Together MISA (bass) and Akane (drums) are one of the best rhythm sections currently playing and Kanami is an excellent guitarist....but an even better music composer and arranger and as an all round musician she is up there with the best.
Yeah... Onset is crazy good! But they have some other instrumentals in their repertoire, i don´t know any band right now who is playing instrumentals at the moment and that´s really sad, because i love instrumentals! SAIKI has a great voice, but instrumentals are rare and Kanami is writing great instrumentals! Without holding back is another gem... This is a live only track that gives the singer a break - there is a studio version but don't think it's on an album. It was released as an "extra" on a DVD set - somebody can probably point you to an unofficial source for that.
You need to hear Giovanni off the new album. There are a number of instrumental only versions of a number of the songs on TH-cam if you go looking for them. They're pretty amazing without the vocals. However, don't misconstrue this to mean I prefer them without the vocals.
Miku (Rhythm guitar, Flappy Pigeon , main lyricist, Founder) has only been playing guitar for 6 or 7 years. Her sensei is Kanami (Lead guitar). She is endorsed by Zemaitis Japan and has their very first signature guitar called the "Flappy Pigeon." Kaizen, Po! Band Maid has several instrumental videos (less Saiki singing) attached only to their Blu Ray releases. They sound like a totally different song without vocals, in most cases. I think the guitar vs. bass video, Don't You Tell Me, is not on their channel unfortunately and it's only live. There are a few fancams with ok sound you can find of it. If you want cool slow bass, try out their new live song About Us. It's a slow song however and dedicated/written to fans they haven't been able to see due to covid. There's some videos of instrument versions of songs out there. Without Holding Back has some great slap bass. But again if you want a great bass song and punk, Dice is the MV.

I do not know if their instrumental video "Not Holding Back" is available for TH-cam. However, there is a wonderful fun version of Kanami and Miku "auditioning" for Band Maid the amazing Herman Li, from Dragon Force. Unfortunately Misa and Akane are missing from this video. It is tons of fun. Kanami and Miku are very kawaii. The song is very true to it's title, no-one is holding back. It was released almost a month ago and has almost 300 thousand views.

I respectfully disagree. Yes, she is picking whenever we hear a note... BUT I'm pretty sure she is using a delay in that part an interesting and subtle way: 1) I believe she is picking most notes twice, and at a rate twice {or four times?) as fast as her delay interval (i.e. picking sixteenth notes with an eighth or quarter note delay) which is really cool. Normally when you pick that fast with a delay things get muddy pretty quick, but Kanami and Akane have the timing locked in; 2) the effect loop is dialed down and/or mixed with her clean channel; and 3) the "decay" is relatively short--only one or two echoes. In any case, it is awesome. She's basically doubling and harmonizing with herself live to create this amazing atmospheric, spinning vibe. To me Kanami is such a tasteful guitarist, arranger and tone monster that she would never use an effect as a crutch--but she isn't afraid to use them, either. Onset an amazing song.
How about those dumb transitions into those elevations between the breaks? Akane baby! I don't know how to play any instruments personally or if what I even said up there makes any sense lol, you two clearly grasp this shit to an extent im simply not capable of, at least at this moment on my path right 👍. I do know that Onset is basically my favorite song from Band Maid, if not tied with Manners. Oh and i can't even play my own instrument since after She-hulk episode 7 I ended up permanent erectile dysfunction.

I understand the love of their live performances, but "I can't live without you" just stands out to me as the best riff-driven song I've heard in decades. No need to review it, there's no video, just go have a listen!
As others have mentioned, 'No Holding Back' is probably even better ... but if you want to see a real bass/guitar battle you will need to go searching for 'Don't You Tell Me' live version ... it's no longer on TH-cam that I know of, but if you look on Facebook you will probably find it there ... look for the pro-shot version as I think there are a few fan-cam versions as well, but the pro-shot version has the best sound mix and better camera work obviously.
This woman are absolutely talented artist. What amazes me is no style of music that scares them. Pop rock, hard rock, metal, etc ... Besides, listening to their album all saw the extent of their talent. Example the song Rinne is really more metal in style, while Moratorium live is incredible. Full and complete song without any vocals. It is excellent! Usually instrumentals get me bored, 'cause they are often only presentations of technical skills, and the song is kind missing. But as we know, luckily it's not the case with Band-Maid.

Was going to suggest the MORATORIUM Live recording, but it's no longer up on their site. You'd probably like DICE. It has some awesome bass work, and is one that is worth listening to on the music video. All the live performances of it have bad mixes, and the guitar work is usually lost.
Also known as Saiki's pee break! Their first international performance was in Seattle at an Asian Festival. Per an interview the audience of 3000 was the biggest they had performed for. Their fan base is mainly in the US and Europe, but they are now getting great recognition in Japan. Miku has designed a guitar for Zemaitis she has named the Flappy Pigeon. Together MISA (bass) and Akane (drums) are one of the best rhythm sections currently playing and Kanami is an excellent guitarist....but an even better music composer and arranger and as an all round musician she is up there with the best.
Yeah... Onset is crazy good! But they have some other instrumentals in their repertoire, i don´t know any band right now who is playing instrumentals at the moment and that´s really sad, because i love instrumentals! SAIKI has a great voice, but instrumentals are rare and Kanami is writing great instrumentals! Without holding back is another gem... This is a live only track that gives the singer a break - there is a studio version but don't think it's on an album. It was released as an "extra" on a DVD set - somebody can probably point you to an unofficial source for that.
You need to hear Giovanni off the new album. There are a number of instrumental only versions of a number of the songs on TH-cam if you go looking for them. They're pretty amazing without the vocals. However, don't misconstrue this to mean I prefer them without the vocals.
Miku (Rhythm guitar, Flappy Pigeon , main lyricist, Founder) has only been playing guitar for 6 or 7 years. Her sensei is Kanami (Lead guitar). She is endorsed by Zemaitis Japan and has their very first signature guitar called the "Flappy Pigeon." Kaizen, Po! Band Maid has several instrumental videos (less Saiki singing) attached only to their Blu Ray releases. They sound like a totally different song without vocals, in most cases. I think the guitar vs. bass video, Don't You Tell Me, is not on their channel unfortunately and it's only live. There are a few fancams with ok sound you can find of it. If you want cool slow bass, try out their new live song About Us. It's a slow song however and dedicated/written to fans they haven't been able to see due to covid. There's some videos of instrument versions of songs out there. Without Holding Back has some great slap bass. But again if you want a great bass song and punk, Dice is the MV.
I'm pretty sure there's an MV for for Don't you tell me. Unless you're talking about a live vid then yeah unfortunately not.

I do not know if their instrumental video "Not Holding Back" is available for TH-cam. However, there is a wonderful fun version of Kanami and Miku "auditioning" for Band Maid the amazing Herman Li, from Dragon Force. Unfortunately Misa and Akane are missing from this video. It is tons of fun. Kanami and Miku are very kawaii. The song is very true to it's title, no-one is holding back. It was released almost a month ago and has almost 300 thousand views.

FYI, Kanami doesn't use a delay pedal for that part you mentioned. She's just picking the notes.
I respectfully disagree. Yes, she is picking whenever we hear a note... BUT I'm pretty sure she is using a delay in that part an interesting and subtle way:
1) I believe she is picking most notes twice, and at a rate twice {or four times?) as fast as her delay interval (i.e. picking sixteenth notes with an eighth or quarter note delay) which is really cool. Normally when you pick that fast with a delay things get muddy pretty quick, but Kanami and Akane have the timing locked in;
2) the effect loop is dialed down and/or mixed with her clean channel; and
3) the "decay" is relatively short--only one or two echoes.
In any case, it is awesome. She's basically doubling and harmonizing with herself live to create this amazing atmospheric, spinning vibe. To me Kanami is such a tasteful guitarist, arranger and tone monster that she would never use an effect as a crutch--but she isn't afraid to use them, either. Onset an amazing song.

As others have mentioned, 'No Holding Back' is probably even better ... but if you want to see a real bass/guitar battle you will need to go searching for 'Don't You Tell Me' live version ... it's no longer on TH-cam that I know of, but if you look on Facebook you will probably find it there ... look for the pro-shot version as I think there are a few fan-cam versions as well, but the pro-shot version has the best sound mix and better camera work obviously.

This woman are absolutely talented artist. What amazes me is no style of music that scares them. Pop rock, hard rock, metal, etc ... Besides, listening to their album all saw the extent of their talent. Example the song Rinne is really more metal in style, while Moratorium live is incredible. I suggest you keep making videos on band maid. If I can make any suggestions ..: Manner, Rinne, Moratorium, Dice, Dragon fly, Don't you tell me (with duel Misa and Kanami).

Yeah, you're slowly wining me over lol and if you want a longer Bass solo check out No God from their new Album: Unseen World. There is a good version of it on YT if you search under Band Maid Topic but Spotify is best place to check it out. It's one of my top 5 from the Album. Also if you love Cowbell, I recommend Chemical Reaction from Unseen World as well. Keep it up Guys!!!
Clang is the song that has a tapping battle in the intro. The tapping battle is fan-cam only, but I edited a video that includes the tapping battle intro and then goes in to the Zepp Tokyo 2018 performance. Was going to suggest the MORATORIUM Live recording, but it's no longer up on their site. You'd probably like DICE. It has some awesome bass work, and is one that is worth listening to on the music video. All the live performances of it have bad mixes, and the guitar work is usually lost.

Also known as Saiki's pee break! Their first international performance was in Seattle at an Asian Festival. Per an interview the audience of 3000 was the biggest they had performed for. Their fan base is mainly in the US and Europe, but they are now getting great recognition in Japan. Miku has designed a guitar for Zemaitis she has named the Flappy Pigeon. Limited edition in Japan only, for now. Foreigners are already trying to order one. The guitar she is using in the Herman Li audition video is her Zemaitis Flappy Pigeon!
