    I'm still confused. What operation does control-click-drag do to merge the mesh/vertices together if you're not using Dynamesh? Did you merge your visible subtools? Maybe I missed a step? Normally control-click-drag with Dynamesh will "mesh" the objects together in the same subtool. Does control-click merge work only for Multi-Mesh?

    Its called Mesh Fusion you need a polygroup surface then draw ontop of it the mesh with a hole, it will not work if you append an object and try to connect it,
    make sure when you CTRL+Drag your Dynamesh is off.

    • @s3ntry948
      @s3ntry948 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      how can i apply mesh fusion with the low poly objects then?

    • @Maher-
      @Maher- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@s3ntry948 you need that one surface with a different polygroup then draw your object on top of that surface.

    • @s3ntry948
      @s3ntry948 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Maher- Does it also work with older lowpoly mesh? I have 2 different lowpoly mesh and i want to combine them without retopologizing (or dynamesh) them and i want zbrush to basically destroy the intersected mesh. Dynamesh does destroy intersected mesh but it also adds more detail. I want it lowpoly. Is there any other way than this? Just asking.

    Hello, thanks for tutorial, but i didnt understand as well how did you weld it, did you make a double mask? im beginerr in ZB and its really difficult for me.. thanks by tutorial

    • @AleksMarkeljFoto
      @AleksMarkeljFoto  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have to use Insert Mesh Brush (that has a model with the open back side). Draw it on the polygroup that you wann merge it with. When you let go of the mouse button everything but the newly created part is gonna be automaticly masked. If you want to merge everything just Ctrl+click&drag TWICE on the canvas and you are done ( 4:45 ).

    very cool! thank you again. Always such a joy when you make a new tutorial.
    Idea for future tutorial: on the same topic of having one part of the model be high detail and the other extremely low detail it would be great if you made a video where you took a more complex dynamesh model and turned it into a under 1k poly model. Of course there's decimation, and the frustratingly long zsphere process I'm curious if you'd do this in some interesting way similar to how you worked here in parts. Like for example lets say the object was a pillar with flowery details, some parts would have to remain detailed to keep the pillar interesting but others would ideally end up a low poly cylinder. I'd be curious to see how you breakdown this problem.

      wow, that's fantastic news! Can't wait! Zbrush is a fantastic tool for high poly sculpting exploration, it would be great if more people used it/it grew in features/techniques also in the direction of ultra low poly game meshes (Zremesher behaves pretty unpredictable in my experience once you get under 1k). From what I saw from the summit presentations it felt like Pixologic might also go in this direction with 4R7 with low poly modelling.

    • @AleksMarkeljFoto
      @AleksMarkeljFoto  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Void lon iXaarii Indeed, Pixologic will do a groundbreaking new version of ZBrush. In my opinion, from what I saw, it will blow away 3DsMax & Maya in terms of creating low & high poly models. Can`t wait till it comes out. :)

    The click & drag holding control - 2 times doesn't seem to work in 4R7. no bridging polygons formed.

    • @AleksMarkeljFoto

      Glenn Schot It does work. Make sure your InserMeshBrush has the back side open, meaning the brush should not have complete (whole) model.

      Tried again with same neck and body and again with also with simple polymeshed sphere and cylinder - no go. Created insert mesh brush properly and sphere, both with 'holes', positioned, control/ click and drag twice... nothing.

      Make sure you have (at least) 2 polygroups on the model you want to attach something to. If the whole object is one polygroup it wont work.

      *****
      Success!!! - On the simple sphere and cylinder anyway (There must be something wrong with my head attaching to body project, the insert just sticks to the small polygroup and the main model disappears!) Great process if I can get it into my work flow - it doesn't leave a nasty spliting 'seam' like 'merging' and NO INTERIOR GEOMETRY, that little polygroup I pulled the insert mesh from just disappeared, COOL. Speaking of 'Interior Geometry', any way to delete it inside of models? It gets pretty messy inside with all the eyeballs and teeth merging subtools. The 3D printer guys complain. Your method is great, but it seems the long way around. THANKS BIG TIME! (Dynamesh would be okay but even high res.ruins my nice details.)

    Hey man, just wanted to say thank you for this.
    I'm not a pro, so probably I'm doing something wrong, but.
    I had a model with asymmetric tail, and wanted to Zremesh it. Apparently, you can't just hide a part and go with symmetry for some reason, because it messes up the hidden part anyway.
    So I decided to split a tail, closed the body hole and used your technique to glue tail back (after zremesher). Had to tune the mesh target, but i think its the best i could ever got with my limited knowledge:
    i.imgur.com/hNjXHxc.png
    You can see the pink one is the product of insert mesh auto-welding. Only 1 triangle and everything else is aligned!

  • @Rin8Kin

      ***** this will add more problems actually, as at the point you uncheck "freeze" the part you inserted will try to reconstruct higher levels and most likely end up with lots of spikes for some reason.

    when I pick sphere3d_1 and make the sphere, then click MakeMesh3d and then press Reconstruct Subdiv, it doesn't work. A friend of mine said you can't have any triangles in the object for Reconstruct to work. If that's true then how is it working for you? Do you have a different default setting? I"m using (4R7 p3)

    so I'm guessing I can't just merge the part I want to weld? it has to be an insert mesh brush? I tried just merging them into one subtool with my female anatomy model, with holes on the parts I wanted to merge to the body and polygroups for the spots I wanted them to attach to and it didn't work.

    • @AleksMarkeljFoto
      @AleksMarkeljFoto  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jobie Wan true. you can`t merge and expect the parts to be weldet. These are to different terms/techniques. You could merge two subtools and the Dynamesh them, that would weld them together, but you would end up with a lot higher polycount. So its really really about what you are trying to achieve.

      If they get annoyed they don't watch the video, if they don't watch the video they don't gain affinity with the author, if they don't gain affinity with the author they don't support his/her work, if they don't support the work the author doesn't get fed.

      Mask the area you want to create more polygons in and then invert that mask and Zremesh it.
      If your objects are separate there are other methods to join them without dynamesh such as the Zmodeler brush close holes etc.
      With that method I rarely use Dynamesh anymore.

      There is a couple of ways to create anything in ZBrush, which makes it perfect for everybody to use their own favorite method. I showed mine, you can use yours, no problem.

    You could have told right from the beginning that this tutorial needs your brush from patreon. It would be professional to let people know before they begin to watch it.

      The video shows how you can use ANY brush that has one side open (some are in the default ZBrush library). There is no need to purchase my brush to make this video usable. The point is in the TECHNIQUE how to use such brushes, without Dynamesh, to merge different subtools.
      Make sure to watch the WHOLE video before you post such comments.

    Cool tutorial, but I wanted to scream when you advertised your other videos, patreon, subscribe, like, etc. Holy crap, dude. Just get to the video, and if I want to subscribe, I will. Sadly, I had to vote this down because of that super annoying self promotion.

      Well advertisement is the only way to get people to check out other videos and maybe, just maybe, give something back by purchasing some payable tutorials. You know, this kind of videos take time to make, and if you feel annoyed by the few moments of my advertisement, then you can maybe feel my annoyence when i get comments like yours. Be HAPPY that there are people like me, doing FREE stuff for others.
      "Tnx" for the thumbs down.

      You dont NEED to buy it to LEARN the technique. I just offered purchase since i made those brushes and dont need them anymore.

    Very horribly explained. You explained poly groups more clearly than what you did to actually merge the pieces.

      Well excuse me for not living up to your standards. If you got the message of this tutorial, than the purpose was fulfilled. Go do your own free video tutorials and then see how well you`ll do.

    A bad tutorial, too long and not very explicit exactly when you present the bridging between the two meshes. And it doesn't merge subtools. Your method is not a substitute for using Dynamesh. Waste of time.

      Well if you would take this 6:22 and watch every second, you would see that the video length is necessary if you want to explain all the important parts. I am sure you just glanced over parts of the video, since after 4:40 is completely explicit when i did the merge. And it does merge the subtools, like it is shown in the video. The video was never about substituting Dynamesh, it was just another way how to merge 2 subtools with them retaining their own polygon count.
      So next time you wanna write something "smart", think about it HARD before you do it, since reading your comment was truly a waste of time.

      nothing "smart" in my comment, unlike your reply. simply stating that following your tutorial was a waste of time. kudos
