Some other things that could sound strange or might not be caught by non italian people (in my opinion). "Here you'll get spots redder than Milva" Milva was an italian singer and actress who was known for her fire red hairs. "Where those sly men who build up companies, no they don't care about the costs" It has happened more than once that buildings were not built according to the laws requirements or there is no regular maintenance. Companies declare that they do it so that they could steal money from taxes or from states funds. This is not only a Puglia problem, accident like these happens all over italy. In 2002 an earthquake hit the south-center of italy; a school who was recently renewed (of course not in the right way) fell down and 27 childrens and a teacher died. In 2018 in Genova a bridge fell down and 43 people died (there are still investigating the issue but apparently it was due to lack of mantainance). In 2021 a cable car fell down and 14 people died. Apparently some times prior to the accident they noticed some problems with the brakes, so they decided to disable them instead to repair them. If the breaks had worked, no incident would have happened. I can go on and on, but i believe that these examples are enough to show how messed up things are. "And who doesn't slog buys the stuff to get wasted until they fill up the tomb" It's not uncommon to work impossible hours (that most of the times are not paid since they're not declared to the state and yes, it's illegal, but employers don't care) and to keep up employees resort to drugs; and it's so hard to find a stable/well paid job that people prefer this choice, even knowing that it will hurt them in the long run. "The corners of the streets have more swords than King Arthur" In Italian (or maybe it's just something that is used in the south, i'm not sure) the word "spade" (swords) it's a slang for the syringes used for drugs since their shape remembers the cross of a templar sword. Nothing else comes to my mind right now, but if you have more questions, ask freely. I'm from Puglia and this song is one of my favorites even if it hurts so bad 😞
\m/ Grazie mille, bud. Seriously, thank you. You saying what ILVA, Pimpa, and ENI is in your description really, REALLY helped me make so much more sense of this song. You are awesome.
