This. Is. So. TRUE!!!! I love Fall and Winter! The colors. The textures. The layering. The boots. The coats. And then comes Summer and worse yet humidity for months. Or the other issue hot outside and cold indoors. Thank you for bringing clarity to my mind and presenting me with options for how I view my closet and the seasons! Grateful for the insight! And adore you in the pink cardigan!

So so true! I love fall and winter, warm cozy clothes. Summer comes along and while I don’t dread getting dressed, I do not like my clothes. I wear them because they’re a necessity for the hot weather but now I am looking forward to summer and figuring out a summer style that I will feel comfortable and myself in. 😊

I live in Sicily and thoroughly enjoy the change of seasons. I do get bored in summer, because in the heat and humidity for 5 months I rotate a few linen T-shirts and linen shorts. Not even cotton or silk will do. It is now spring and I wear linen shirts with a jumper or jacket on top. And either jeans or shorts depending on the temperatures. Still in trainers because it is not sandal weather

This is so true for me, too. I love winter clothing and it is easy to get dressed in the fall & winter. I dread spring and summer because I do not wear shorts anymore and live in hot humid Texas. And I have not curated my summer wardrobe to match the way I want to dress. I see so many chic women in linen in summer. I bought several pieces and then very seldom did I reach for them because of the wrinkles. I’ll keep looking for my “summer style”. Thank you!

Wow its like your talking directly to me about summer dressing. This year is the first in a very long time -I am 56- that I feel I have a reasonable summer wardrobe and don't dread it so much. Pre-loved has been a safe place to experiment with more natural fibres and finding 'summer colour' which suits me -am a ginger- thank you so much for this content ... I never even thought it was a thing for others.

Great information, and I love your style. I know you mentioned that you thrifted the pink cardigan, but does it have a label in it? I would love to find something similar, thank you....

I wish I could give you more info on this pink lady cardigan. There are no tags inside. No info about the brand or store. My guess is that it's from Amazon, but I couldn't find it when I searched. So sorry! 💕

Thank you for some really insightful thoughts and helpful hints; we came back to dressing authentically via a different path😀 Recently I bought a pair of white jeans. I felt far outside my comfort zone the first time I wore them because I rarely wear all white items. However, I had bought a style and brand I wear all the time and styled them with a favourite black cashmere roll neck and black trainers (very cold in UK at the moment). I soon felt very happy in my outfit because the only thing that was different was the colour. I have a couple of black, red and green blouses and shirts (my go to colours) I am itching to wear with the jeans if the weather ever warms up.

I love this! What a great example of changing one thing (color of denim) and keeping the brand and style the same... then making it authentic by wearing it with current favorites! Bravo!!

I know what it is about hot weather dressing; it's my body; bigger arms, heavy legs. I live in Texas where the humidity is awful.
My solution is cotton midi skirts and flowy rayon dresses with sleeves. I'm going to explore finding caftans at my favorite thrift stores.
I love the sunshine. I prefer Spring and Fall dressing because of layers.
That lady jacket is so gorgeous!!

Summer is my easy time. Winter is harder due to all the layers.

I don’t like to dress for winter because I find that generally the clothes in stores for this season are all dull and muted colors and shapeless and bulky, at least where I live. Beige, tan, gray, black, neutral tones. And I have seasonal depression so this doesn’t help me at all. Especially since I stopped coloring my hair and let it go gray, I look sick and washed out in those colors. I also have eczema and those heavy fabrics combined with the electrical heating are murder for my skin. When I was working our office was so cold I had to wear several heavy layers to not freeze.
Now that I am retired I wear colorful t-shirts with cardigans and I feel way better. I bought a couple of bright colored cardigans (fushia, bright blue, purple) which are not easy to find, and I feel a lot better about my winter wardrobe. I have yet to rid my wardrobe of a lot of gray and beige sweaters that I will not wear anymore.
I love summer because I wear dresses and sandals all the time. It’s easy, freeing and my skin can breathe.

I am 70 and retired to Sicily, where the locals wear puffer jackets and other clothes in black - I want to ask where the funeral is! I have all white hair, and instead of colouring it I put colour in my outfits. Pink, purple, red, turquoise etc. I have a bright orange leather jacket. And a leather biker in GOLD. Go girl! Shine like a bird of paradise among the sparrows

Yes I agree, so hard to find color in winter.

I agree that the offerings for winter are pretty awful and have a very somber, depressing feel. Also, I don't want to look like the Michelin Man.
I have never been able to find a winter coat I truly love. I'm 62 years old, and I mean I have never found one I love. It seems like garment makers follow the blueprint, so to speak, for automobiles: they offer the same five drab colors, boring silhouettes, nothing exciting or imaginative or whimsical at all. I've seen the coats that eastern European women wear and they are beautiful and colorful and have lovely details and a flattering silhouette. They can't be found in the states and I just wonder why not.
I have no idea how to solve this dilemma.
