The big voiced Taddei and a big spinto Tucker are terrific here. Forza was a great opera for Tucker. I think his voice and dynamic expression were perfect for the role.
Giuseppe Taddei remains the greatest Amonasro, based on 1951 Aida performance at Palacio de Bellas Artes. With him Maria Callas, Mario del Monaco and Oralia Dominguez under Oliviero De Fabritiis.
@@ilecier Yes, I agree, long before this performance, in the 1950's Tucker and Warren owned the role at the old Met. Two major record companies both RCA and Columbia EMI records used Richard Tucker to record the complete opera, in 1954 with Columbia LP records, and with Soprano Callas and then in 1964, Tucker with Soprano Price on RCA LP's. Tucker sang in Buenos Aires a lot in the 1960's, and the year before this one, he did a fine version also in B.A. but not with Taddei.

Ciao.
Ciao ..!!??
Tucker was awful, but at least Taddei could learn to emote better.
Both are doing a fine job here.
