I've been wondering for a year why Alice invited Diluc to the archipelago last year since he had no positive relation to Klee like the others, and here it is. He was really nice to Klee once, so Alice immediately went to get the adoption papers lol. Okay not really, but she did include him in their next family vacation
When a Witch capable of bending reality and world hopping/scrying adopts you, one does not simply deny such an event, or a person. Alice is renowned for her adventuring skills and magical prowess, so people have at least a small modicum of understanding that she's stronger than most people.
Isn’t it funny that in Inazuma and Liyue secret lore in weapons, artifacts or events is almost always centered around supernatural and things related to them, while in Mondstadt it’s politics, aristocracy plotting and family issues?

I'm grateful for this summary and a bit disappointed because there's still lore crumbs I missed like Kaeya going into the Dawn Winery near Adelinde when you go outside the mansion assuming you haven't completed the quest.

Lolol I saw Kaeya and I was like "am I on co-op?" I was doing the letters and I went back to the statue of the seven bc my Heizou gonna die- I was so confused on why Kaeya was even there, I didn't know that you can see him

The only new thing we learn is that Kaeya is not a Prince of Kheanriah but he is a noble as his clan was seen fit to lead after King Irmin's fall. And the fact the Alberich Clan keeps no records of themselves other than there oral history

thank you hoyo for making an eye-opener to those who like to mischaracterize diluc and kaeya's connection with each other, they still care for eo and it shows in their letters. The fact that diluc kept kaeya's letters (9 beautifully hand-written letters i may add) and how he still keeps that ugly va- kaeya's vase in the manor is so funny to me. Kaeya didn't blame diluc for what he did or how he reacted, he blamed himself cause he knew what he was doing, confessing everything he was hiding to trust diluc fully. Kaeya also cherishes the shells they once picked when they were younger until this day damn. I'd like to point out that kaeya also advised diluc how to leave mond swiftly, which shows how much he understands him even after diluc scarred his eye (which he takes as a punishment that we will forever live in lies, well that's what he said). You can never say they hate each other with how much hoyo has made these two show their bond, it's not fair that they have to act so distantly toward each other nowadays. (pls let them reconcile hoyo, i can say so much more for these two but omg let them talk for themselves at this point)
Yup. This even made me like Kaeya a little bit more tbh (wasn't really fond of him before). Seeing both care for each other, even if it's in their own way, is lovely to see. They'll reconcile in the future, but in the meantime we can enjoy some lighthearted sibling's bickery.
what i love about reading kaeya's letters to diluc is that if you read them in chronological order, you can tell their relationship shifted from a cold one to looking after one another in their own ways. in the first few letters, you can tell kaeya was really worried for diluc and made it super obvious that he was (which kinda shows he was young and still amateur?) but knew he didn't deserve to face him (eg. "you don't have to reply" "leave at night, too, so things won't be too saddening") and then in the latest letters, kaeya had his usual witty humor (telling diluc and the darknight hero they should be friends) and enigmatic way of saying things (shows he's now more mature and speaks vaguely on purpose cus he knows that diluc understands him) which meant they are now in better terms. I JUST LOVE THE NEW RAGBROS LORE SO MUCH
I feel like that he'd roleplay as a pirate as kid to cover up the actual Khaenri'ahn secret of his right eye. It CAN'T be a coincidence that Pierro, him and King Irmin all over their right eye, and they're all Khaenri'ahn. And it can't be a coincidence that Diluc injured THAT eye specifically. You are right, Kaya playing pirate could likely be conected with him beeing a spy, but its not that sure. Irmin had covered his left eye, not his right. I also dont think Diluc tryed to injure his right eye during theire fight. Since Kaya holds his sword in his right hand, he probably just turnd his right side towards Diluc.

If Kaeya is from a clan, it's possible that he and Pierro could definitely be related, even if they aren't immediate family. The other thing is, if Kaeya's clan became regents after King Irmin fell, while he might not have had royal blood, it's possible that Kaeya's clan was still a very high-ranking noble family that was close to the royal family. Not just anyone would be able to become regents after a King's downfall.
The alberich clan is definitely high-ranked, possibly just like a dukedom. A duke is the next in line to the throne if a kingdom doesnt have any successor
@@theturtle8869 I mean, that's a possibility, but I feel like based on the evidence in the game - Kaeya's constellation of the peacock (peacocks are often related to royalty or prestige or just general fanciness), the fact that his constellation denotes he has "excellent blood", and his last name being Alberich, literally meaning "ruler" - I think it's safe to say that Kaeya just being from some nobody clan isn't all that likely.
I think, a dukedom is still from the line of the royal, the duke usually from the king brother or the queen brother. They're not from royal blood but they sure the family of the King or the Queen. That's why when the king fall, the duke will take the throne. So we can assume that Alberich is from the dukedom and still a family to the royal that's why when King Irmin fall, the Alberich is the one who took the throne. So it's still make Kaeya a prince even though he's not from the royal blood.
@@yuicaniago I don’t think the dukedom had to be from the royal line, or at least not in the game, because if the Alberich Clan was a dukedom then they’d have some Royal blood, but it’s possible they were related to the Queen (assuming it was the queen that married into the royal family). If the Royal family had several children but had the oldest be heir, the other children would probably be married of into other Nobel families. Since usually dukedoms have royal blood, but the Alberich clan doesn’t, and that’s one of the highest ranks to be in order to become regent ruler, I’m gonna make an assumption and say that Khaenri’ah might’ve had an archduke that would be related to said royal family (via child that wasn’t heir to the throne becoming an archduke) but the members of the Archduke’s family died during the fall of Khaenri’ah along with the royal family (which is why they- the Alberich clan became regent rulers)
What if Kaeya wrote 'Father' because he just doesnt consider him as one even if it was the biogical one? Because he considers Crepus as the true father, as the one who gave him home and family. Kaeya's story mentions that he decided to embrace Mondstadt as his true home after Crepus died, thats why he confessed to Diluc about his mission as a Khaenri'ah spy.
But only a few lines further he calls Crepus "adoptive father"...I still believe the theory about Kaeya being a royal hasn't been completely debunked...anyway, I'd say we either have a "Boromir/Faramir" or an "Aragorn"...
I also thought that “father” was a comment on how he doesn’t consider his father really being one. More interested in teaching him doctrines of the Alberich clan and using him as a tool. Even if he mentioned later Crepus as an adopted father. Maybe he had a close relationship with Crepus, but still didn’t call him father. Maybe because the burden of secrets. Or maybe father wasn’t a good word and he wanted to keep Crepus separated in his mind from his biological dad.
Honestly I was thinking that Kaeya used quote marks to signify he was talking about his real father, not Crepus, but since he calls Crepus “adoptive father” I thought maybe he was using the quotation marks because he doesn’t consider his birth father his “father”. In the video when they said that Kaeya might’ve been adopted I just confused because surely if he was just adopted to be a pawn, then why teach him about the Alberich Clan? Maybe it is an Alberich clan thing. I have a feeling Pierro is related to Kaeya's clan is some way. They have similar physical appearance. Pierro has darker skin than the rest of the Harbingers and he has a navy strand of hair in his head, the same colour as Kaeya's hair. And since Dain isn't from the clan, he doesn't cover his eye
What my brain keeps coming back to is this - why is Kaeya not affected by the so-called celestial curse if it was cast on the people of Khaenri'ah "at the level of fate itself?" Either he/the Alberich Clan aren't actually Khaenri'ahn (which seems a bit odd given his eyes), or the curse was cast with some glaring exceptions. We learn in this quest that the Alberich Clan became ruling regents of Khaenri'ah after the Cataclysm. But who would they have been ruling? Wasn't the entirety of Khaenri'ah destroyed and the people turned into monsters? But hold on. We know of a group that commands the hilichurls, the former people of Khaenri'ah. It's the Abyss Order! Which raises the question of why the Abyss Order was spared from the curse in the first place. Putting aside foreign members like Enjou, it almost seems as though they had the protection of some other Primordial God, whose domain is the Abyss and space...

it also mentions the Prinzessin der Verurteilung, which makes me think the series has more lore basis than we think it does, and that Fischl may have a greater role in the story overall

They still had bits of truth tho. I don't know if it was Mihoyo's way of giving us hints of future events or Kaeya knowing what would happen tho. He says: "my grandfather went on to defeat a hydra, a silver-haired banshee, a wicked abyss dragon..." Hydra probably refers to the god we defeated in Liyue. Silver-haired banshee I don't know if I'm right but it's probably our dear Signora. About the dragon I don't know if it refers to Dvallin (under abyss influence) or some other dragon that may appear in the future but it's still kinda sus. A little comment I want to make is about the secret message that Diluc receives in his Idle Animation “Attn, its snowing”. Remember how the Hidden Shuumatsuban Quest in Inazuma tells us that Fatui agents use a secret code, and each Harbinger has their own secret code. What if the Secret Message was written in secret code, not that there is a secret meaning to it, but instead to tell Diluc about a Harbinger, perhaps even hinting to him that a certain Harbinger is coming to Mondstadt soon?
@@pineddew honestly, I think it is between Dottore or Regrator, with Regrator being the more likely one. Dottore has been to Mondstadt before, during Collei’s time in Mondstadt, and we are about to meet Collei for the first time so seeing him again is a possibility. However Regrator has the Roth Hotel in Mondstadt, and we have been hearing about him a bit more recently. Idk enough about the other Harbingers to assume if they are a possible candidate or not.

Okay hear me out, Varka is Capitano. Just an interesting thought because Capitano is the only who would fit the "I cover my face - and looky here surprise I also use a voice changer" character plot twist. The other 10 might even be surprised that he is Varka all along. Plus, we haven't got a Harbinger Boss Battlegrounds in Mondstadt, Capitano is the only one I see who fits the place. Based on my observation, Dotorre fits in Sumeru (due to his mad scientist nature, and the Heresy lab he set up there); Sandrone fits in Fontaine (due to her steampunk aesthetic, robotics and such); Arleccino fits in Natlan (since we believe that Natlan is a nation fueled by war, I suspect there are a lot of poor families there who sell their children to the Fatui where Arleccino gladly take them to her orphanage); While, based on Arleccino's dialogue on the recent Winter Night's Lazzo, Pulcinella and Pantalone seems to be staying always on Snezhnaya while doing their business; And, lastly, Pierro which is probably in Snezhnaya too due to his rank and closeness to Khaenri'ah.
Theory: Maybe they are covering their eyes cause the king might see from there? Since maybe both Kaeya and Pierro are both spies in Mondstadt and Snezhnaya respectively? Covering it since they don't want to be a spy anymore. And the King might still be alive, hiding from the Celestia.
OH THATS RIGHT, that could be how this spy thing works, by using their own eyes to spread information as much as possible. Even little eventcould be recorded. But since they were rebelling Alberich clan now and have their own side for life, they covering it so the clan couldn't spying at them anymore. It is fair to be theorized.

I met Kaeya outside, it was an unexpected pleasure. The quest said Leave the Winery, so that's what I do. Exit the front door. I've learned by now that there must be something The game wants me to see/do. But excellent discovery with the letters on the rooftop
The whole covering the right eye.. So Irmin is the one eyed king with his right eye available to see the world. Is there a chance that both Kaeya and Pierrot chose to cover that eye in case the Khaenriah 'blood' might allow Irmin to see what they see? Pierrot sides with Tsaritsa and Kaeya doesn't want to betray Mondstadt, I doubt they want Irmin to see what they see

What really touched my heart was Kaeya not blaming Diluc for getting angry and attacking him, even wounding his eye, after Kaeya told him the truth about being a spy. The event where Kaeya got his Vision (even as he kind of lost one at the same time choosing to use an eyepatch .) Kaeya understands that the death of father was so traumatic to Diluc that he wasn’t able to cope with more. Maybe on some level Crepus using a delusion and dying because of that felt like a betrayal to Diluc. His father wasn’t who he thought he was. And in the mids of all that grief suddenly another person close to him reveals they had lied. Losing his most trusted supports would make everyone brake and act without thinking. I’m sure Diluc is also regretting the divide between them but he’s not the best person to express his feelings, where as Kaeya express much but usually nothing really important to him. Always the charming rogue facade.
I feel bad for kaeya too… he still felt bad for being an agent and he never really did anything to succeed in his old mission. I’m sure he never wanted to do any of that…. :(
Actually...I believe he has done something in the prologue (I watched it all over again after unblocking Kaeya's story and a lot of things just ring so differently!)...but you're right: he definitely wouldn't want to. Problem his, like almost all cryo characters, he has a strong sense of duty and tends to sacrifice his feelings in order to achieve a greater goal...Diluc can heal on his own, but if Kaeya is to be saved someone or something else has to intervene...the stakes are just too high for him to break free from his situation...I very much hope that we'll find a way...

I feel like Kaeya's heart was broken to pieces watching his father died, his brother changed, the burden of being spy.. and surely he purposely told everything to Master Diluc that day because he knew what would happened.. he want to end his life in his brother's hand.. but he failed because he got a vision.. now he put on a mask known as a smooth talker Kaeya Well thats my headcanon anyway
@@FahrizalSurya it's difficult to say...I think he told himself that, whatever the outcome, it would still be better than agonizing alone: if Diluc had understood him, he would have found some confort, maybe even a solution...or at least he wouldn't face his situation alone. If Diluc had been angered (as it was the case), he would end his life and that would still be better than having to choose between Mondstadt and Khaenri'ah in Kaeya's eyes...of course, neither happened, Kaeya's still stuck in his dilemma as Diluc is stuck in his grieving process...And I wonder if Kaeya came to think of his brother as his "safeguard" so to speak: he knows Diluc will protect Mondstadt at any cost so, as long as Diluc's around and strong enough to take him on, Kaeya doesn't have to worry. When the time comes Diluc will stop him...this way he'll be able to both save Mondstadt and fulfill his duty to Khaenri'ah...

This, I can agree. Plausible that the Alberichs took him in and stepped in as regents because the heir is too young to rule. Though, why did they drop him in Mondstadt is still quite a mystery.
@@mjbacalla642 Maybe they were like Lord Protectors to him. Lord Protectors, if I remeber correctly, step up to rule the Kingdom and raise the original heir until they come of age. I believe Alberich Clan was in-laws of King Irmin and that is why they were the regents even though they did not possess royal blood. There is also the fact that despite the cataclysm being 500 years ago, Kaeya is only 21 and we know time flows differently in the Abyss. They might’ve left him in Mondstadt in a way of saving/hiding him and went back to Khaenri’ah but I am not really sure. I also have theories that Pierro is the ‘father’ that abandoned Kaeya in front of the Dawn Winery. Since the letter was written by a child, most likely before the said ‘father’ left him in Mond, that person might be his Lord Protector/Uncle instead of his biological one.
We already knew Kaeya's eye was fine because he says so when we asked him about the eyepatch. Also, he might still be Royal. IF ( big if... possible copium) he was adopted and Alberich is the clan who adopted him when King Irmin failed. Also, I think hilichurls come from multiple cataclysm. The Eclipse tribe is definitely Khaenri'ahn ... the rest maybe not. There are a lot of things teased but not confirmed... just to keep us guessing.
even if kaeya is not of king irmin's blood, he is still the closest thing to a khaenriah royal. king irmin fell and his clan took regent, they are basically the highest ranking clan after irmin

Exactly, and it could be a thing where he has no respect for his biological father for abandoning him and making him act as a spy. Reasonably so, may I add.
The reason father is in quotes could simply be because at the time, Kaeya might have disowned his father as such in his head and could have been speaking sarcastically because he is upset with the man. After all, we saw that he stole the record of his clan from the fire that was being burnt which was an offense to his clan right then and there. He must think of Crepus as more of a father than his actual dad, perhaps.

I love that this reveals that not all Khaenr'iahns follow the Abyss order, at least, I take it that Kaeya's family essentially pulled off an Enkanomiya, where regular people were/are just trying to survive.
I still feel there are gaps in story behind Diluc's past. First, why did Diluc fight Kaeya after he told him the truth? Is whatever Kaeya's secret was, it's something that make him be considered evil? Like for example, he is indirectly the cause of Crepus' death. Or he told Diluc that he will betray or destroy Mondstadt because the order of his clan. If all he said that he is the descendant or survivor from a destroyed nation, i dont think Diluc will fight him to the point almost kill him. It's also sus for me that he decided to tell Diluc his secret right after Crepus' death. Also why did Crepus possess a Delusion anyway? Diluc received vision when he was very young (i think he is the youngest to have a vision in mondstadt at the time, around 10 years old? I forgot), so if the delusion is for Diluc (manga spoiler: Crepus dialog kinda implied that the delusion he brought is for diluc, and somehow he doesnt need it anymore), why do vision holder need delusion? If it's for himself, how and why he have them?

Diluc started drinking lots after Crepus' death. Kaeya joined him that night and out of drunkenness (and also because he was really guilty of what happened), he confessed that he was actually a spy of Khaenri'ah. Diluc got engraged by it, because Khaenri'ah used abyssmal powers, the monster that made his father used delusion (that lead to his death) is a monster from the abyss/Khaenri'ah. So they got into a fight after that (also the night where Kaeya recieved his cryo vision).

I still think the whole situation with Crepus' death suspicious, but i hope when the time come, Kaeya will side with Mondstadt. The event: Diluc lore What it actually is: Kaeya lore Along with that, I think Cat missed an important of Kaeya’s fifth letter, which is when he writes: “A Letter in Beautiful Handwriting (V): To D: A Letter in Beautiful Handwriting (V): I didn't try to hide it from you on purpose, you know. But I suppose you found out all the same, huh?” Right after this sentence, he talks about eyepatches and how people wear them if they’re blind or have a scar over their eye. However, we know that the scar was caused by Diluc. Cat’s points about covering the right eye to respect or rebel Irimin make sense, but what if there was something else about his eye? Kaeya’s elemental burst consists of three icicles with markings on them. I’m pretty sure that the markings are either in hilichurlian or the Teyvat language. They spell out “unu,” which means “one” in hilichurlian. “One” refers to their version of a divine being or something. I don’t remember exactly but it was something along those lines. So, what if the Alberichs, or maybe just Kaeya, are somewhat like gods. Hear me out. In the last sentence of Kaeya’s birthday letter, kaeya says that he has a lot of time. Do you know who else said that? **The Abyss Twin**, who is affiliated with Khaneri’ah. Do you know who else is affiliated with Khaneri’ah? **Kaeya**. Khaneri’ah never had a god, so it wasn’t considered a real nation. However, that “time” remark leads me to believe that Khaneri’ah hactually is the nation of time. So many things about Khaneri’ah refer to time, and there is already a canonical time god named Istaroth. Some may say “ but Istaroth is one of the shining shades of the primordial one, while the other archons are not shining shades but from celestial which are the ones who defeated the primordial one and the shades and are secretly evil and blah blah blah. Well, what if Khaneri’ah, Sal Vindagyr, Tsrumi Island (not too sure about this one because I haven’t finished the quest because it’s so tedious), the Chasm civilization, and possibly more, are the nations that worship the original gods (the primordial one and etc). That’s why Celestial destroyed the nations, to wipe out all of the primordial one’s and shades’ existence. To add to this, the abyss twin has abyssal powers, as as we know, time in the abyss is different from time in teyvat. Khaenri’ah, as far as we know, is in the abyss, where time is different from teyvat. So what if abyssal powers are remnants of the power of time, and a specific few in khaeneriah can manipulate time to a larger extent. Thus is why Kaeya’s father called him “khaenriahs last hope,” because he has those enhanced abyssal powers that could manipulate time. This is a very far fetched theory but I’m all for it lol.

Lol That's a very interesting thing you point out there and I think your theory is pretty good As for the time passing differently in Abyss part I'd like to add one more thing to that which is related too So I'm not so sure about the details and where the lore for this is found but as far as I'm concerned in Childe's backstory it is mentioned that he has fell into the Abyss and spent 3 months(?) there while training but when he came back it was like 3 days(?) or smth As I said the details might not be exact but I am pretty sure there was something with time like that. So beside The Abyss Twin saying that they have always had enough time and Kaeya mentionimg something similar to that there is also Childe's experience which are all Abyss and time related and supports the theory even more. Very cool point again!
Also, additional lore no one asked for and not even that much related but came to my mind as I mentioned Childe and Abyss lmao: It is not really about the time but about darkness of Abyss. So the reason Childe's eyes don't glow is because when he fell into the Abyss, he spent so much time there while looking at the deep darkness. It is mentioned somewhere in his boss fight drops or boss fight archive idk but in game there writes something like "his both eyes witnessing heavy darkness" or smth I am not sure about the adjective before darkness lol but anyway thank you if you read this even if you already knew it and I am glad if you just learnt it. Along with that, I also recently made another theory. Kaeya is probably still a descendant or the Eclipse Dynasty despite the recent lore bombs. In his letter (well I don’t think it’s really a letter but I’m just going to call it that), Kaeya refers to his supposed biological father as “Father” with quotations, which either means that he has resentment towards his father for abandoning him and doesn’t consider him his true father or he really isn’t his father at all. There are way too many signs that Kaeya is royal, and it’s too deep for Hoyo to just change it without anyone noticing. Despite confirming that the Alberichs aren’t royal, they didn’t exactly confirm that Kaeya himself isn’t royal. So let me explain what I think really happened. What if the Alberichs didn’t like King Irimin and poisoned him somehow in order to become regents so that they could rule Khaenri’ah. I think that they poisoned Irimin in a similar way to Uncle Tian in Yelan’s story quest so that it seems like Irimin’s strength just failed while it was actually due to sabotage by the Alberichs. Then maybe the Alberichs tried to kill the royal family, but then one of them fled Khaenri’ah with one of the royal members to Mondstadt, where they fell in love and had a child, who is Kaeya (I know the timeline doesn’t exactly line up but I have no idea how it would work this is just a theory), and then maybe the royal parent left the Alberich parent to raise Kaeya with the rest of his/her clan while hiding the fact that he is royal, which is where kaeya got his first adoptive father, “Father.” This also might be the time when kaeya starts wearing an eyepatch, with the pretense that he is blind under that eye but really it’s something that signifies that he’s royal, probably heterochromia or something. So the reason he wears his eyepatch is to hide the fact that he’s royal. So yeah he’s still royal but he’s also still an Alberich
The theory that Eroch was actually a maskless Dottore has strengthened now that we know Dottore has created "different segments" of himself who each have their own consciousness. *0. I believe this theory was first thought of by Chill with Aster 1. Eroch remains faceless in text and in the manga. And his fate is unknown after the KoF discovered his actions against Crepus. 2. We only see Eroch's chin meaning that his mouth/teeth and eye colour were purposely hidden. 3. The bottom of Eroch's hair frills are slightly visible and very similar to Dottore's hair frills. 4. After we see Barnabas return to the Fatui facility. The Dottore we meet is wearing a suit very similar to Eroch's compared to the masked Dottore who we see speak to Diluc. The hardest factors to explain with this theory is why nobody recognized this Dottore if he was Eroch and what that blue ring that Eroch wears does.

Maybe his 'Father' is trying to save the remaining Royal Blood by saving Kaeya in the past ,and then they try to rule post cataclysm Khaenri'ah because they has one member of the Royal Blood but failed.. So, they decided to sent Kaeya to Mondstadt to live a better life and as double agent

@Eris i have read the manga. What I meant by personality department is that in the game diluc is always grumping about abyss order and fatui. I hoped for his development in later updates but even in this latest costume event he is still grumping about both of mentioned earlier. I got bored of his fussing over time.
What if Kaeya and Pierro wear eye patches to prevent their sight from being shared with the one-eyed king? I mean the one eyed king is basically a reference to Odin from Norse mythology that sacrificed one of his eyes to see everything that happens in the world. It could mean that to see everything, Irmin has to see through the right eyes of his descendants/fellow Khaenri'ahns. So covering the eyes could mean to prevent sharing their vision with Irmin and also prove that they don't agree with his opinion on embracing the abyss.

I saw a theory that Kaeya may actually have royal blood, this because the letter says ">Did< not have royal" this could mean that at the start they didn't, but after maybe someone with royal blood married someone from the Alberich Clan, there was royal blood
Royal blood is also an interesting thing. Being a noble has to start from somewhere. If you get knighted or you become a king, don’t you then start a new noble/royal bloodline? So by becoming the regents of fallen Khaenriah, didn’t that turn Alberich bloodline “noble”?

I simplified the whole thing just trying to say that both the noble houses and royal families have their origins somewhere in history. There has to be the first person in a house or clan to be given a noble tittle, and if it’s hereditary, then their descendants are also noble. Same with royals. Some person rose to be a king or a queen and the bloodline inherited that right. Hope we get more lore on Kaeya and Khaenriah at some point :)

the relationship between kaeya and diluc has always posed many questions to me and after the revelation of their family trauma I realized how much tragedy there was behind the jokes of kaeya and the reproaches of diluc. a betrayed trust, a broken heart, are not easily repaired tears. diluc was angry with kaeya and himself for not protecting his father, kaeya is destroyed by his role as a spy. Years pass and kaeya tries with dozens of letters to apologize to him without ever imposing a request for forgiveness as he knows what he did. At the same time, diluc has a big heart and would like to forgive him and go back to being a family ( or maybe something more ;) ) But they both still need some time. When their secrets will be revealed and their past will be tested as they are now, they will stay together again. sound more like Odin who is a one-eyed God. And Khaenri'ah's names of people sound like Nordic or scandanavian like "Rhinedottir and Durin the dwarf who became a dragon" for example. and also Trinquetra is so common in norse Myth, especially Thor's hammer. This is just speculation though, so trigger warning.
There's a small mistake on your timeline at the start. All of those happened in the 3 years span. Event in the manga which happened one year ago, Diluc is already make complete return
Given that Dainsleif also covers his right eye (if not with eyepatch), that samachurls have one eye in the middle of their face and that legend of Odin have him leaving one of his eyes in font of knowledge (which here could be Abyss)... it's possible that Irmin's Right Eye is source of corruption curse latches on most strongly. PS. Event confirmed that Kaeya is not blind on his right eye... but if ALL it have is scar is a question still.

Not only Kaeya and Pierro, but Dainsleif has something in the right side of his face (mask) althought his right eye is not covered, however all three of them do have a four branch star pupils.
If you're not an Asian, the swore brothers thing surely have different meaning to you but here in Asia, those who live in the same roof are considered family. Let's say Kaeya is not adopted but Crepus still took guardianship to him and grew up in their house. How can mere a child not see that as familial bond. Not unless Crepus abuse and mistreated Kaeya, in that way he wouldn't see Diluc as brother.
that’s what always felt strange to me tbh, why would kaeya react so coldly to crepus’s death? he’s clearly very fond of diluc, but he barely ever mentions crepus at all and when he dies he just scoffs at the fact that he was a delusion wielder. it always made me think that maybe diluc and kaeya weren’t growing up on equal terms, i wish we learned more about it at some point
He wasn't super super young when adopted- maybe 10-13 years old. The manga takes place three years after Diluc’s 18th birthday, putting the two of them at around 21 during the manga, and during the events of the Prologue chapter a few months later. At some point during his tenure as a knight, he tells the Grandmaster “One afternoon near the end of summer a decade ago, my father and I passed by the Dawn Winery.” which is when he first meets Crepus and Diluc.

This quest's execution was horrible, I went out the door after to talk to tuner because I had a commission and Kaeya was not there, or maybe I just missed him but usually they just keep the character there during the event. The letters being scattered randomly is also horrible, who would visit Jean's office unless you're a recent player doing story quests around there?
I actually quite like it because the lore aspect is basically optional and even if you somehow miss everything I think Mihoyo in the future will fit everything in more major quests

He was really nice to Klee once, so Alice immediately went to get the adoption papers lol. Okay not really, but she did include him in their next family vacation

thank you hoyo for making an eye-opener to those who like to mischaracterize diluc and kaeya's connection with each other, they still care for eo and it shows in their letters. The fact that diluc kept kaeya's letters (9 beautifully hand-written letters i may add) and how he still keeps that ugly va- kaeya's vase in the manor is so funny to me. Kaeya didn't blame diluc for what he did or how he reacted, he blamed himself cause he knew what he was doing, confessing everything he was hiding to trust diluc fully. Kaeya also cherishes the shells they once picked when they were younger until this day damn. I'd like to point out that kaeya also advised diluc how to leave mond swiftly, which shows how much he understands him even after diluc scarred his eye (which he takes as a punishment that we will forever live in lies, well that's what he said). You can never say they hate each other with how much hoyo has made these two show their bond, it's not fair that they have to act so distantly toward each other nowadays. (pls let them reconcile hoyo, i can say so much more for these two but omg let them talk for themselves at this point)
Yup. This even made me like Kaeya a little bit more tbh (wasn't really fond of him before). Seeing both care for each other, even if it's in their own way, is lovely to see.

what i love about reading kaeya's letters to diluc is that if you read them in chronological order, you can tell their relationship shifted from a cold one to looking after one another in their own ways. in the first few letters, you can tell kaeya was really worried for diluc and made it super obvious that he was (which kinda shows he was young and still amateur?) but knew he didn't deserve to face him (eg. "you don't have to reply" "leave at night, too, so things won't be too saddening") and then in the latest letters, kaeya had his usual witty humor (telling diluc and the darknight hero they should be friends) and enigmatic way of saying things (shows he's now more mature and speaks vaguely on purpose cus he knows that diluc understands him) which meant they are now in better terms. I JUST LOVE THE NEW RAGBROS LORE SO MUCH
I feel like that he'd roleplay as a pirate as kid to cover up the actual Khaenri'ahn secret of his right eye. It CAN'T be a coincidence that Pierro, him and King Irmin all over their right eye, and they're all Khaenri'ahn. And it can't be a coincidence that Diluc injured THAT eye specifically.

If Kaeya is from a clan, it's possible that he and Pierro could definitely be related, even if they aren't immediate family. The other thing is, if Kaeya's clan became regents after King Irmin fell, while he might not have had royal blood, it's possible that Kaeya's clan was still a very high-ranking noble family that was close to the royal family. Not just anyone would be able to become regents after a King's downfall.
The alberich clan is definitely high-ranked, possibly just like a dukedom. A duke is the next in line to the throne if a kingdom doesnt have any successor
Or maybe the destruction of khaenriah was so severe that there was no other choice. No other clan remained or was strong enough to lead the nation.
@@theturtle8869 I mean, that's a possibility, but I feel like based on the evidence in the game - Kaeya's constellation of the peacock (peacocks are often related to royalty or prestige or just general fanciness), the fact that his constellation denotes he has "excellent blood", and his last name being Alberich, literally meaning "ruler" - I think it's safe to say that Kaeya just being from some nobody clan isn't all that likely.
I think, a dukedom is still from the line of the royal, the duke usually from the king brother or the queen brother. They're not from royal blood but they sure the family of the King or the Queen. That's why when the king fall, the duke will take the throne. So we can assume that Alberich is from the dukedom and still a family to the royal that's why when King Irmin fall, the Alberich is the one who took the throne. So it's still make Kaeya a prince even though he's not from the royal blood.
@@yuicaniago I don’t think the dukedom had to be from the royal line, or at least not in the game, because if the Alberich Clan was a dukedom then they’d have some Royal blood, but it’s possible they were related to the Queen (assuming it was the queen that married into the royal family).
If the Royal family had several children but had the oldest be heir, the other children would probably be married of into other Nobel families. Since usually dukedoms have royal blood, but the Alberich clan doesn’t, and that’s one of the highest ranks to be in order to become regent ruler, I’m gonna make an assumption and say that Khaenri’ah might’ve had an archduke that would be related to said royal family (via child that wasn’t heir to the throne becoming an archduke) but the members of the Archduke’s family died during the fall of Khaenri’ah along with the royal family (which is why they- the Alberich clan became regent rulers)
What if Kaeya wrote 'Father' because he just doesnt consider him as one even if it was the biogical one? Because he considers Crepus as the true father, as the one who gave him home and family. Kaeya's story mentions that he decided to embrace Mondstadt as his true home after Crepus died, thats why he confessed to Diluc about his mission as a Khaenri'ah spy.
But only a few lines further he calls Crepus "adoptive father"...I still believe the theory about Kaeya being a royal hasn't been completely debunked...anyway, I'd say we either have a "Boromir/Faramir" or an "Aragorn"...
I also thought that “father” was a comment on how he doesn’t consider his father really being one. More interested in teaching him doctrines of the Alberich clan and using him as a tool.
Even if he mentioned later Crepus as an adopted father. Maybe he had a close relationship with Crepus, but still didn’t call him father. Maybe because the burden of secrets. Or maybe father wasn’t a good word and he wanted to keep Crepus separated in his mind from his biological dad.
Honestly I was thinking that Kaeya used quote marks to signify he was talking about his real father, not Crepus, but since he calls Crepus “adoptive father” I thought maybe he was using the quotation marks because he doesn’t consider his birth father his “father”.
In the video when they said that Kaeya might’ve been adopted I just confused because surely if he was just adopted to be a pawn, then why teach him about the Alberich Clan? I think Kaeya is definitely of Nobel origins because - he’s got excellent blood (Nobels are considered to have excellent blood)

Maybe it is an Alberich clan thing. I have a feeling Pierro is related to Kaeya's clan is some way. They have similar physical appearance. Pierro has darker skin than the rest of the Harbingers and he has a navy strand of hair in his head, the same colour as Kaeya's hair. And since Dain isn't from the clan, he doesn't cover his eye
What my brain keeps coming back to is this - why is Kaeya not affected by the so-called celestial curse if it was cast on the people of Khaenri'ah "at the level of fate itself?" Either he/the Alberich Clan aren't actually Khaenri'ahn (which seems a bit odd given his eyes), or the curse was cast with some glaring exceptions.
We learn in this quest that the Alberich Clan became ruling regents of Khaenri'ah after the Cataclysm. But who would they have been ruling? Wasn't the entirety of Khaenri'ah destroyed and the people turned into monsters?
But hold on. We know of a group that commands the hilichurls, the former people of Khaenri'ah. It's the Abyss Order!
Which raises the question of why the Abyss Order was spared from the curse in the first place. Putting aside foreign members like Enjou, it almost seems as though they had the protection of some other Primordial God, whose domain is the Abyss and space...

A little comment I want to make is about the secret message that Diluc receives in his Idle Animation “Attn, its snowing”. Remember how the Hidden Shuumatsuban Quest in Inazuma tells us that Fatui agents use a secret code, and each Harbinger has their own secret code. What if the Secret Message was written in secret code, not that there is a secret meaning to it, but instead to tell Diluc about a Harbinger, perhaps even hinting to him that a certain Harbinger is coming to Mondstadt soon?

Dottore has been to Mondstadt before, during Collei’s time in Mondstadt, and we are about to meet Collei for the first time so seeing him again is a possibility. However Regrator has the Roth Hotel in Mondstadt, and we have been hearing about him a bit more recently. Idk enough about the other Harbingers to assume if they are a possible candidate or not.
I hope it's Dottore, not only because it means I get to see one of my favorite characters again, but it could also mean we'll finally get a fucking Ludi Harpastum event after 2 years.

Just an interesting thought because Capitano is the only who would fit the "I cover my face - and looky here surprise I also use a voice changer" character plot twist. The other 10 might even be surprised that he is Varka all along.

Based on my observation, Dotorre fits in Sumeru (due to his mad scientist nature, and the Heresy lab he set up there); Sandrone fits in Fontaine (due to her steampunk aesthetic, robotics and such); Arleccino fits in Natlan (since we believe that Natlan is a nation fueled by war, I suspect there are a lot of poor families there who sell their children to the Fatui where Arleccino gladly take them to her orphanage); While, based on Arleccino's dialogue on the recent Winter Night's Lazzo, Pulcinella and Pantalone seems to be staying always on Snezhnaya while doing their business; And, lastly, Pierro which is probably in Snezhnaya too due to his rank and closeness to Khaenri'ah.

OH THATS RIGHT, that could be how this spy thing works, by using their own eyes to spread information as much as possible. Even little eventcould be recorded. But since they were rebelling Alberich clan now and have their own side for life, they covering it so the clan couldn't spying at them anymore. It is fair to be theorized.

What really touched my heart was Kaeya not blaming Diluc for getting angry and attacking him, even wounding his eye, after Kaeya told him the truth about being a spy. The event where Kaeya got his Vision (even as he kind of lost one at the same time choosing to use an eyepatch .)
Kaeya understands that the death of father was so traumatic to Diluc that he wasn’t able to cope with more.
Maybe on some level Crepus using a delusion and dying because of that felt like a betrayal to Diluc. His father wasn’t who he thought he was. And in the mids of all that grief suddenly another person close to him reveals they had lied. Losing his most trusted supports would make everyone brake and act without thinking.
I’m sure Diluc is also regretting the divide between them but he’s not the best person to express his feelings, where as Kaeya express much but usually nothing really important to him. Always the charming rogue facade.
I feel bad for kaeya too… he still felt bad for being an agent and he never really did anything to succeed in his old mission. I’m sure he never wanted to do any of that…. :(
Actually...I believe he has done something in the prologue (I watched it all over again after unblocking Kaeya's story and a lot of things just ring so differently!)...but you're right: he definitely wouldn't want to. Problem his, like almost all cryo characters, he has a strong sense of duty and tends to sacrifice his feelings in order to achieve a greater goal...Diluc can heal on his own, but if Kaeya is to be saved someone or something else has to intervene...the stakes are just too high for him to break free from his situation...I very much hope that we'll find a way...

@@FahrizalSurya it's difficult to say...I think he told himself that, whatever the outcome, it would still be better than agonizing alone: if Diluc had understood him, he would have found some confort, maybe even a solution...or at least he wouldn't face his situation alone. If Diluc had been angered (as it was the case), he would end his life and that would still be better than having to choose between Mondstadt and Khaenri'ah in Kaeya's eyes...of course, neither happened, Kaeya's still stuck in his dilemma as Diluc is stuck in his grieving process...And I wonder if Kaeya came to think of his brother as his "safeguard" so to speak: he knows Diluc will protect Mondstadt at any cost so, as long as Diluc's around and strong enough to take him on, Kaeya doesn't have to worry. When the time comes Diluc will stop him...this way he'll be able to both save Mondstadt and fulfill his duty to Khaenri'ah...

This, I can agree. Plausible that the Alberichs took him in and stepped in as regents because the heir is too young to rule. Though, why did they drop him in Mondstadt is still quite a mystery.
@@mjbacalla642 Maybe they were like Lord Protectors to him. Lord Protectors, if I remeber correctly, step up to rule the Kingdom and raise the original heir until they come of age. I believe Alberich Clan was in-laws of King Irmin and that is why they were the regents even though they did not possess royal blood. There is also the fact that despite the cataclysm being 500 years ago, Kaeya is only 21 and we know time flows differently in the Abyss. They might’ve left him in Mondstadt in a way of saving/hiding him and went back to Khaenri’ah but I am not really sure. I also have theories that Pierro is the ‘father’ that abandoned Kaeya in front of the Dawn Winery. Since the letter was written by a child, most likely before the said ‘father’ left him in Mond, that person might be his Lord Protector/Uncle instead of his biological one.

The reason father is in quotes could simply be because at the time, Kaeya might have disowned his father as such in his head and could have been speaking sarcastically because he is upset with the man. I love that this reveals that not all Khaenr'iahns follow the Abyss order, at least, I take it that Kaeya's family essentially pulled off an Enkanomiya, where regular people were/are just trying to survive.
I still feel there are gaps in story behind Diluc's past. First, why did Diluc fight Kaeya after he told him the truth? Is whatever Kaeya's secret was, it's something that make him be considered evil? Like for example, he is indirectly the cause of Crepus' death. Or he told Diluc that he will betray or destroy Mondstadt because the order of his clan. If all he said that he is the descendant or survivor from a destroyed nation, i dont think Diluc will fight him to the point almost kill him. It's also sus for me that he decided to tell Diluc his secret right after Crepus' death.
Also why did Crepus possess a Delusion anyway? Diluc received vision when he was very young (i think he is the youngest to have a vision in mondstadt at the time, around 10 years old? I forgot), so if the delusion is for Diluc (manga spoiler: Crepus dialog kinda implied that the delusion he brought is for diluc, and somehow he doesnt need it anymore), why do vision holder need delusion? If it's for himself, how and why he have them?

Diluc started drinking lots after Crepus' death. Kaeya joined him that night and out of drunkenness (and also because he was really guilty of what happened), he confessed that he was actually a spy of Khaenri'ah. Diluc got engraged by it, because Khaenri'ah used abyssmal powers, the monster that made his father used delusion (that lead to his death) is a monster from the abyss/Khaenri'ah. So they got into a fight after that (also the night where Kaeya recieved his cryo vision).

I still think the whole situation with Crepus' death suspicious, but i hope when the time come, Kaeya will side with Mondstadt. Right after this sentence, he talks about eyepatches and how people wear them if they’re blind or have a scar over their eye. However, we know that the scar was caused by Diluc. Cat’s points about covering the right eye to respect or rebel Irimin make sense, but what if there was something else about his eye? Kaeya’s elemental burst consists of three icicles with markings on them. I’m pretty sure that the markings are either in hilichurlian or the Teyvat language. They spell out “unu,” which means “one” in hilichurlian. “One” refers to their version of a divine being or something. I don’t remember exactly but it was something along those lines. So, what if the Alberichs, or maybe just Kaeya, are somewhat like gods. Hear me out.
In the last sentence of Kaeya’s birthday letter, kaeya says that he has a lot of time. Do you know who else said that? **The Abyss Twin**, who is affiliated with Khaneri’ah. Do you know who else is affiliated with Khaneri’ah? **Kaeya**. Khaneri’ah never had a god, so it wasn’t considered a real nation. However, that “time” remark leads me to believe that Khaneri’ah hactually is the nation of time. So many things about Khaneri’ah refer to time, and there is already a canonical time god named Istaroth. Some may say “ but Istaroth is one of the shining shades of the primordial one, while the other archons are not shining shades but from celestial which are the ones who defeated the primordial one and the shades and are secretly evil and blah blah blah. Well, what if Khaneri’ah, Sal Vindagyr, Tsrumi Island (not too sure about this one because I haven’t finished the quest because it’s so tedious), the Chasm civilization, and possibly more, are the nations that worship the original gods (the primordial one and etc). That’s why Celestial destroyed the nations, to wipe out all of the primordial one’s and shades’ existence.
To add to this, the abyss twin has abyssal powers, as as we know, time in the abyss is different from time in teyvat. Khaenri’ah, as far as we know, is in the abyss, where time is different from teyvat. So what if abyssal powers are remnants of the power of time, and a specific few in khaeneriah can manipulate time to a larger extent. Thus is why Kaeya’s father called him “khaenriahs last hope,” because he has those enhanced abyssal powers that could manipulate time.
This is a very far fetched theory but I’m all for it lol.

So I'm not so sure about the details and where the lore for this is found but as far as I'm concerned in Childe's backstory it is mentioned that he has fell into the Abyss and spent 3 months(?) there while training but when he came back it was like 3 days(?) or smth
As I said the details might not be exact but I am pretty sure there was something with time like that. So beside The Abyss Twin saying that they have always had enough time and Kaeya mentionimg something similar to that there is also Childe's experience which are all Abyss and time related and supports the theory even more. Very cool point again!

It is not really about the time but about darkness of Abyss. So the reason Childe's eyes don't glow is because when he fell into the Abyss, he spent so much time there while looking at the deep darkness. It is mentioned somewhere in his boss fight drops or boss fight archive idk but in game there writes something like "his both eyes witnessing heavy darkness" or smth I am not sure about the adjective before darkness lol but anyway thank you if you read this even if you already knew it and I am glad if you just learnt it. Along with that, I also recently made another theory. Kaeya is probably still a descendant or the Eclipse Dynasty despite the recent lore bombs. In his letter (well I don’t think it’s really a letter but I’m just going to call it that), Kaeya refers to his supposed biological father as “Father” with quotations, which either means that he has resentment towards his father for abandoning him and doesn’t consider him his true father or he really isn’t his father at all.
There are way too many signs that Kaeya is royal, and it’s too deep for Hoyo to just change it without anyone noticing. Despite confirming that the Alberichs aren’t royal, they didn’t exactly confirm that Kaeya himself isn’t royal. So let me explain what I think really happened.
What if the Alberichs didn’t like King Irimin and poisoned him somehow in order to become regents so that they could rule Khaenri’ah. I think that they poisoned Irimin in a similar way to Uncle Tian in Yelan’s story quest so that it seems like Irimin’s strength just failed while it was actually due to sabotage by the Alberichs. Then maybe the Alberichs tried to kill the royal family, but then one of them fled Khaenri’ah with one of the royal members to Mondstadt, where they fell in love and had a child, who is Kaeya (I know the timeline doesn’t exactly line up but I have no idea how it would work this is just a theory), and then maybe the royal parent left the Alberich parent to raise Kaeya with the rest of his/her clan while hiding the fact that he is royal, which is where kaeya got his first adoptive father, “Father.” This also might be the time when kaeya starts wearing an eyepatch, with the pretense that he is blind under that eye but really it’s something that signifies that he’s royal, probably heterochromia or something. So the reason he wears his eyepatch is to hide the fact that he’s royal.
So yeah he’s still royal but he’s also still an Alberich

The theory that Eroch was actually a maskless Dottore has strengthened now that we know Dottore has created "different segments" of himself who each have their own consciousness.
*0. I believe this theory was first thought of by Chill with Aster
1. Eroch remains faceless in text and in the manga. And his fate is unknown after the KoF discovered his actions against Crepus.
2. We only see Eroch's chin meaning that his mouth/teeth and eye colour were purposely hidden.
3. The bottom of Eroch's hair frills are slightly visible and very similar to Dottore's hair frills.
4. After we see Barnabas return to the Fatui facility. The Dottore we meet is wearing a suit very similar to Eroch's compared to the masked Dottore who we see speak to Diluc.
The hardest factors to explain with this theory is why nobody recognized this Dottore if he was Eroch and what that blue ring that Eroch wears does.

His 'Father' might be from the Alberich clan, but what about Kaeya?
Maybe his 'Father' is trying to save the remaining Royal Blood by saving Kaeya in the past ,and then they try to rule post cataclysm Khaenri'ah because they has one member of the Royal Blood but failed.. So, they decided to sent Kaeya to Mondstadt to live a better life and as double agent

@Eris i have read the manga. What I meant by personality department is that in the game diluc is always grumping about abyss order and fatui. I hoped for his development in later updates but even in this latest costume event he is still grumping about both of mentioned earlier. I got bored of his fussing over time.

What if Kaeya and Pierro wear eye patches to prevent their sight from being shared with the one-eyed king? I mean the one eyed king is basically a reference to Odin from Norse mythology that sacrificed one of his eyes to see everything that happens in the world. It could mean that to see everything, Irmin has to see through the right eyes of his descendants/fellow Khaenri'ahns. So covering the eyes could mean to prevent sharing their vision with Irmin and also prove that they don't agree with his opinion on embracing the abyss.

Do you think there is a tunnel from the winery to the tavern? Adelinde said Diluc shuld be at the Angels Share and he suddendly came the stairs down. But if the secret room Moco and Hillie are talking about, would be the tunnel it would make sence.
Its funny how no one knows who is the dark hero except Jean, Kaeya and his employees, despite him clearly having red hair, and Diluc being the only person in mondstadt with red hair.

I saw a theory that Kaeya may actually have royal blood, this because the letter says ">Did< not have royal" this could mean that at the start they didn't, but after maybe someone with royal blood married someone from the Alberich Clan, there was royal blood
Royal blood is also an interesting thing. Being a noble has to start from somewhere. If you get knighted or you become a king, don’t you then start a new noble/royal bloodline? So by becoming the regents of fallen Khaenriah, didn’t that turn Alberich bloodline “noble”?

And yes, there’s a difference. I simplified the whole thing just trying to say that both the noble houses and royal families have their origins somewhere in history. There has to be the first person in a house or clan to be given a noble tittle, and if it’s hereditary, then their descendants are also noble. Same with royals. Some person rose to be a king or a queen and the bloodline inherited that right.
Hope we get more lore on Kaeya and Khaenriah at some point :)

This event really adds up to the history of Diluc and of khanreiah
So his clan is like on a duke level that tries to mend the destroyed country. That sad. Hope we got more lore of kaeya and all starter unit.
the relationship between kaeya and diluc has always posed many questions to me and after the revelation of their family trauma I realized how much tragedy there was behind the jokes of kaeya and the reproaches of diluc. a betrayed trust, a broken heart, are not easily repaired tears.
diluc was angry with kaeya and himself for not protecting his father, kaeya is destroyed by his role as a spy.
Years pass and kaeya tries with dozens of letters to apologize to him without ever imposing a request for forgiveness as he knows what he did. At the same time, diluc has a big heart and would like to forgive him and go back to being a family ( or maybe something more ;) )
But they both still need some time. When their secrets will be revealed and their past will be tested as they are now, they will stay together again.

sound more like Odin who is a one-eyed God. And Khaenri'ah's names of people sound like Nordic or scandanavian like "Rhinedottir and Durin the dwarf who became a dragon" for example. and also Trinquetra is so common in norse Myth, especially Thor's hammer. This is just speculation though, so trigger warning.

Given that Dainsleif also covers his right eye (if not with eyepatch), that samachurls have one eye in the middle of their face and that legend of Odin have him leaving one of his eyes in font of knowledge (which here could be Abyss)... it's possible that Irmin's Right Eye is source of corruption curse latches on most strongly.
PS. Event confirmed that Kaeya is not blind on his right eye... but if ALL it have is scar is a question still.

Not only Kaeya and Pierro, but Dainsleif has something in the right side of his face (mask) althought his right eye is not covered, however all three of them do have a four branch star pupils.
If you're not an Asian, the swore brothers thing surely have different meaning to you but here in Asia, those who live in the same roof are considered family.
Let's say Kaeya is not adopted but Crepus still took guardianship to him and grew up in their house. How can mere a child not see that as familial bond. Not unless Crepus abuse and mistreated Kaeya, in that way he wouldn't see Diluc as brother.
I think that's understandable in any culture, sworn brothers is unusual to me, but taking someone into your family is easily understood
that’s what always felt strange to me tbh, why would kaeya react so coldly to crepus’s death? he’s clearly very fond of diluc, but he barely ever mentions crepus at all and when he dies he just scoffs at the fact that he was a delusion wielder. it always made me think that maybe diluc and kaeya weren’t growing up on equal terms, i wish we learned more about it at some point

He wasn't super super young when adopted- maybe 10-13 years old.
The manga takes place three years after Diluc’s 18th birthday, putting the two of them at around 21 during the manga, and during the events of the Prologue chapter a few months later. At some point during his tenure as a knight, he tells the Grandmaster “One afternoon near the end of summer a decade ago, my father and I passed by the Dawn Winery.” which is when he first meets Crepus and Diluc.

This quest's execution was horrible, I went out the door after to talk to tuner because I had a commission and Kaeya was not there, or maybe I just missed him but usually they just keep the character there during the event. The letters being scattered randomly is also horrible, who would visit Jean's office unless you're a recent player doing story quests around there?
I actually quite like it because the lore aspect is basically optional and even if you somehow miss everything I think Mihoyo in the future will fit everything in more major quests
