Hopefully I'll get noticed this time: in Q3 you need to burn as much fuel as possible early on in the session, and then have a crack at the closing minutes. That is what real-life F1 drivers do back when this was the qualifying format.
+insomniacidiot isn't he playing on easy? This game is really difficult, if he was playing on the hardest level he wouldn't pass Q1, what actually happened with Toro Rosso in 2006.
It's honestly quite refreshing to see a non-code masters F1 game, they all seem to slightly blur together at one point. So bringing back this older game is pretty entertaining. Especially how they decided to tackle the game in a different way from code masters, such as actually having the player control the pit crew
On the warm up lap, you can get the tires up to 90. And that makes a good difference on the race, specially on the start. Just slow down as much as you can as the cars open a gap from you, then you accelerate as much as you can, steering as much as you can, and when you reach the corner you hammer the breaks, steering as much as you can. Do it for the entire warm up lap and you'll get the tires in a good temperature. It always worked for me.
To be honest your engineer is quite right to tell you again and again to warm up your tires because when you arrive at your grid slot they are pretty damn cold. When I was playing that game back in the day I think I had my tires up at like around 70/80...especially the rear tires. And if you do that you will still have at least some temperature left for the start
Playing with a pad is a pain in the arse at times but I've managed to learn to find the exact points I need to stick it on the Codies games. Because like you I was flicking the stick (lol) too much at tracks like Silverstone, Melbourne and Hockenheim but by using it as precise as a wheel I've been knocking a second off my times. Takes a while to get it nailed but the results are fantastic
IMPORTANT ADVICE you have to brake really hard during the formation lap and when braking hard turn the wheels right and left in order to warm the tyres. By doing this you will have worn tyres and incredible start to race. And dont make too much gap between you and back so your tyres wont be cold when race start.
Two things: 1 - to know what cars had retired, look the colors on the pit: red means a ferrari, blue and yellow means renault, red and white honda, blue and white williams, etc 2 - the 'lag' on the times is because of: when you pass a 'sector line', the game 'gets your time' (I don't know how to say this), and the difference between you and the other cars remain on screen for 10.4 sec, so, if you get passed or overtake another driver close after the 'sector line', it'll take time to update the positions
Andreas Müller I havent played game for a while and it really questions me how do I get to change tyres in variable conditions Do they automatically give me wet or dry tyres after weather is changing or what ?
yes, it is tricky in this game, you have to wait 2 or 3 laps afte the weather changes, then they give you automatically the right tyres, if you go to early, they will give you the wrong tyres
It's so nice to see an old F1 game being this good. Kinda sad Ben you never saw f1 2006 season when it came. Hard to believe that you have missed all those classic times. But 2010 was a good season to start.
Ben you can have your tires warm at the end of the formation lap You only had to drive slowly until the 200 last meters of the formation lap and then brake and throttle in the same time during those 200 last meters You'll have a 100C° on your tires :) (sorry for my bad english it's not my native langage)
Ben, good video, sorry for the accident with massa. I have a tip about heat tires, if you turn off the abs, if you have it enabled, and you do a strong brake, the tires were warmed up faster.
Ben, from your first spin, your engine cut when you ran out of fuel, and i've got a tip, if you land in the gravel, hold the brakes not the throttle. you'll stop faster and limit the damage
Hi Ben, try locking up your wheels in the parade lap by accelerating and braking hard at the same time. Will heat up tyres to 99 and won't wear the tyres!
my fav f1 game of all time was the 1999-2002 challenge and I hope you try that game Ben because the v12s were awesome. it also has Michael Schumacher not competing for a while when he had his accident. my first one though was on the N64. I think it was either 97 or 98.
That last-third high-speed section is old now, but it caught me up a lot. Heck, the new section screws me up, but not like that blind quick left you went off on.
The number on the bottom left next to the garage emblem is the number of laps of fuel you have left. In the beginning of the video you did run out and that can lock the rear wheels of your car.
The funny thing is that at the start of the season at least the Toro Rosso V10 massacred half the field on the straights because they were more powerful than the early V8s.
I wish they would do an F1 game where you can start your career in any year and the cars change year on year as they did in RL. Would be a lot of work and a one off but would be really fun I think to be able to drive all those cars and have a career in different eras.
Spa isn't in this game. During 2006 the bus stop was getting re-constructed into the modern bus stop as we know it today. Was such a shame as I played this game for so many years and was dying to race around Spa... Was biting at the bit when Codies finally released their game.
On this game, the orange and yellow flag will only ever mean someone has had an engine failure and there is an oil spill on the track. At least in my experience of the game.
God i fucking hope F1 2016 is like this, with the warm up lap and having to put your car on the grid etc, it was so much more realistic back even in 2006
You should make the difficulty harder because back in 2006, Toro Rosso was really a HRT/Marussia like so when you will be moving at a better team, it will be way to easy
+Tiametmarduk u should try to get to Reanault, McLaren, Ferrari or even Williams. If/when you do well they will promote you and test driving is bit fun too
can you try and show us any ai mistakes or crashes that happen with the replay system? makes for an interesting look into the ai driving styles and how it affects the championship
Aren't components like Power-Steering and the ECU in the nose of the car? I ask because when he spun in Q1 his Nose cone is showing damage, and perhaps it was a fault in one of those parts.
The B's and M's next to the drivers names are the Bridgestone or Michelin tires for whoever wanted to know
Cheers I was wounded what that ment
Thank you
They even classify and use different tyre brands back then?
ArsenalFan35 yep cuz back then its allowed to have 2 tire manufacturers
thanks mate
@1:26 A sudden loss of power whilst turning in a rear wheel drive car at high speed would totally cause a spin. The game was spot on.
Hopefully I'll get noticed this time: in Q3 you need to burn as much fuel as possible early on in the session, and then have a crack at the closing minutes. That is what real-life F1 drivers do back when this was the qualifying format.
yeah but then he gets the pole every race in a TORO ROSSO and that wouldn't be very exciting. Too bad he's playing on medium
+insomniacidiot isn't he playing on easy? This game is really difficult, if he was playing on the hardest level he wouldn't pass Q1, what actually happened with Toro Rosso in 2006.
+Lucas Mantovani think they scored one point all season
It's honestly quite refreshing to see a non-code masters F1 game, they all seem to slightly blur together at one point. So bringing back this older game is pretty entertaining. I use that setup too and that one is very good.
nice setup guide except for the automatic gears.
+Kelvin Anahaw you can have automatic gears and still use this setup. It still is a very fast setup. But yeah it is a bit slower.
Andreas Müller I havent played game for a while and it really questions me how do I get to change tyres in variable conditions
Do they automatically give me wet or dry tyres after weather is changing or what ?
yes, it is tricky in this game, you have to wait 2 or 3 laps afte the weather changes, then they give you automatically the right tyres, if you go to early, they will give you the wrong tyres
The commentating of benjamin is so hilarious sometimes. One of my favourite youtuberss.
Oh ya and my name is Benjamin too!
It's so nice to see an old F1 game being this good. Kinda sad Ben you never saw f1 2006 season when it came. Hard to believe that you have missed all those classic times. But 2010 was a good season to start.

Excellent pun for your channel description: Daly uploads :P
ben, hands down my favorite series you have ever done. this is the game i grew up on so its great to see you play it. keep the vids coming man.
Spoiler alert: Ben took out Rosberg heading into Parabolica, thus allowing Sergio Perez to win.
+mgraysonhay um you realise this in F1 CE right?
+101JuventusFan Do you realize I'm making a smart@$$ comment, right?
+mgraysonhay And a long-awaited win for the 16 year old.
You are really crushing this series to TH-cam
This is One of the Most enjoyable series you've ever done. Please to more than 1 season.
Ben, good video, sorry for the accident with massa. I have a tip about heat tires, if you turn off the abs, if you have it enabled, and you do a strong brake, the tires were warmed up faster.
Ben you are awesome. Keep this series going!
the engineer is telling you to warm up the tyres, because you never do it !! ;)
"Tyres are showing signs of wear." What on the last lap, never? You sure have a genius engineer there Ben
Ben uploads Daly ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
N I C E
Damn Ben!Back at it again with the 2006 career mode episodes!
Can you do me a favour and just open all the u opened emails haha My OCD is getting triggered xD Congrats on the success of this series so far mate :)
+ChesnoidGaming ;) mine as well
ches!!!!
+ChesnoidGaming ches what are you doing here :D
Su Lomebio Watching Ben's video? lmfao
+ChesnoidGaming ches play f1 2016 career
I started watching Ben when he had 100,000 subscribers, I hope you keep growing!
I absolutely love this series!
Great series, thanks for this. You earned new sub for 2006.
my fav f1 game of all time was the 1999-2002 challenge and I hope you try that game Ben because the v12s were awesome. it also has Michael Schumacher not competing for a while when he had his accident. my first one though was on the N64. I think it was either 97 or 98.

About finishing your qualifying lap time, sometimes it lets you, and sometimes it doesn't, as I know I had both these occur.
I see that subscriber count starting to grow again! Daily uploads sure aren't hurting
You finished a position higher than I predicted. Pretty good drive, for the most part.
The number on the bottom left next to the garage emblem is the number of laps of fuel you have left. In the beginning of the video you did run out and that can lock the rear wheels of your car.
noticing a trend: when you start talking extensively mid race/session there's nearly always a big mistake
Formation Lap: Throttle + Brake = Tires warming up #2006logic
Hitting the like button before watching! You're great! Cheers from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!
The funny thing is that at the start of the season at least the Toro Rosso V10 massacred half the field on the straights because they were more powerful than the early V8s.
If you want to warm your front tyres, you have to brake as you wanted to lock them. It will not dammage it
This is a great series Ben keep it up! :) because of you I'm gonna buy this game now :D
Wouldn't be surprised if the price is increased because of him. great program of episodes
Overcutting is important. Light fueling is a bad idea. It's important to run long early on and get track position.
Ben in the formation lap go for full throttle and brake to heat up your tires!
+Max Booster (Speedbooster27) he cant the game controls his speed a bit and also turning
+Da Heroic Sloth I believe that you can also heat the tyres on the formation lap by doing like sharp turns while accelerating.
+callum110597 To add to my previous comment, those turns being the ones that make your controller vibrate.
+callum110597 Not sure, however, if my advice is actually good.
Ben when the oil flag shows always drive of the racing line, this will prevent you thrown sliding on the oil
5:23 There is no spa in 2006.
Just so you know, Spa wasn't on the 2006 calendar so you don't have to worry about that
Love that Renault car, hope Ben and Alonso drive an epic season before 2016 come out
1:30 was a brake failure. Rear left locked up.
On this game, the orange and yellow flag will only ever mean someone has had an engine failure and there is an oil spill on the track. At least in my experience of the game.
There is no spa on this game Ben :(
+Meloni88 yee sadly
y?
+Fergal Johnson sponsor problems
+Fergal Johnson Spa was undergoing some major changes to the bus stop chicane in 2006.
+Fergal Johnson There was no Belgian GP in 2006.
5:24 I didn't understand exactly what you said but F1 06 doesn't have Spa on calendar
when the clock goes to 0;00 you are allowed to finish your flying lap your just not allowed to start another
I love this series. Good game on ps2
this and the dirt series
God i fucking hope F1 2016 is like this, with the warm up lap and having to put your car on the grid etc, it was so much more realistic back even in 2006
+@EFCMatthew I bet F1 2016 isn`t like F1 2006, 2016 won`t feel fast.
+@EFCMatthew well it put your car in the grid slot automatically, but yes this game is far better than the codies ones
Nice Monaco thumbnail..
sound of these cars is awesome
great series Ben keep it up !
Up the difficulty
+Ng Ignatius He would have to restart the career.
+Gamefan56 I'm pretty sure he can change it in the Options Menu. This not F1 2015
Ng Ignatius No in this game. If you change it you will have to restart the career. He even said it himself in a earlier video.
Ben this seasons amazing plz double upload more often
Please Ben, set the car up, for top speed a bit! It would be much easier for you.
I love how you get better and better every episode!
but in the thumbnail its monaco...
Amazing series love it so much :) Thank you
Well that Q1 was really close and awesome
Great series, but come on where's the DiRT Rally?!
Yeah. Don't forget it, Ben
i just realized that he was driving like Kvyat last career mode and now he moved to Toro Rosso. Ben the fortune teller?
the number to the right of the fuel icon is the amount of laps left of fuel
Ben, Spa wasn't in the 2006 Season because of the refurbishments (changing the chicane etc.)
There are many retirements because there were many retirements irl at that time! Mostly with Räikkönen though, lol.
Why did STR signed Ben as number 1 driver
+siesha iqbal How should I know? Probably because he got more points than his team mate, logical.
You need to get the tyers much warmer on the parade lap, closer to 90+. You will get better starts and have even better pace on first lap
+clarkey3262 they go cold by time everyone has lined up
+Speedy not as cold as they have been going so far
btw you always are surprised renault is upfront but renault was fast back then infact renault won drivers championship 2006 and 2005
Did You Know?
The 2006 Torro Rosso ran with an RPM-Limited V10 Engine, what a waste of power :)
+Poochihead You haven't read the comments section on previous videos lmao
He even said it in the video, please watch it
Ben when you said 'are you serious' it activated my Siri
You should make the difficulty harder because back in 2006, Toro Rosso was really a HRT/Marussia like so when you will be moving at a better team, it will be way to easy
The best driver won!!
#VamosAlonso
fuck the alelson
Go alonso
+Tiametmarduk u should try to get to Reanault, McLaren, Ferrari or even Williams. If/when you do well they will promote you and test driving is bit fun too
Man i buy'd the game thanks to you the best 3 euros ever .
the game is really fun one of the best
can you try and show us any ai mistakes or crashes that happen with the replay system? makes for an interesting look into the ai driving styles and how it affects the championship
I would love to see another season after you finish this one! :)
"After 7 rounds the engineer is still telling me how to warm up my tires" ye cuz you still dont know how to warm them up haha
Spoiler: Ben is finishing this series ASAP so he can start his f1 2016 carer mode when the game drops next week
Next week? You must be trolling xD
Keep them coming Ben
Your car ran out of fuel Ben..
Oh wait I'm one year late
Restricted V10? I thought V8's came out in 2006?
Hakeem Karim Torro Rosso is the last team who used V10 engine in 2006
Code masters take notes...this game is excellent
The best F1 youtuber Ben :)
Aren't components like Power-Steering and the ECU in the nose of the car?
I ask because when he spun in Q1 his Nose cone is showing damage, and perhaps it was a fault in one of those parts.
no the nose is an aerodynamic part which houses the front crash structure. I believe the ecu is in the steering wheel although I'm not 100% sure
awsomef2004 gotcha, thanks for the info.
+Brandon Dollar His fuel ran out and seized the engine
To me Silverstone is the hardest track in the sceduel
Does anyone know the use of the red pin on the tacho. I see that it holds the max revs for a while but why would you need that?
Just to remind the racer the optimal shift point that's all
Thank you. Just thank you!
Keep it on!
Wait did speed replace liuzzi? Red bull switching drivers again?
more,more,more!!!! best series ever
Best series ever!
1:26 I believe that was a brake failure. At least it seemed like one.
But look at the "car condition meter". The front changed to orange.
I think that in this game Spa is not avaible cause' 2006 was the year when the track was being reconstructed
Hes called Ben Daly for a reason
