    She was awarded with Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi.

    Famous drama personality Saoli Mitra is no more. End of an era. Veteran theatre personality Saoli Mitra passed away. She took her last breath at her resident in South Kolkata 16 Jan 2022 afternoon.
    The late eminent playwright Shaoli Mitra. Today, at the age of 74, the veteran actress and director passed away. She received the Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 2003 and the Padma Shri in 2009. The Bangadarshan family pays tribute to her.
    Shaoli Mitra (alternative spelling Shaonli Mitra) was a Bengali theatre and film actress. She played Bangabala in Ritwik Ghatak’s Jukti Takko Aar Gappo. She was the daughter of Shambhu Mitra and Tripti Mitra, who were also celebrities in the drama world. In 2011, she chaired Rabindra Shardhoshato Janmabarsha Udjapon Samiti.
    Actor, director and playwright Saoli Mitra was the only daughter of legendary theatre artists Shambhu Mitra and Tripti Mitra. Born in Kolkata in the late 1940s, she completed her postgraduate studies in drama at Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata. Inspired by her multi-talented parents, she started acting at an early age. She is a child star in many Bohurupee productions. She also starred in the 1974 film Jukti Takko Ar Gappo written and directed by Ritwik Ghatak.
    Saoli Mitra ran her own troupe, Pancham Vaidic, known for works that reflect contemporary intellectual debate. Nathabati Anathabat and Katha Amritasaman were the most successful plays she has written and directed.
    She received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2003.
