teeth and the mp, even if I stick my lip out. I wonder how long it would take to get rid of this altogether.
I'll tell you what I learned about embouchure last night: that it's really hard to maintain that circle when someone pulls out a large rubber fish and uses it to pretend they're playing sax.
Great lesson but Jamie please, please, please don't ever stop goofing around. I was killing myself laughing with the look on your face while doing the Incredible Rotating Embouchre. Thank you!

Mind. Blown! I wish I knew this when I was in school!
Me too!
I thought you were going to play Popeye the Sailor Man when you had it in the side of your mouth 😆
Ha!

Thanks very much, beginner here so all useful advice to get it right from the start
You're welcome
Really helpful, thanks Jamie 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Funnily enough, that is exactly what Jody Espina said this weekend :) A bit of a revelation, instant positive difference in sound.
Awesome!
the old Rico vids with Jerry Bergonzi and george garzone were gold!
I’ll have to try and find them. I love the old Lieb materials as well. He really turned my head around.
Thank you very much. I am your loyal fan. I learn a lot from your great videos
I appreciate that!🙏🏻
Thanks, I needed that.
Glad I could help
Thanks for sharing, what a difference it makes...
You're welcome. That's the idea!

It’s just the same thing pretty much.
Nice! I do still need to be persuaded that the sound change here is caused by anything other than reed pressure. so like, how does this compare to a clarinet-like embouchure with a lowered jaw to remove reed pressure/bite?
Complex question. Ask me in the inner circle membership and I’ll hook you up!
Do you have any advice on playing a tenor and a bari at the same time like Dana Colley in the band Morphine?
Never done it!
Never heard about that but funny video 😂. What about the tune? Is it only valuable with a double lip embouchure or you really don't use any cushion with any lip?
Can’t work out the question, sorry!
Is this the same thing as a Lip Out Embouchure ?
Yeah pretty much.

Excellent question. But a big question. Too big for this comment. Join my inner circle membership and I’ll give you the full answer this deserves. ☺️

Yes, there is still bottom lip over my teeth.
See my other answer.
@@GetYourSaxTogether Ah okay thank you! Good to know I'm on the right track then
I tried it but noticed that I salivate a lot and it sounds really bad. Is there something I could do about it?
Impossible to answer over a comment. Join the inner circle for these answers!
Garzone talks about tonguing, also interesting subject! To cutting out students tongue!!!
Yeh I know!

Got it.
You call that a " normal " face ?
Just kidding, good stuff as usual. Thanks for the post
😁
Didn't Dave Liebman right an article or book on the "no embouchure" embouchure. I could be wrong.
Sounds about right.
Why didn’t you tell me this 3 years ago? It works!
😂 Great!
Today, 5 months later… (like in the movies…my new ‘me’ in saxo) … Thank you again : I arrived to a beautiful tone practising your this Tipp!
Great lesson but Jamie please, please, please don't ever stop goofing around. I was killing myself laughing with the look on your face while doing the Incredible Rotating Embouchre.
Thank you!
Ha!
Great stuff. The more youre playing just feels like talking the better imo.
For real!
Geat stuff. Do you feel the reed with your bottom teeth via bottom lip?
Bottom TEETH, no. You feel it on your bottom lip of course. 👍🏻
🐟🐟 Guppy Gob I call my chops 🐟🐟
I like that!
As long as it's sealed between the mouth and the mouthpiece.
👍
