    Even tho his music might seem melancholic or even sad, he just makes people happy. I mean, even if I am not in a good mood, listening to Elliott always puts a smile on my face.
    We miss you bro, hope you're doing well up there.

    I wish I was there. Hell, I discovered way after he died. It is sad that I won't get to see my favorite singer live ever.

      In 2002 some girl that wanted me to move to CA with her made me a cd-mix of songs pertaining to CA, most of the songs I was like eh, but it had LA on it and I was like 'wait a second, who the heck is THAT?'

    I love hearing his sets around this time..sadly seems around 2003 he was just not well..I hear he was sober but idk..he’s my favorite artist. I always say the Beatles are my favorite band of all time but if it comes down to 1 artist, Elliott is the most incredible songwriter I’ve ever heard..and his music is especially personal and honest..as well as beautifully complex emotionally and even musically..he was a genius on every musical level. Sad..feel like he’s a friend just by listening to his music.

      The sets throughout 2003 were actually as rough as they were because he was in recovery. His career had completely bottomed out as a result of hard drug use and on top of needing to get his health back together after that, he was performing sober for the first time in his career. In these shows where he's playing perfectly, he is a functioning level of fucked up.

      It was actually some time in 2000 that he really got into hard drugs, apparently.

    I was lucky enough to be at this concert. It has always stood out as one of my favorite shows and I remember saying to my friend: "I'm pretty sure every person in this room wants to have sex with him or at least give him a hug." The energy was intense in the room, and I remember seeing lots of people crying throughout the night, which was something I have rarely seen since (other than at a later Antony & The Johnsons concert.) Shows like this make me continuously seek out live music.

      I was there as well. This was the night Dave Foley from Kids in the Hall was there bc they had a show at the Tower the night before. I lived 4 blocks from here so this was my local bar. Amazing show.

    36:30 "Play some new moon" I thought it might've been "play something new" but I listened to it several times and it sounds like new moon. Im confused because new moon didnt come out until years after he died.

    • @JunkBondTrader
      @JunkBondTrader 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha it's gotta be "Play something new". I can hear the "th" sound, and also the way she phrases the statement doesn't seem to fit for "play some New Moon". I thought maybe you were onto something though, because Elliott recorded all the New Moon material between 95-98ish. I thought maybe they used New Moon as a working title for Figure 8 or something. But yeah she definitely says play something new.
