Christian hardcore bands never get any credit in the straight world. Mainstream even slightly gets the scent of Christianity and they get put in a box and can never break out of it, unfortunately.
@@drockhines That's not true at all. For starters, this is not even remotely hardcore. There's also the fact that in the hardcore/metalcore scene, some of the most popular bands are christian (Zao, Norma Jean, etc).
I hear you bro. I still remember when I first discovered this video and that's the only way I've ever heard this song. I used to be heavy in the rapcore scene around 2001, this song felt so at home.
The lyrics of this song are profound and are truly relevant today. Look at society and what they're trying to push on the masses. "Good will become evil, and evil good". Andrew was spot on with this tune. Still one of the best from P86. Was a pleasure to meet him.
+bouncingsoul818 Ikr? If only they could get back together. Alex, The Hatchet, was amazing. He was one of the driving elements and gave Project 86 their unique sound.
I remember watching and listening to these guys in the mid 90's. This song came out in 95 or 96 I think. IMO, this was their best album, which was their first. The big jeans "Jenco" was hot at the time.
P86 have owned since I saw this video on MTV when MTV played music videos...I've loved them ever since, I own all their albums....I'm waiting for more...they inspired the way I play music....the ONLY band that admits to being christian that I like...because they have an Un-Biased message.
You sure weren’t, ReneidKlein. I have their ‘Drawing Black Lines’ album. Still love it and it really means a lot to me coz it was one of the 1st CD ROMS I ever owned.

Their self titled album is still some of the best music they’ve ever put out AND one of the best Christian heavy records of all time. I wish they would’ve made a video for “when darkness reigns” instead of pipe dream though.
Another thing too, I have talked to several who consider Drawing Black Lines to be the band's best album, even if the lead singer himself disagrees. Before an unfortunate contract bust, Drawing Black Lines was what got Atlantic Records interested in P86 to begin with.
I saw this on MTV2 in 1998 - they reminded me of rage against the machine meets Deftones and east coast hardcore, surprised to find their sound change down the line but all bands change - miss this lineup and the drummer Alex is awesome ❤️
Project86 is like a Christian version of Rage against the machine and KoRn. Christian nu-metal/Post hardcore (tho they're pretty much their own- P86core)

Linkin Park OPENED for Project 86?? Nice to have a Christian band be the main event!...Sure the 2 band's points of views might confuse the audience, but at least Project 86 is letting their light shine :D
Sam Shaw Truthless Heroes was pretty trippy and cool as fuck, everything after that felt kindda lame, but yeah, I'd say their first 3 albums were fucking awesome!
@peanutbuttercrunc100 Wish I could give ya more thumbs up. 100% agree with you! I remain their fan because of that album in hope one day they will regain the passion they once had then.
It annoys me when people will say things like "I am glad this band doesn't sound like that anymore" or "they were wannabes then." I assume they're scene kids who only stick to one form of music, and that is really sad.
Interesting how you call Project 86 Linkin Park wannabes based on this video because they released 2 full length albums before anyone even knew who the crap Linkin Park was. Same with people who used to call P.O.D. a rip off of Limp Bizkit. P.O.D. formed in 1992, Limp Bizkit weren't even around until at least 1996.
There was sooooooo much energy released on their first 2 albums, so intense. II love them, but I wish they had kept the in your face intensity of the first two releases throughout. I think there would have been far more album sells.
@Rawk4Life I agree, I hate it when people bash how a band used to sound. Tell them: "Hey, guess what? they wouldn't be the band they are today if they didn't play like they did back then." But at the same time I like it when bands change and refine their sound and style over the years. People would probably just move on if a band sounded exactly the same after 15 years. So I'm glad they don't sound like that anymore. Not because I don't like the sound, far from it.
Same with Skillet. Their sound has changed several times over the years, partially due to constant members changes. With Ben now out of the band, their next album will more than likely not be too much like Awake or Comatose.
@mroddydawg Can't agree. Truthless Heroes was a failed experiment of a "concept album", "And the rest will follow" was okay but not mindblowing, but the last two records have been great.
@Rawk4Life Ben has been with skillet since the release of "alien youth" (2000). So I highly doubt that the sound will change just because Ben is gone so I'm not sure that I understand your logic. Personally, I am hoping more for a "collide"-sound, but I really don't know what John has in mind for the next album
All of their songs sound different. In the album Drawing Black Lines, the majority of songs sound like this. Kinda reminds me of Deftones, except I actually like Project 86.
Still hits hard in 2024🤘 this was my intro to Project 86, saw it on G-Rock lol.

"i'm not willing to meet in the middle" but this is hands down one of the best P86 tracks

Still listening to this in 2018. Pure classic.
Taproot, Project 86, Pulse Ultra. That was an awesome tour.

Saw them live in 97. Very intense show. Like they wanted to get their message out seriously

Downhill downtrodden left a slave
New day on the verge to find the gray
Floors swing and slope downhill to bring
Middle grounds set on wavering
Two sides to flip and coax a brink
Laying on a face on the brink
Dealt an empty hand
Opposed to delete any bridge to stand
Polarized this side
Shades display this trade
Off to buy halfway
Games that bore my days
End of my phase today
I'm not willing to meet in the middle
End tragedy solve the riddle
And dissipate ideals of indecision pipe
Pipe dreams like these will
Cease and die unleashed
Like my past removed replaced and now
My phases die this time
Gray fades to late
Phases die this time
Gray fades to late
My phases die this time
Gray fades to late
Phases die this time
Gray fades to late
Unveiled my mask
What's right not balanced
You're tripped by intent to stretch
Searches coerce a mesh
But find no chance to clench against
Facts still remain unbalanced
If that equates to remaining stagnant
I'm no longer the same as the halfway days
No time delays
Cease and die unleashed
Like my past removed replaced and now
This face removed replaced and now
My phases die this time
Gray fades to late
Phases die this time
Gray fades to late
My phases die this time
Gray fades to late
Phases die this time
Gray fades to late
You wanted to know why I'm different
Why I refuse to open my mind
Cause that relative stance is inadequate
To fulfill what i need inside
Many souls on the brink of collapse
Inside the midst of these so-called nightmares
So willing to embrace those pipe dreams so lost
And neglecting their only real chance
So willing to hang in the balance
Your state is so desperate, so blank, so empty
And left with this notion that doesn't hold water or weight
It's dark or it's light so decide and face
Dark
So decide and face
Light
So decide and face
Dark
So decide and face
Light
So decide
This stuff would get me pumped..long live the resistance!!!
I saw P86 when they were touring promoting this album. Awesome album.
