    Fab. Might have to make one for next year's Whitby goth weekend.
    Had to watch this in silent mode (captions) and keep my expressions of merth to a minimum. As other half is asleep.
    Thank you for the vid.
    Hmm what do I keep in my bag... Left arm of wheelchair has the useful bag which is big enough to get my tablet, earphones and notepad. Plus if I'm not wearing my denim jacket with proper pockets phone, wallet and keys. Right arm of wheelchair has my craft bag. Well the bag that's meant for knitters to carry around with 1 arm strap (perfect for the wheelchair) this has my water bottle/coffee mug, power pack charger thingy and cable, gloves, bandana, those essential supplies that a women may need if body is having a hissi fit. And if I have the room possibly some crochet or embroidery.
    The bag on the back just holds the shopping bags, rain poncho and walking stick.

    It looks so fab! As well as phone, wallet, keys, & a folded-up carry bag, I always carry small puzzles (like tiny mazes with ball bearings) in case my phone goes flat & my anxiety needs some occupation. For a longer trip, small craft projects (knitting, origami etc.) or art materials are essential

    Purse minimum size has grown just slightly for me in the digital age. Used to be I could get by with a quite petite reticule, only big enough for my keys and ID folder. Now, it has to be just a little larger for the phone.
    While I generally just put things in my pockets (if it ain't got pockets, I don't buy it, for at least a decade now), there are times when I know I'm going to be away from my house (or car) for most of the day. The day pack/purse has to have space for phone accessories (chargers and screen cloth), my wallet, extra masks, a multi-tool, a lighter (leftover from being a smoker decades ago, but still useful), feminine hygiene products, the emergency regular hygiene pack (hair ties, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, lip balm, eye drops, nail clippers and file), emergency sewing kit, and a small first aid kit.
    My current bag also has a pocket for a mini umbrella and a paperback or two for when I can't get a signal for the phone.
    Yes, I was a Girl Scout, what of it?
    This gives be ideas for a casket-inspired bag as well.

    • @MaireColclough
      @MaireColclough  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plastic would be a good option. It's just sourcing the stuff. Maybe that awful plastic they pack electronics in for sale at the local Best Buy (that you can only ever access with an exacto knife, a pair of utility scissors, and the risk of losing a finger to a jagged section of the plastic)...

  • @rosesanderson4625
    @rosesanderson4625 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Notebook, coloring book, pencil box, book, ball of yarn and crochet hook, knitting, or tatting project. Having stuff with me makes me feel less anxious so I tend to carry a lot if I'm going on an adventure. Less if it's just a quick errand.

    As far as oddities in my bag... Most that would be a doll(s) - These days my one day a week actuly workign in the office is the man reason I leave the house and the one thing I carried over from the pre-pandemic times of having to go into the office five days a week is taking a different doll(s) (or bear, or stuffie, or whatever) in to keep me company at my desk each day.... though I often take a small sewing or knitting project with me too - gotta have something to keep my hands occupied during the commute, right?
    As the dolls vary in size from n inch or two tall trhoguh to two feet or more tall, a backpack is my preferred bag style.... though a doll-sized coffin strikes me as very appropriate.

    • @MaireColclough

    • @teddy-3765
      @teddy-3765 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MaireColclough I do have one already actually - I had a little 5 inch tall paper-white-skinned doll with black hair and dressed in black lace. One day I came home to find her, in her usual place on the shelf in the living room, but sat in an open coffin. My husband had been to a craft market and noticed the coffin on a stall sellng dolls-house accessories, and simply HAD to bring it home for my little goth girl. The doll has since been dyed blue, given red hair, and turned into a NacMacFeegle from the DiscWorld books, but her coffin is now used as a coffee table in the middle of the little room box my tiny teddybears hang out in.

    • @teddy-3765
      @teddy-3765 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And, of course, my Lizzie Borden doll came in a coffin shaped box (as all the Living Dead series of dolls did). She used to stand on my bedside table, until the night I was woken by her little blood-stained axe landing on my head and looked up to find her leaning out of her coffin to peer down at me.... Now she's in the spare bedroom to unnerve guests.

    I watched this whole video while eyeing some purse-making supplies recently given to me by a friend. Your purse is very cute, and I love the idea of a coffin-shaped pincushion!
    My most-used purse is a bat-shaped backpack! I got it off Amazon and, sadly, it is faux leather. It's lasted a good few years and is still in good shape, and when it starts to go downhill, I'd like to make a copy in leather. Failing that, because I might, I know of a few local leather artisans who'd be up to the task and take custom orders. (SFW and NSFW orders.)
    As for the stuff usually found in it: wallet, phone, keys, masks, hand sanitizer, reusable shopping bags, lip balms, scissors, measuring tape, tea, bobby pins, tissues, butt wipes (there is so much awful toilet paper out there,) ibuprofen, diphenhydramine, sun block, and sunglasses. Sometimes a sweater, sometimes a craft project. Sometimes snacks.
