The skill level for this is amazing but could someone please explain why the beams are not secured to the blocks (base). They just put the beams on the blocks and the weight of the structure just holds the beams in place? Maybe the securing of the beams to the base was not shown?
nice to see such care and skill of these workers. Well done boys !! I guess glazed roofing tiles are too expensive to use nowadays ...I sure loved the look of those glazed roofs when in Japan !
This is fascinating to watch. One question though….the vertical posts appear to be just sitting on top of the concrete blocks which in turn are just sitting on the concrete slab. Is there some form of fastening done that we didn’t see, or is it just the weight of the structure that holds it in place?
There must be some steps that we didn't get to see. There's no way they can only be relying on the weight of the structure to hold it down. The first tiny earthquake could knock the whole damn house right off it's foundation. Also we didn't see them install any kind of moisture barrier which unless they've very little water in Korea, would also be necessary.
Very impressive, but think about the people you don't see who made the forms and cut all the lumber to be assembled. They're the only reason it all went so smoothly.
True William but much of that can be cut and fabricated in a clean dry climate controlled factory using computer controlled machine tools. 🤷🏻🧙🏻♂️ Not on site in the elements. Though traditional this is a pre cut modular assembly ...probably sold as a modular house kit, Impressive. 🇬🇧🧙🏻♂️ Many traditional British houses and modern replica versions are Oak framed buildings, built by dry joints and wooden pegs or wedges to lock the joints in place. The limit is the supply of high grade rot resistant timber globally for the frames.. but that is where modern wood chemical engineering comes in converting soft woods into superior highly resistant timber. Like Inventwoods Metelwood and the simpler Dutch Accoya system . 👍🏻 All good as they are none toxic, renewable resource based and lock up CO2 for many decades or centuries 🤞🏻.
Amazing, though if it was my job site I'd be fired on day one for safety issues 😅. But maybe I missed some detail...is the entire structure just resting on the foundation, and the upright members resting on the plinths?
Menakutkan bikin kayak gitu di indonesia yg rawan gempa. Berat banget atapnya...papan, timbunan, terpal, baru genteng...mengerikan kalau gempa, langsung ambrull
The house 🏠 seems small yet the used of exclusive materials are huge. Indian system of building such wooden houses is very much different from Korean styles. Just wooden bars to lays CGI sheets and inside separate ceiling is to be done. Or else there is not so much installation of each layers on top of the roofs. Small but very expensive house. Westerner also are seen building the same way as Korean does. 🙏
The house is beautiful, a good job, except for one small thing. Already at the beginning there is something to notice, which can become big problems later. The studs were placed directly on the concrete foundations. A serious circumstance. Normally, beams belong there, otherwise the moisture will penetrate the studs unhindered. In about 5 years the studs will start to rot from the bottom.
To your remark about the studs. The video doesn’t show every part. For a couple of seconds you can see that they put a brick wall around the house, around 2 feet high? The inside floor isn’t finished either. If they build it like in Germany, the wood frame doesn’t get in contact with water. It’s the same in North America where the tiny 2x4 are used for the frames. You put them also right on top of the concrete foundation. In the end, they get covered with plastic foil, protected from water. Right? I have seen a lot constructions in different countries. Bricks, clay and concrete is for me the way to go. I didn’t like my house in Alberta Canada. 2x4 frame, drywall and plastic. And still expensive for a house made out of cheap materials. Only comparing the heating systems from my German house with the Canadian system. Sorry. Blowing hot air throughout the whole house is a waste of energy. On top, in Alberta have new houses a 24/7 fan running, blowing outside air through the house. That’s the new building code. By minus 30 degrees Celsius outside, the heating system is running nonstop! Now I’m in Panama. No heating needed. And cooling will be done with solar fans circulating fresh air for “free” when it is hot. No AC installed.

They definitely skipped some steps that are code requirements in the States. Not having it secured to the foundation being the most startling.

Love the joinery of the wooden beams. was this a "kit" in Korea? Or a pre engineered one time structure that you can order there?
Why aren't the main verticle beams anchored?
