  • Jagged Globe Expedition to Mera Peak in 2022. 24 days trekking and climbing to the highest trekking peak in the World, Mera Peak . The journey takes us from Kathamnadu to the gateway to the Himalayas, Lukla. We take the longer route, off the beaten track to end up at Khare where we can launch the summit bid. The climb takes us up onto the Mera La, we see the spectacular High Camp at 5800m and then the final push to the summit of Mera Peak at 6476m at dawn with panoramic views onto 5 8000m+ peaks.
We then cross the Zatra La pass to arrive back to Lukla and then enjoy a couple of days exploring Kathmandu.

it is just my opinion, of course, but I think its so beautiful. Mera Peak is a dream of mine, slowly changing into a goal by getting into mountaineering and long distances hikes. Thank you for feeding my dream 😊

Great video, and what fantastic weather you got for your summit! This just makes me consider this climb even more as my next adventure! Any recommendations with regard to company to use for the expedition?

Thanks for the kind comments Stefan. I used Jagged Globe and would definitely recommend them. I would avoid companies that go over the Zatra La pass straight from Lukla as this quite an aggressive acclimatisation Just also be mindful of the guide to client ratio as if someone else has issues on summit day you dont want that to derail your attempt. Hope this helps and good luck

    Hi Great video
Can I ask a question if possible , We are planning Mera peak in Oct 23 , Im told you can hire mountaineering boots ( double ) in Kare , would you recommend to hire or be best to pay the expense before go and buy
    Many thanks

HI Scott, you can hire kit in Khare but it might be a bit limited. Kathmandu will have much more availability if you are going down the hiring route. I chose to buy. I figured that I might go on more of these trips so the double boots would be an investment and if not then you can always sell them on and recoup some of the money. Good luck for Oct 23; its a great trip.

Awesome vid! I did EBC in 2018, looking to do Mera Peak May 2024. What was the toughest part for you and if you were to do this again what would you do differently?

    • @mountainarena7202

Thanks for the comments. I think the toughest part was the two days after the summit where we went back over the Zatra La. I think my mind had said that we were done but it was 2 quite big days to get back to Lukla. I wouldn't do too much differently other than take my big camera out on the summit as I dragged it up there and just used my phone!

Thanks for making such a beautiful video. I plan to go to Mera Peak April 2023.
Do you mind to share how to prepare for the bottom? I am ok for the top, liner, one mid layer jacket, 850 down and hardshell (Arc'Teryx Alpha SV). For the bottom, I am not sure.
I saw you use mitt as another protection. That's very good idea.

Thanks Sarawoot. On summit day I wore Merino wool leggings, and a pair of Rab Vapour Rise trousers (essentially winter hillwalking trousers) and on top I had Mountain Equipment Gore Tex salopettes really just to keep out the wind. If you are prone to feeling the cold then you may want to wear down trousers but I felt that this was overkil. Hope this helps and good luck.

@@mountainarena7202 Thank you very much. That's very detail explanation. I really appreciate. I agree for the down trousers will be overkill. The wool legging and a pair of winter trousers would be fine. Thanks again for your wish :)
