Rich Americans often married their daughters off to royalty and paid a huge dowry just a title. Winston Churchill's mother was an American actress who was married to his father, who died of syphilis.
This is the same as the story of Diana, Princess of Wales whose family was desperate for a Royal connection - except that King Charles was hardly an insignificant prince. Diana became VERY promiscuous after her marriage but Grace was merely continuing her Hollywood affairs.

I have an autograph from Grace Kelly when she was on the movie set for High Noon. They were doing a scene near the mining town known as Jamestown which was not too far from Columbia. My mother, me, and my sister and brother went out there to watch them. I will never forget it. We got autographs and they fed us lunch from their lunch wagon. It was great. That was in 1951 or 52. I think the movie came out in 1952.

I believe her husband the prince also physically abused her. It's a pattern with these types of men. They like complete control and subservience and have horrible tempers. The mental and emotional abuse almost always turns into physical abuse. If he had 3 mistresses only months after his marriage, then he was capable of anything. There was something in her eyes that shows she was frightened of him. If he threatened to take her children from her if she pursued a divorce, then he was capable of anything. I wish women would stop sacrificing themselves for fairytales. They only exist in movie theaters, not in real life.

That bit I always found hard to believe.... and Stephanie always seemed to act up afterwards (guilt maybe??) And why was Grace 'broke' when she died, surely if shes Reniers wife and the royal, she would be kept by him, as she completes her royal duties and is no longer able to work and earn an income as an actress any longer!???
