    Well the Rolex has the better movement for sure, but in reality the 4R movement is fine and solid (spent another 50€ for a regulation). But if you really have to decide between this and a Datejust, so you are willing to spend 10,000$, do the following: Buy 20 Seikos and give one to every friend and family member. This will give you much more joy, then a single Rolex can ever do.

    Seiko is always humble with their accuracy. Even with their seiko 5's. Most of them could pass cosc certification easily. They just don't put it out there that they have accurate movements. They even downplay the accuracy of their spring drives. I have no idea why they do this. It's a Japanese thing I guess.

    • @JustWatchreviews
      @JustWatchreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They offer great value for the money, one of the many reasons they are so popular!

    • @darraghtate440
      @darraghtate440 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They do it so that if a dodgy one makes it off the production line and is doing +20 seconds a day, it's still within parameters and they don't have to service it at personal cost.

    I have both the Sary057 and Sarb035. The Sary gets much more wrist time. Had the Sarb first, was planning on a 033 to match, but got this instead. Very glad I did👍

    Yes, the black bay is also an all time favourite, especially the red bezel. Most people will suggest their new in house movement, but have a look at the ETA. They have regulated it to perfection on my Ranger and future service will be a big saving.

    • @JustWatchreviews
      @JustWatchreviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, on the Black Bay, I'm leaning more towards their in house movement, as I feel it will hold value better over time. Do you agree?

    This watch is more like the Seiko SARZ005 and not like the Turtle. Also 21,600 beats per hour and not per minute. It is a 3Hz watch. Nice watch nonetheless. Also the caseback glass is Hardlex and not Sapphire.

    Right.You can't compare the two. The big problem with seiko is the branding. Tell me what are they doing exclusive quality watches or big consumer watches. By the way I am a huge Seiko fan but when I wear it I have in mind the accepted tolerrance rates

      Saturday in blue & Sunday in red

    • @ET-cj8jo
      @ET-cj8jo ปีที่แล้ว

      I have one bought in Japan in 2017. Saturday is the same colour as mon-fri, ie white letters on black. Sunday is red letters on black, just about unreadable, but if you can see red then you know it is Sunday. Personally I find the days of the week unnecessary, but the date is helpful.

    • @HGX1
      @HGX1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Sarb is of better quality, in the case finishing, the bracelet, and movement.

    • @HGX1
      @HGX1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve C the Sary has a flat profile on the side which is very easy to do, the sarbs is curved and multi faceted. The clasp is better as you mentioned and the movement is better, to a lot that's important.

    I recently bought the Seiko recraft SRPC11K1. I wished the bracelet was longer. At the max size and it is still tight most of the time ( 9 3/4 in wrist ). But the accuracy is fantastic. Just checked against the atomic clock, I was 7 seconds fast from when I set it 5 1/2 days ago.

    The reason for the contour of the lugs on the SARY is that it's for the Japan Domestic Market, so it's a big watch designed to fit slender wrists. My own wrists are very slender for a White guy, so some of these larger Seikos fit me just great.

      When you hold a Rolex side by side with this or one of their SARB's, you will feel, see, and even hear the difference, and trust me it's significant. Sure, this is a fraction of the cost, but once you have held that extreme level of refinement, it's tough to go back to these much cheaper options. Now, the Grand Seiko - that is an entirely different story though.

    Hi there Justwatch . I (warning I may go on a bit here , will try and keep this short as possible). My Daughter and myself have been searching through a few watch vids and watch sites doing some research on this in the last few weeks.
    To get to the point . This Seiko is ALMOST what we are looking for . We both love Seikos and , for me personally I love the look of this and everything about it , (except maybe it's a little bit on the small side for me).
    What we are REALLY looking for though is MANUAL WINDING!. We don't want automatic.
    SO - my question is , do you know of a Seiko , just like this in overall apperance , specification , etc , BUT MANUAL WIND?
    Do Seiko even make manual wind watches at all now? Maybe a Japanese domestic model?
    I could say / ask a whole lot more but will leave it at that for now. Would love to hear from you if you can answer this / point us in the right direction . Thanks . Very interesting vid by the way and beautiful watch . (If I was a billionaire and money was unlimited , I would still prefer this to a Rolex or anything else). :-)

    • @JustWatchreviews
      @JustWatchreviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jerry Barbender hi Jerry, sorry for the delay in response, I’ve been giving your question quite a bit of thought and can’t think of a watch that meets the criteria you described. Most current production mechanical watches are high end - expensive. Or, real low end but not much in the middle. Out of curiosity, why not an automatic?

    • @jerrybarbender9987
      @jerrybarbender9987 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for getting back Just Watch .
      Yes , this is what we (my Daughter and myself) , have pretty much discovered while we have been researching these watches and looking at manual winding watches. As you say , they are either VERY cheap - too cheap , or very expensive high end.
      There are a few nice watches we have looked at that come quite close to what we want , (Orients for example , and also we have looked at some Cavadini "Aquilas" - these are very nice , large enough for me personally and they use a tried and tested 6497 movement . However we can't find out anything anywhere about Cavadini?)
      But I digress. Going back to what I was saying . (To answer your question as well , my Daughter LOVES winding a watch herself . That "involvement" with it every day , putting , as she puts it , her own "energy" into it.) So , we both share that . Nothing quite like manual winding .
      She has quite a nice small collection of watches. Her favorites are two manual wind Seikos that she bought from a Seiko dealer some years ago. They were old then , unused new but old stock. They are "domestic Japanese" (She is from Tokyo). They are very similar in appearance to this SARY057 , (black face , similar size / shape and overall look) , but no date. It simply says Seiko , and below 17 Jewels , on the dial.
      One of them she wears most of the time , her everyday watch , the other she has kept pristine . (She has other watches too , I got her a Swiss Army manual wind (Victorinox) military watch from UK that she uses at work).
      She has been looking for another new watch recently though and , we have both got kind of involved in looking into them and have been surprised how hard it is now to find a manual winding watch.
      I apologise for going on at length. Just briefly going back to myself and watches for me. I am VERY big and need a large watch . I need at least 40 / 42mm . Anything smaller just looks too small on me. I am actually very much into LED watches . But that's another story.
      I am also curious to know what you know of / think about Cavadini? As I said , we can't find any information on them anywhere much .

    • @JustWatchreviews
      @JustWatchreviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Two main differences, movement, the SARY is day/date and uses the 4R series movement, the SARB is date only and uses the 6R series movement. The SARB is also smaller by 3mm and has luminous on the hands and index markers.

    Nice! Too bad they spoiled the milk and overly, and senselessly subdivided the minute markers in the way they've done to the SARBS, and the rest of the 6R15 movements lines. I mean now there are little if any Seiko's that they haven't ruined between the Seiko "5" and the GS lines.

    2) Polished hands. They glare. Most of the time you need to turn the watch around to see the time. Now take that boring white dial watches with a white dial.
    No, its not better than a Rolex neither technically nor prestige-wise. It has and it will always be second best after Omega.

    • @HGX1
      @HGX1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeffrey KRUPA too small is subjective, it's a more classic size like most rolexs, day display can really ruin the aesthetic of a watch, I have 3 watches with this function and they all look inferior to the ones I have with just date, 4R36 is definitely fine, so is the 7S26 which is the base movement. 6R15 is superior in every way, as it has a longer power reserve (my Alpinist is 58 hrs) and much more accurate (my Alpinist is +/- 1s/day. My 4r36 are all about +10-13. The Sary is definitely a really good watch but the sarb is superior, especially in case design and finishing.

    Minus 35 secs and plus 45 secs per day. Far out man ...Caliber for a junior league. How could you compare to a Rolex? Don't you think it is better to associate with a Timex or a Casio? Even a 3000 $USD Grand Seiko can not match a Rolex. My Sea-Dweller 4000 ref. #116600 is plus 13 secs a month (28 days) ! Less than 0.5 second a day...

      Just Watch if you're going to compare it to a DateJust you had better show comparison video and not a vanilla review. The fact that you're only about to make a video comparing it to a SARB035 implies that the SARB series is already better than the entry level Rolexes which is absurd.
      This makes Seiko fans look like idiots.
      Look, your vanilla review isn't bad, you should keep it up. Your poor choice of clickbait makes it trash and reflects badly on you.

      Right.You can't compare the two. The big problem with seiko is the branding. Tell me what are they doing exclusive quality watches or big consumer watches. By the way I am a huge Seiko fan but when I wear it I have in mind the accepted tolerrance rates

    • @12801270able
      @12801270able 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Seiko SARB line's comparable in quality to vintage Rolex watches; Grand Seiko's arguably better than contemporary Rolex; Seiko's Credor line, on the other hand, blows them out of the ballpark.

    • @aleximd9244
      @aleximd9244 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Phillip Mai just calm down the game. How many Seiko do you have. How do you feel when the daily rate exceeds 30 seconds. S...T. THE other. Remember grand Seiko's working on 36 k. I called it unfair comparison. Compare the service frequency for a 36 k movement to a 3135 and you'll see the difference. Try to find a Seiko boutique !!!!!
